Now in hind sight maybe there are deeper underlying issues, remember how I bitched that she stalled a few times for no reason earlier in the day.
Ha ha I think it is the rider that has to get used to the bum clencher hills..LOL

My XR is geared for 100km flat out. 15/48. She is still a hand full in tight hilly stuff though.
OH yeah it was being abused!! Guilty as charged.
It has only just clicked up 7000km, so I would be amazed if the plates have notched the basket yet.
Then again anything is possible.Mac Once it cooled dow It seemed to work fine. I will dump the oil today and put some fresh stuff in and see how she goes.
Did you hear about the 2 tv antennas that were going out. Yeah, they finally got married, wasn’t much of a wedding but the reception was great.
Thanks Chicken, That’s good to know, it is the first time it has happened to mine and because I could smell burning oil I put it down to the oil breakdown due to the heat.
Yeah I pictured in my head that the plates may have expanded as there is no other reason that you could gain that much free play instantly like it did. Although what worried me was, that I have in the past had the bike in situations like yesterday and the clutch has never done that before.
It wouldn’t have been a good place to have to push the big girl out of if she hadn’t have come good.Sounds like a real hoot…. Slept in, then ran out of fuel? I would have seen that as an omen and considered going home.
Can’t wait to hear the full version of events.I will definately have to review what oil to use as the Full synthetic failed me yesterday.
We were trying to get the bikes through a “mini Erzburg” and I could smell that the XR was getting really hot and as I was waiting for the boys ahead of me to get up the gnarly section of the hill I had the bike in first gear with the clutch in and all of a sudden the clutch grabbed and stalled the bike.
From there I had no clutch and about an inch of free play in my lever.
Once the bike was allowed to cool down the clutch returned to normal and I managed to ride the hard section Kamakazi fashion ,without having to stop or use the clutch, which was a good thing.
I haven’t dumped the oil yet but I will bet it is burnt, God only knows what the clutch plates look like.:unsure:Gday Glenn.
Another Berg, 2nd one this week to join. Welcome to the mad house old mate.Rip it into him Batman!! He dishes out his fair share. Good work old son.(Don’t tell TB but your Karma just went up 1)
I kind of figured that out ol mate. XR’s are still tough though.
Gday Bruno,
Good to see we managed to haul you away from the Dark side (Thumpertalk). THe DRZs are gettting thick on the ground around here just of late. -
