HAPPY BIRTHDAY GAV
I’m having a beer for you now :woohoo:
Mick
Weather is looking good for the weekend – no rain forcast for Sofala :cheer:
See the link
http://www.accuweather.com/world-forecast.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=0&locCode=OCN|AU|NSW|SOFALA&metric=1A few showers on the central coast / newcastle at present
Scott must have been reading my mind as I was only talking to Lotsa about buying one the night before the add appeared.
Definitely the cheapest around – have organised Lotsa to pick one up for me as I’ve got some tyres to change before the Sofala ride and dont want to scratch up my black rims too much.Great work Sutto’s
Great prize list there TB
if it keeps going at the rate it is we’ll have one prize for every rider.
Here is a link you can use to check results on the 4 day. I’ve been following the results since I got back home on friday night. It does not seem to show the overall results at the end of the last day though.

When I was at the event on thurs & fri I was impressed by the effort from the girls. Most of them were petite shorties that rode like the wind and had to slide one cheek off the seat to be able to touch the ground.
The OBMCC organisers were doing a fantastic job and have been working their buts off for months. Congratulations boys and girls for a top job.

Hi Guys,
just saw your posts tonight. Thanks for the good wishes. Haven’t been doing any trail riding lately, too hot and the body is starting to complain lately. Took the little 650GS for a run to the Superbike races with a few mates via a lot of the back roads recently, got me all inspired and traded up to an F800GS. Hoping to get out on her soon. On hols at the moment & going to have a look at the A4DE on Thursday and Friday. Might catch up with a few of you there.Mick
TB,
isn’t the “creek crossing” actually the Macquarie River?micknmeld wrote:

Still dicky, as it appears it is worn out.The spring inside it that holds the button out, cant push the button out far enough to disengage the switch,so if you actually pull the button out the slightest bit it starts every time. The actual switch block the spring is in doesn’t look all that serviceable.I would suggest that a new switch block would be required.
But if you can get used to it, it would make a reasonable anti theft devise.Just read the post – but you have it sorted. I have seen that happen a couple of times before where the kill switch has been faulty and that has been on much later models.

You blokes (& ladies) are hard to please. $150 for a 1 day ride is not much. You have a chance to win a new bike, provided with entertainment and a feed. I was in that shit-hole you call Sydney a few weeks ago and paid more than twice that for a 2 hour walk on the Harbour Bridge, so please don’t bore us with “too much money”. You seem quite happy to turn up and sponge off the event without paying to ride, why don’t you come back another weekend ??? Would be a pity for the sweeps to find you busted on the side of the track and completly ignore you because you are not a part of the event. The reason the early bird entries closed so soon was an attempt to get people off their fat arses and enter earlier so that entries can be processed and the organisers have a little bit less to do on the weekend of the event. So “no”, the entries are not slow, about 500 this far out is normal.
Mate, I don’t sponge off your event. I have pre-entered and ridden the event for about the last 15 years bar one or two where I could not get the weekend off work as was the case this year but ended up swapping shifts to go. The rest of my mates, many that I have introduced to the rally have pre-entered as usual. I would not ride on the day without paying.
We seem to agree on one thing about Sydney anyway.
I hope you have a good weekend and rally organisers do not get too stressed. They have done a great job in the past and I am sure they will do a great job again this year.Mick

Quote:Hey Mick I’ve just seen that you have a 53 BSA Bantam, you should post some pics, they are great bikes! I like the old school stuff. Would love to have a few older bikes knocking around, trouble is they have grown popular again and can cost a bit of money for a decent one….Yeh moto,
I used to ride BSA bantams around the bush when I was a kid and saw this one at a swap meet in Gosford and fell in love with her. Much to my wifes annoyance the bike came home with me. It is not in original livery (which were a bit drab). She has had parts chromed and painted etc and looks great. She was born the same year as me, so we can grow older together.
I’ll try and post some pics in Whats in your garage thred.Mickp
You are right all the XR speedos do that Mickp, I was surprised that Mick D posted that about the milage in his post, I guess he is still new to XR’s
TB
I’m afraid to say it here, but I have fond memories of my XR400 days
and reckon I would have had it for a lot longer if I didn’t have a busted ACL in the left knee. Every time I got stuck on a snotty hill standing on my crook leg trying to restart the bike :S . So I ended up selling it and getting a bike with a button. I’ve forgotten how to kick a bike these days.
Also both of my sons come through the XR ranks when they started riding – lots of good memories!Mickp

what are the 2 pics of that are linked on DBW? i’m not a member and cannot view them.
ANYWAY What Are You Doing On Another Bike Site For Anyway?!?!
 :silly:  :silly:
Mick D already pointed out it has 86km on the odometer but 200 odd on the trip meter
I wouldn’t do that
Those trip meters when you wind them back to reset them will do that. You could have 999km’s showing before it resets to zero.
I have met the guy that posted the adv. for his mate and have a fair idea of who owns the bike as he swapped a KTM 450EXC that he won at Sunny Corner for an XR650R. Thats if it is the person I am thinking of who is in Belmont District MCC.

Yeh Drew, I could not get it to play on my computer either  but I could view it on my sons puter. Apparently my puter does not have the correct program to play the DVD
