Pretty awesome looking machine Aido.
Looks heap flasher than the heap of Harley that is in my shed.
good pics Jeffro. not often those valleys are as green as that.
Did you think to drop in and get your jumper from the houseboats?
I am currently running 14-48 gearing and get anywhere between, 100-120 kms to a tank (10 litres). It depends on who I am riding with and what sort of riding we are doing to how much I use. I will use more fuel riding with the likes of TB than I will riding with my son.
This gearing combination sees it revving its head off at 120kmh but is perfect for single trail and hill climbs as it pulls like a train. The standard gearing from memory was 15-41 and I got upwards of 150kms to a tank and it is claimed they will pull about 188kmh with that gearing (not much use in the bush).
! I dont think I have ever seen an intro thread with 31 replies and 431 hits on here ever!!
About 5 replies are relevent though
Welcome again ktm05525, if you can put up with the dribble you are welcome to stay and be our TTB.
TBB = Tasmanian Trailboss.
Hey ktm05525 After seeing what goes on around here, are you still sure you wanna hang out on this forum???
I suppose, if it helps someone else I will admit to what was possibly my mistake, that lead to the failure of the bigend bearing.
TB asked me had I cleaned the crank case after the previous piston failure.(after I had already finished rebuilding it)
I hadn’t cleaned it out, it didn’t even cross my mind to, as soon as I pulled the barrel Off I jammed a rag in the crank case and didn’t give it a second thought.
As it turns out,the previous piston failure, due to an over heat, has dusted the bigend bearing with particles of piston and ring etc. This dusting of particles and my subsequent failure to flush out the case with diesel or the likes, could have very well caused the catastrophic big end failure the engine experienced after only one hour of operation.
It embarrasses me to admit I didn’t even think to do it, considering I did a 4 year apprenticship as a mechanic. I went for the quick, cheap option and now it has bitten me on the arse and wallet. Especially after my wife came into the shed the other day and saw the bike in pieces and asked “do you know what you are doing?? My reply to her was ” of course I f#@ken know what I am doing”.
Another expensive lesson I have learnt the hard way.
I still believe TB jinxed me. He is to motors as what Boony is to the weather
Am I fielding questions??
Only questions that wont incriminate me or make me out to be a bigger goose than I am.

He had a nasty welt across his chest for a day or two, even with the “extreme” protection of his Tycon padded jersey.Just as well it wasn’t wet Mick, or it woulda offered great knee protection only….
I have come across these, but only were there is a bit of “cash cropping” going on….
Which does happen up here from time to time….
Ahhh yes, the old “Bush Lotto” will make people do extreme things in order to keep other people out.
Rant read and acknowledged.
It is a pity that it has come to this really. When we were kids we could ride in the bush,no worries. I am lucky to have private bush trails to ride and share with my kids. They love riding bush trails,we really need more recreational areas that family groups can enjoy riding in the bush as it is great fun to ride as a family and it also helps build riding skills you wont get on a MX track.

Geeez that statement will open me up for ridicule I suppose. :SYou still ride a penny farthing Mick, you just change the name to “HONDA”
Hatto
I spose you are right Hatto, the XR does have a big wheel at the front and a smaller one on the back.
Nah it wont be up and running for the sprints unfortunately, maybe for the last round of the MX if we are lucky.

That is all I can say. The thing was running sweet as and was going like the clappers for about an hour, untill it blew the bigend, which in turn took out the F@*King brand new piston with it…
For Fu3ks sake!!! Got out of it cheap my arse. F@8K I hate shit like that.
If anyone says anything smart, I will jump in my car and come and punch you in the neck.
Oh well it is only money, time and another lesson learnt (albeit an expensive lesson)
