Its good to see an Australian made rack – doesn’t seem to be much Aussie made these days. :cheer:
The racks should be pretty well bullet proof now and good on the guys for improving the racks so quickly.

I’ve got an old ski biscuit I might take with me to Eyre Creek.
It could be worth a fortune at the creek

In the last few days around the Central Coast while driving in my car (during school hols) i have seen at least a dozen bikes (unregistered motocross etc) riding along in the traffic as if they own the roads.
These days the kids dont seem to give a s**t. If the cops do see them they have little chance of being caught.
I think a lot of it has to with irresponsible parenting these days as the kids are not being supervised. We are not going to stop this sort of thing from happening.
It seems to be the way society is headed these days.

This ride will officially begin in Lightning ridge on sunday 9th October. We will meet in Lightning Ridge on the Saturday evening (the 8th) where a pub will be booked for the night .There are two groups riding to the start ,they are Mickp’s group from the central coast area up via Tamworth (we think )and on through to Lightning Ridge for the start.
The other group will be starting early from Grafton riding around 750km in total on mainly dirt roads we estimate 12-13 hours in the saddle.
After looking at arriving in Lightning Ridge on Sat arvo 8th Oct which is a distance of over 700km by direct tar, the rough plan for the Central Coast group and any others from the sydney area that want to tag along.
Depart Fri morning 7th Oct, meet up with Sydney crew on the Putty Rd (meeting point to be worked out later). Head to Tamworth for Friday night and meet up with Bollocks and any others that may come across from Wauchope/Port Macquarie.
Sat morning depart Tamworth and arrive at Lightning Ridge Sat arvo and meet up with the Grafton crew for the official start Sunday. :woohoo:

As Jethro said, if you fill the radiator to the top it will spit it out – fill it to the level as in the manual.
You can install a small header tank if you want to run the radiator full (as in your car and some other trail bikes).
The fan is pretty well an essential if you are riding slow tight singles on KTM’s and probably the Berg. The Berg should not suffer flattened batteries from the cooling fan running like the KTM’s do, as the fuel injected bergs have a high output alternator to run the FI system and keep the battery charged.Good luck – enjoy the new machine

Your right Bundy, it is red cliffs they are trailering to.

Congratulations Nick,
not sure if you have arrived back home yet.
You have certainly clocked up some Adventure miles in the last week.Mick
The 490’s look in good nick.
Brings back memories when I used to race enduros in the 70’s on my IT400C
My brotherinlaw used to have a 490 many years ago, she was a bit more of a brute than the 400.
I then had an IT175 for trail riding and sold it to a friend, then picked up an IT250 (drum brake model cant remember the model) and at the same time picked up a disc brake IT200. Sold the 250 and kept the 200, it was a great little machine. So I have had a few IT’s, they were the first of the Jap enduro machines. :woohoo:

Day four
Today the Central Coast crew (Lotsa, Tryhard, Motodude & Mickp) were leaving the group and heading back towards Gunning via the original route which travelled down the ranges to the west of Canberra. The rest of the group still had a few more days of riding planned and were going to stay at Tarago Pub for their next night.
Everyone was up and waiting for the buffet breakfast to open at 7.00am. With an excellent breaky under our belts we completed packing the bikes, refueled and we were on the road by 8.00am.
We headed out to Lake Eucumbene and had a look around the sites at the dam wall, then cut back across to the Snowy Mts. H’way and headed west through Adaminaby till we reached the turn off to Tantangara reservoir. The view of the dam was very peaceful and there were some great looking campsites.
We then managed to follow some trails and eventually came out and turned north along Long Plain Rd. The route we had plotted in the GPS took us to a locked gate saying private property, but the ride up the track was worth it. :woohoo: Backtracking the 18km to the Broken cart track was a blast with heaps of sharp edged erosion humps that just seemed to appear out of nowhere causing panic as you landed front wheel first with the panniers high in the air then landing back to earth bottoming out the rear suspension.
On arrival at the Broken cart track we programmed Wee Jasper into the Aldi GPS which led us over a variety of tracks and pine forest roads out to Wee Jasper, then up to Yass for a refuel.
Motodude then separated from our group to head straight up the tar towards home.
The three of us then took the back roads to Gunning arriving there about 5pm after doing about 430km for the day.As we wheeled in to the pub carpark there was a portable pizza oven set up with a sign, two pizzas and garlic bread special for $20. In unison as we got off the bikes we all said lets get pizza as we only had trail snacks during the day. So as we loaded the bikes onto the trailer we had pizzas and beer to finish off a perfect 4 days of riding.
Our stats for the 4 day ride were total of 1428km with a moving time of 23hrs 30mins and moving average speed of 60kmh with our max elevation of 1775 metres.
I would like to thank TB for organizing the ride and thanks for the great company and camaraderie from the rest of the group. Its what makes being a member of OBT so memorable.
