Quote:Great reports guys! I had to check I was still in the same thread after reading about TB’s radiator, interesting to see everyone’s view of what happened from their experience and from all accounts there was a lot to experience! But wait there will be more!!!!!It was an epic weekend!!
Just paid for the 4th set I have bought, wouldn’t ride with out them now.
Come on gang, pay up so we can get it all underway.
Cheers
MickCant wait for your take on Saturdays ride Bol. Great report and pics mate. Thanks for the cake,it went down a treat on top of a gut full of schooners.
Day 2 through Mick’s eyes.
Consistent rain during Friday night had me thinking that it was going to be a mud fest on Saturday’s ride.
Up and having a coffee at 5am saw it still drizzling rain,I was feeling a bit apprehensive about how we were going to get 30 bikes around 100+ kms of trails without mishap.
Before the sun was up we, headed off into the darkness in light misting rain on our way to meet the rest of the crew at the farmstay.
Shirley and Barry were busy knocking up breakfast for the hoardes and the place was a hive of activity as guys kitted up and did what needed doing. A quick riders brief and we were underway, what a sight it was too. 30 bikes in single file heading off up the road!!
A quick 1km run up the road saw us at Daves place and straight into the bush onto some great trails that Dave and his mates have cut in over the last few years. The boys had been hard at work cutting some new trails in preparation for this ride too. Putting that many bikes through freshly cut single, will always be a bit of a task and all was going well with the ride flowing smoothly. Until TB had a bit of strife and dropped his bike directly onto a stump, caving in his radiator and shroud. With coolant and steam pouring out of the fiddy it was obvious that the day was over for TB.

(Yes I know the photo is sideways but couldn’t be arsed editing it)
The next issue was how we were going to get the fiddy out of where it was. There was no way a vehicle could get down to where it was , so with a bit of pushing the boys got it a bit closer to the road, when Murph appears with a tow rope and what better machine to tow a fiddy with?? Another Fiddy!! Crash was soon strapped up and a tow system was working well.

Once we got it to the main road Ash volunteered to go get his ute and carry the fiddy and TB out of the bush. A fantastic gesture on his behalf considering it was his first ride in several months, thanks Ash you are a champ!!
The boys waiting for us to get the fiddy out.

Once we wre under way again we did another 20km of wet greasy trails, one of these trails saw me and my fiddy have a bit of a front end moment and a subsequent laydown.
By this time the sun had broken through and the humidity was hitting close to 100% and keeping googles clear was a task in itself. We motored on down towards Bottlebutt, it was in this section that I saw Bollocks have one of the funniest get Offs I have ever seen, it was so funny it made me snort with laughter. A stop at Bottlebutt was welcomed by all the riders as it gave everyone a chance to clean their googles and have a bit of a breather as Dave had done a good job at giving the guys a work out. Here I went ahead and set myself up at a log I knew was across the trail to grab a couple of photos. Here in no particular order. I have listed those I recognise
RiderX hit it like a pro!!

Tripper

Dusty?

Graz

Mal5.1

Itsagas

Bollocks

Kram on the thrasher renta bike

The Rowan

Gasit

Jeffro

Lotsa

Crash’s ugly attempt

With super human strength, He saved it though.

Mudntar

Old mate

68 year old Al showed a few of us “younger” blokes up more than once on the ride

Moose the turn coat bastard on his new KTM

The humidity was so high that the camera lens kept fogging up so I apologise for the pic quality.
We followed riderX around for another hour or two through some great trails until we hit Red Clay hill that caused a bit of strife,so much so 8 rider decided they would do the smart thing and take the easy way round. Lunch was to be at Comboyne turn so we made our way to there to knock down a ripper Chicken salad sandwich and a can of drink. We topped up the bikes with fuel and the camelbaks that had been drained dry during the morning needed some attention too. Here I took over sweep duties and we headed off towards Comboyne to play in the hills. This turned out to be awesome fun but hard work.
To be continued.Good read there TB. Here are a couple of pics from the shed Friday night.
TB busy changing a tyre while Mal5.1 and Itsagas discuss the theory of evolution or some other crap.

STM dropped by to fix Connor’s Pushy and have a drink. Thanks for the beers too Scott.

