Wonder how that happened Mick ?? Are you sure you didn’t ride over one of those rally cars !!!quote]

May have happened on the hill to no where with all the erosion humps as I was using ALL the suspension travel jumping the humps.
When I took it off to straighten it back out, I found that it was KTM 3mm plastercein? aluminium, so I would not have noticed it. If I was looking for a bash plate for the 690, I definitely would not get the KTM product, I would get an after market B&B (or similar) unit made from high strength alloy.

Just washed the bike so I could take some photos of the rack mods and found a huge dent in the front of my bash plate that was not there before the ride :(

Its supposed to be flat across that section – its pushed in about 30mm

    Hi Nick

I modified the KTM racks on my 690 to give more tie off points and give the Andys bags more support as the racks were originally designed for the hard aluminium boxes (lucky I dont run them or they would be a bit dented by now  )

I am pretty sure the Wolfman bags would tie on to the extra loops I have welded into the corners.
When I have cleaned the bike I’ll get a close up photo of the rack mods

Hope yours is better than mine TB, I was rather dissapointed.
Mine is very noisy for the $$$$’s and I prefer to use my old Zeus adventure lid. On the plus side it has a larger port for bigger view and you can wear full size goggles with the visor up if its dusty. I found if it was raining you could wear goggles with the visor 1/2 up, keeping the rain off the goggles for better vision. More sun burn with the bigger port thou ???

Great stuff Lotsa, looks like you made it to the good spots mate! Hope all went well looking forward to the rest of the report, did you do the bore track or was it too wet!!

Great riding Boulder, it hasn’t rained for 3 months, the roads are like highways. Said gday to Fenn who nearly did himself out of $100 worth of fuel due to a faulty pump price reel. Too honest we are. had a laugh with him. Saw old Dave at bollards and rode the Bore track. Bottom half good although a bloke travelling through with a film crew broke some ribs in a crash. top half not maintained and is closed, making interesting riding. All signs ripped off and I mean broken off. Had 6 drops of rain the whole trip.

    More RR to come.

I came down both sections of the Bore Track last Wednesday in the 4b – the top section from Innaminka is open but is very rough in places and appears not to have been maintained for a long time until you get to the section which is service road for some gas fields and is like a highway. We also came down through Cordillo Downs (still has a road closed sign at the northen end but is all open again) and across Coopers creek in to Innaminka.

    Gav,
thanks for doing the RR. I didn’t get my camera out as you always seemed to beat me to it. Nothing much else to add
It was good to catch up with the other OB members and a special thanks to Eagle for looking after us so well and bringing beers.
Thanks to TB and crew for organising a great third get together.

Yeh, he had an 05 model KTM stolen from his garage. Im pretty sure it was QBE he was insured with and because the bike had 04 compliance plate (but was an 05 model, makes a diff of about $1000 in value at the time) they wanted to pay him out the value of an 04 model. He had to send in photos of the bike with all the extras it had and get letters from the dealer and KTM stating that it was in fact an 05 model and worth much more than what the insurance company wanted to pay out. He finally got the payout value increased but only after much hassling ( but not what it was really worth).
IMR are bike savy and know how the KTM year models run so no hassle and its agreed value.

My bikes are insured with insure my ride mate cheapest I found around and I got agreed value for the XR. Also all my ride gear etc is covered on the Tenere

Ditto except for riding gear. Been using them for a few years now and its agreed value, not market value that is open to a lot of interpretation if you need to make a claim for a stolen bike as a friend found out unfortunately.

By the way eags the bike looks good, they dont have a very good steering lock for tight tracks. Mine has about 20k km on it now and no real problems.
