PAC MAN Please.
I don’t read magazines as a rule ,as stated earlier by Scotty, the net is my main source of info. Although I buy Dirt Action for my son as it encourages him to read. Also that free one you get from the bike shops called Cycle Torque is a good read for free.
Gaday Mickj,
Welcome to the site, You just gotta love the networking that goes on here!! You sound as though you’ll be a real handy member.
Cheers
MickIn hind sight, here is a small bitch… The LCD speedo is Grey back ground with black numbers, which to my aging eyes a bit hard to see in a quick glance. I think the KTM orange background with black numbers on the 530 is easier to see.
I know it is nit picking but it is just my thoughts as an old bull.shane_vor wrote:
Quote:(If I were ever allowed to make another purchase!!!).It is funny you should say that Shane. After I came back from the ride the dealer asked my thoughts and my response was “It is a great bike, but not worth getting divorced over”. He laughed at that and it also got me out of having to hear his sales pitch.

Apparently if you sit at 120K/h for 10 secs after the warning comes up it gets logged in the EFI computer and when BMW plug in to the bike they know you’ve abused the bike and warranty gets voided. The std 15 tooth front sprocket is too big for single track, better with the 14 and the bike is torquier off the throttle, much nicer
Dunno about any over rev warning!! I was to busy watching where I was going, to look down at that stage!!
I had heard that the bike is capable of dobbing you in via the BMW computer. I don’t think warranty is a problem for these two bikes we tested as one wasn’t even run in and we were flogging it,that is what test bikes are for. There were plenty of better riders than me lining up to put them through their paces,so I am sure the bikes got what for ,after I rode them.
Hey Wikd, have you got your bar risers in the forward position or the back holes? The two bikes were set up differently and I prefered the back position of the bars.I am with you Dan on the Crap Oneals and I think I will be using the don’t wash method in the future.
Yet I will say, my son had a set of Oneals all last year and they are in great condition still and I can see his sister wearing them when she gets bigger. They were washed with a pressure washer regularly.Hi mick hear is another release.
Hogan’s hit tips back on MXTV tonight
Lee Hogan, MXTV co-host and one of Australia’s premier riding coaches, will bring his popular rider tips back onto Aussie air waves tonight when the gate drops on MXTV episode five (season eight) at 8pm on Foxtel channel 183 (Aurora).
MXTV Producer Brendan Bell said Hogan’s rider tips were some of the most popular segments on Australia’s favourite dirt bike show.
“It’s great to be airing Lee’s first tip for the year on tonight’s show,” Bell said.
“Lee’s a very respected coach and his rider tips are an important part of MXTV.
“People find his advice really helpful… this season as always his tips will cover heaps of ground from advanced on-bike technique to off-bike tips and hints.”
Bell said tonight’s show would also include segments on the wild Condobolin 750, and the largest enduro event in the Southern Hemisphere, the Hog’s Breath Café Australian Four-Day Enduro (A4DE).
“Our enduro reporter, Robbo, is back tonight to review the A4DE and we chat to a bunch of the top enduro guys there,” Bell said.
“We also interview five-time MX World Champion Joel Smets who tried his hand at the A4DE this year and had a blast doing it.”
Bell said tonight’s show would also premier the first of spanner spinner Chad Talbot’s new mechanical tips.
“Chad from Chad’s Off-Road Set-Up’s is one of the best guys in the country when it comes to getting bikes race ready and we’ve stepped up his mechanical tips again this year,” Bell said.
“It’s gonna be another huge show tonight, so don’t miss it!”
MXTV will air every Tuesday at 8pm (7pm for Queenslanders) on Foxtel Channel 183 (Aurora). The show will also be repeated throughout the week.

*Please note: times will be an hour earlier for QueenslandersI have been watching the poll with interest,How is it that only 26 people voted yet there is one section that has 153 votes. sounds a bit like how the Zimbabwi elections are conducted!!
Oh well it is now up to me to prove you all wrong.Yes,it feels lighter and lower. It was probably more user friendly in the bush than the KTM 530 as it seems to get the power to the ground easier due to less wheel spin.Like I said,it lacks the brute power that I am used to dealing with.Still all in all I am glad I rode it as it was certainly a fun bike.
I had no choice but feel comfortable on the bike as young Adam was leading me on a merry old chase as soon as I threw my leg over the thing. No time to get a feel for the machine before I found myself flat chat through the bush.
Yeah I was surprised that I had missed something as major as that in my pre ride check. Maybe I will sit my beer down next time..LOL
One thing I forgot to mention about Saturdays ride, Bunyip was happy to follow me most of the day,as he said it was almost comical how the Xr’s arse end skips around all over the place. I did notice she was being a bit harder than normal to keep tracking in a straight line. So at one stop we made, I gave the back wheel a bit of a wobble and found it was flopping around a bit. Bugger, wheel bearings again, I only replaced them 1900km ago.
I pulled the back wheel off last night in preparation for the new bearings and once it was off, I reinserted the axle to see how stuffed the bearings actually were and there was no play there at all…WTF?
So I grabbed the swing arm and gave it bit of a wobble and it was flopping around like an old man’s tockley!!
The big nut on the swing arm pivot bolt had two threads before it was about to fall off!! Any wonder the XR was a hand full on Saturday!! Tightened the nut up and all is good again, except I now have a set of wheel bearings on order that I don’t really need at the moment.:blush:Good call TB.