Day 1 Dual sport ride.
What an awesome couple of days with good friends on the trails, I dunno where to start this report as there has been so much happen in the last two days, it all seems such a blur.
Thursday arvo is when the shenanigans began, TB, Mal and Crash arrived at my place just before Jeffro and the business of getting bikes ready and some drinking got underway straight away. The shed was a hive of activity as people dropped buy to say gday and as usual it became a social occasion as we sat about hanging shit on Bollocks. At about 10.30 Bollocks eventually arrived and we had to stop that and talk about someone else then. LOL Midnight saw us bunked down and ready for a 8 am start the next morning.
TB ready to roll

Friday saw us up and ready to rock at 7am, a quick run up to the Wauchope Country Kitchen (our caterers for the weekend) for a Bacon and egg roll.

At Mooses place

We then headed off to the meeting place at Mooses and we were away by 8am on our way too Cairncross state forest. Moose took the lead and lead us through a few sweet little singles before we met up with Blue450 so we could top up Mal’s two banger with fuel so it could make the distance.

A run up Red hill put us in the Bellangarra state forest where we hit some great fire trails that saw some mad powersliding. We then headed down to Hells Creek road that at the end had everyone laughing after a top run through it. Half way through we came across a dude in a Hilux cruising along having a beer and it was only 9am!!
We cruised on through to Kempsey and had a quick stop at Mavin and McNamara’s Truck workshop to say gday to one of TB’s mates. I do believe we made a bit of a stir in the industrial area.

A top up of fuel in Kempsey saw Ollie take the lead and he gave us a good work out through the trails in Maria State forest. There were some great trails in there too. It is here that things went a bit pear shaped for me, as I was thundering along pretty fast standing up when, a small stick somehow managed to snap the front wheel out from under me and I bit the deck fairly heavily. Giving my shoulder a good work out in the process. As I hit the deck I heard over the blue tooth “Crash yelling “man down” . I bit of a dust off saw me under way again nursing a shoulder that was giving me a bit of curry.
Once we had finished in the Maria forest we made a B line to Crescent head Pub for lunch. On the way there I witnessed the 888 bike pulling a huge wheelstand that was at about 100kmph. It was such a long wheelstand that the front wheel had all but stopped spinning and when he put it down a big puff of smoke came off the front wheel like when a jet lands. Amazing stuff indeed!!.
After an awesome lunch at the pub we headed out near Krams place to have a bit of a ride in some rutile sand country. There was a swampy section that was a bit of a challenge. It was here that I followed Ollie into the swamp and the rotten bastard managed to trap me and fill me in with wet sloppy sand like I have never been filled in before. I was covered form head to toe in wet black mud and I looked like the creature from the Black Lagoon.
Beware Ollie, one day when you least expect it, I will get even!!!
Some picks of the fun in the swamp.

Some of the puddles were a bit deep, to say the least!!

Once we had a ball tearing around in the sand we headed to the beach for a quick look before we hit Plommer road.

After all the rain we have had, Plommer road wasn’t as much fun as it could be as the whoops were full of water, but that didn’t stop the boys from hitting it at full song and at the regroup at the end of the road they were puffing and laughing at the same time!!
A quick run down to the ferry saw us cross the Hastings River and on our way back to Wauchope to prepare the bikes for the next days riding.
More report to follow.
Two epic days of riding……sunk a bit of piss too.
Well, day one is done and dusted. There are a few boys that are dusted too!! I dont think anyone made it through yesterday with out a dirt nap of some sort. The big red pig decided to buck me off at speed and I ate it pretty well. My shoulder is giving me a bit of curry I tell you.
Thanks for the birthday wishes gang!!
Cheers

Quote:Hi Mick, Just wondering what the final lineup is for the saturday ride. ThanksPretty well what the list says, a last minute cancellation is still on the cards though.
For those arriving Friday.
We will be meeting at Wauchope RSL for dinner on Friday night. If you are staying at the Farmstay, I have organised a bus to pick you up at the Farmstay at 7.30pm and take you to The RSL and return.
To find the Farmstay, directions are here;An indication who needs a pick up by bus would be good, so I can let the bus driver know how many.
AS it is now at the business end of the organisation some indication of when you are arriving would be good.
If you arrive in Wauchope Friday arvo, we will be at my shed changing tyres etc from about 4pm to 6pm. You are more than welcome to drop by and say gday before checking into the Farmstay.

Now doing the rounds in The bowels of the Fairfax media intraweb.  Good one Ollie.
