Well, I near pissed myself reading this thread!
I tell a fib, the Tenere isn’t 100% stock, I took the rubber inserts out of the foot pegs and it does have a Rideadv sticker on the Perspex bug deflector, that seems to make it go a whole lot better.
Not sure if Melissa enjoyed it all that much as she was scared that she was going to fly off the back due to the shear grunt of the Tenere, this leaves me with two options (1) Change the power delivery curve back to stock by refitting the rubber inserts into the footpegs and/or (2) fit a Screaming Eagle ® sissy bar like what was on the Harley.
Actually Eagle, it wasn’t too hard to stay ahead of the boys on the Beemers as they were fully aware that my Tenere was TB’s old RideAdv lead bike and they just presumed that they weren’t allowed to overtake it.
Besides they still had another 10 hours of riding ahead of them, as they were heading to Hampton so they weren’t really pushing as hard as I know they could.
Despite all the piss taking, I enjoyed the day out on the new bike, saw and rode some great country, rode with some good blokes (that rang me yesterday and thanked me for showing them around), had a sneaky beer or two before lunch, scared myself more than once and also got to share some seat time with the missus. All in all, no matter what style of riding or bike I was on it all that adds up to a good day all round. :woohoo:
All the best with it guys. What a bastard that cancer is.
Cheers
MickYeah, probably be able to help you out.
Welcome Curley, I am at Wauchope and ride the trails around here occasionally. Also ride an XR. As the time gets closer, I will be able to point you in the right direction for a ride. Bike hire may be a problem though, not sure if anyone has hire bikes available.
Cheers

MickNo Eags, I will be there at the track on Monday.
You still be there Sunday Eags? I have a morning gig on the flag at marshal point 5.
As TB said they are a reliable beast. My brother rode one from New Orleans to Prudhoe Bay in Alaska, a trip of over 17,000kms and the only thing that went wrong was the exhaust slip on feel off.
Looks great! I saw a white one on the net with the grey panels painted white and thought it looked good! You have done all the mods I have on my wish list for my Tenere.Due to the cost of all the goodies, it will be sometime before mine is up to the level of yours though.
Cheers
MickGday JMB, thanks for the intro and welcome to OBT. Sounds like you lead an exciting life. Best of luck on your next Adventure.

Looked sore in the photos.
For a latte rider your hard core man.Smells like bike envy!
Don’t fret Snowy, I have a shed full of bloody trail bikes! And a adequately stocked beer fridge. The Tenere will serve a purpose that can involve the dear wife in a ride or two, she wasn’t keen to get on the back of the XR!
The old Mick is a alive and kicking, still loving a bush bash on the Pig and I don’t drink lattes
Thanks for your concern.
Keen to do some shake down rides, still haven’t tried it out on the dirt yet. Not taking anyone out looking at properties this weekend I assure you!
Have a great day Scotty! Talk soon.
Cheers
