Some CRF450X mods I found/stole from another site.

There is a pink wire that goes to the CDI,if this is cut the bike will rev 500 revs higher.
It may also slightly advance the ignition,not sure though.
The CRF450 muffler will bolt straight to an X, you may have to go to a bigger main jet though.
A slightly rich main on CRF and CRFX make the midrange punch much stronger.
CRF450R valve recession was cured in 06 but if you are replacing the valves a good tip is to use stainless steel valves from the TRX,they last a very long time and you won’t notice any difference unless you ride professionally.

Also here is one for you TB….

The CDI from an XR400 will fit the XR650r,it gives 2 extra degrees of timing at idle and revs out to 9300 where stock is 8250.

Yes Ollie in Hindsight that is what we should have done,but with Ant every thing has to have been done yesterday!!All ways in a rip roaring hurry.
I will use your advise from now on. He is lucky I had both back wheels tied together with a truckies knot, otherwise the Kato would have taken the dive.
There is a lota stuff on one of those 990’s that would have got trashed in a tumble up the road.

Speaking of trailers, as some of you may know my brother Ant, left for Melbourne on Tuesday towing the KTM530 and the KTM990 ADV on a brand new bike trailer. Well he rang me in a flap yesterday morning as one of the brand new high quality tie downs on the 990 snapped (rated to 300kg) and Ant was lucky enough to look in the rear view to see the big girl hanging out over the side off the trailer,ready to take the final tumble out over the side. The footpeg was all that was holding her in!!
How lucky was he? Considering he had been driving all night and it happened just after day light, if it had happened during the night the first thing he would have seen would be the shower of sparks as the big Kato self destructed on the highway!!!

I went to Mark Baker the second time and he wouldn’t do it,because it was that rooted!!!!
He sent me to Merv Cross(The bloke who used to do all the footy players) at Crows Nest.
I left the hospital the next morning with only a stocking thing on my leg and flew back to Port Macquarie, no brace for 6 weeks like the first time. Worth the extra money I paid!!!

Bummer Chris.T, I feel your pain, I have done my cruciate twice and am a veteran of the knee reconstruction (had two cruciate recons and six arthroscopes).No fun there buddy.
Are you gunna get it fixed asap? When you do get it fixed, best buy an XBOX as you do a fair bit of sitting around doing F.A!!!
So that rules you out of the Pony Express in November??
