I wore an EVS neck brace (the first one) and managed to have a few come offs in it and I found it did indeed limit your ability to “tuck and roll” (ie the faetal position described by Nickj). This alone caused my head to hit the ground heavier than it would have without the neck brace on, in my opinion. Not a scientific study by all means, just my own experience.
Welcome Fred, thanks for the intro. Make yourself at home here at OBT, it isn’t that bad a place to hang out on the net.
Cheers

Sweet Eags, thanks mate.
I never suggested you were the wood duck TB. I know you’d never use a self taper. Zip tie maybe, but not a wood workers screw. I have found quite a few surprises on the old girl. Not that I am complaining. It is a whole lot of bike considering what I paid for it. I have already had enough fun on it to cover the original purchase price.
I dunno what I deserved to get a long legged, blue eyed, blonde haired daughter!! I totally realise I have trouble brewing just around the corner!
6mm is what I need. Three are metric thread but the forth is a self taper that some wood duck put in there in the past. Nothing is ever easy when dealing with older bikes!
my design allowed for the top 3 inches to be tweaked if necessary.
Spent a few bucks on the NX today and got a screen made up for her. I heard it gets cold down that way. This is the prototype screen. I will give her a test run before we leave. $40 at the local plastics place. I just made a template out of a beer carton and they did a great job copying it..
