Not just little men!!!Girls can rip it up as well!!!
Meet Taylah, she is six and is an absolute demon and gives the boys hell at the races. She raced her pink Pee Wee last year and at the moment she is racing a KTM mini Adventure and she rounds up all but one of the kids on Pro Seniors. She turns 7 next month and she will then be old enough to race her Pro Senior so look out then!!!!Here is a few pics…….
The PW that is now in retirement on a shelf in our shed, the pic was taken at the Hastings Valley Motorcycle Club Practice day……
And here she is with her Pro Senior and her brother Connor on his KX85 at our families property at Comboyne…….
I went on a two day trail tour at Coffs Harbour recently with Boris from Coffs Harbour Detour and he has one as his work bike and admittedly the bugger can ride but the bike seemed like it had the goods and it looked pretty trick. There was no way I could catch him on my XR600.
As a general all round bike I think they are a good machine, you could easily commute on it during the week and then go silly in the bush on the weekend.
I will give it my thumbs up.The 990 is a mean machine and turns heads where ever you take it. To be honest I haven’t ridden it that much and when I do, one of my kids is usually hanging off the back. I have ridden it up the Oxley highway to Gingers Creek a few times on my own and it handled the mountain well. It has a Leo Vince system on it and it sounds really good, so much so the first time I rode it to Gingers, a group of guys there heard it coming and said it sounded sweet as and they were surprised that it was an Adventure making a such a sweet note coming up the Valley. It is good to have such a great road at our doorstep!!
As far as riding it on the dirt, it takes a bit of getting used to throwing a 199kg bike into a slide without high siding it and the ABS can give you a fright if you are not on your game.
My younger brother rode one through Mexico and bits of south America and he can ride the thing like a demon and will surprise you where he can take it on single trail with out dropping it.Yeah up and at it already, I deal with online Auctions in Japan and I like to get up early
(usually 4.30 am) to see how bidding went overnight.
I run ED12’s on both the KTM and XR’s, a lot of our riding is done in loamy rainforest tracks, so we don’t tend to tear the tires up as bad as we do when we hit the fire trails with all that shale rock.
Yeah I worked out the bbear and trailboss was the same dude, when I went into bbear’s thumpertalk garage and he had exactly the same bike as you.
Have fun at Finke and keep us posted on the goings on.
Cheers. The dealer actually managed to get all 710ml of oil into the engine by laying the bike on it’s side and pouring it in, needless to say it came out the breather on the first ride after the service. As far as bolts falling out, the ironic thing is the replacement bolts are that covered in loctite, they are hard to screw in.
Although it could be a KTM thing as the subframe bolts on the 990 ADV fell out as well and I have had to replace several missing bolts on my daughters Pro senior.
As far as reliability of the 530 goes I can’t really fault it,like I said before the thing absolutely ripps and sounds awesome. A few guys in the States are having hell’s own problems with cams as well as oil transfereing from the engine to the gearbox.
Another problem they are having is the standard battery hasn’t the power to start the bike in cold weather, I haven’t had any starting issues but I haven’t tried to start it in winter yet.wal wrote:
Quote:Thinking about upgrading the young blokes XR100 to possibly CRF150? The performance one. What do you think and do you know of any?The perfect step up from a Xr100 (I am presuming you are talking the CRF150R).They come in big and small wheel versions so bear in mind if the young fella wants to race he must be over 12 to race the big wheel. A few friends have been caught in the past not knowing this rule.

Ha Ha.I am on my home computer now. Just come in from the shed, had a couple of dirty XR’s to sort out and a YZ250F to sell.
Result: Two clean XR’s and a YZ250 off my hands. Pretty good afternoon really.
How has the hit ratio picked up since your post on Thumpertalk???
MickGday Wal,
Welcome aboard. Nothing wrong with the Green Machines in my book. Tell all your mates about this site ASAP and lets get it going!!!! Well done to the guys who have set it up. I am a regular on a site from the States http://www.thumpertalk.com and always thought it would be great to have an Aussie version with more relevant issues. Have a look at TT and with some support we could have our own Aussie version happening in no time.
Cheers
MickChris have you noticed the sites clock is out of whack?I think it is out by about 12 hours.
Don’t mean to be picky, just trying to help. As you can see,I am at work with nothing better to do.micknmeld wrote:

Sticky?Where dat?
Yeah I have a very understanding missus, actually I don’t think she even knows exactly what is in the shed at any given time!!The KTM’s are starting to take over the shed, last year there was no KTM’s in there and now there is 4 of the bloody things, with another pro senior on the way.
If things are gunna get serious on a ride I take the KTM530 but if it is a long ride, in not so gnarly conditions I will always pick the XR because it has a seat!!The KTM seats are made from the heat tiles off the space shuttle I think. If you have friends at Comboyne I bet I know them as I am a forth generation local.
BTW congrats for setting this site up,look forward to contributing in the future.
Cheers
