Back from the dead almost..
Once I had the erratic idle sorted, it was an impossible task to sort out the erratic rider.Tripper is a wild man.AS TB so eloquently put it “It was obviously a case of to much power in the hands of an idiot”
ACtually now I think about it a bloke doubled me on a Z1300 once with a side car on it with a sheila in the chair. That is an experience, when you come to the first right hander and you go to lean with the bike and it doesn’t lean.
IT had more than enough power to pull all three of us.Geoff Ballard suggested that I lift the needle first but it ran a mile too rich and used fuel like anything, I had to switch to reserve at 90km instead of 120km. It was also blowing black smoke to. I also dropped one size on the main jet from 210 back to 200, I only got to ride it for 7km with these settings before it sat me on my arse.:S
They came out the year before you were born Moto.
No snide remarks from me, I have an each way bet happening in my shed,I have all the brands except a Suzuki.
After extensive research I have discovered that it is in fact the Honda CBX 1000 motor.Gotta love Google images.
Yes moto they were both straight 6’s and the Kwaka was water cooled. I had a ride on the Z1300 in 1984 and haven’t seen one on the road since.I just put a different stock carby on it and the problem went away.

ollie
Hahaha Get my PM did ya??
I got it sorted by putting a bigger pilot jet in it 12.5 to 15. Lifting the needle made it too rich and it was blowing black smoke. The pilot jet made it go even better and fixed the mid range ping so good, the first time I rode it with that jetting I flipped the bastard and am still in plaster:ohmy:
Another way to look at it is ,Do you think you will have $2500 worth of fun on it??
I reckon it is a whole lotta bike for $2500!!! Yeah, I think it is worth it.
Gday Hatto,
Welcome to OBT, another green rider ay, With two young ones on green as well? What have you got them on? My son is on a KX85 after not long ago selling his KX65.
I regret selling the 65 as my daughter is all but ready for one now. There certainly has been some finger pointing going on, since I last checked the site.
