Some photos of the 690 oil cooler someone has made up
Mickp
While at Finke this year I saw a couple of 690’s with an additional oil reservoir welded to the front of the bash plate to give more capacity and to cool the oil. I took a few photos and was trying to see where they had the oil lines connected.
I’ll post up some photos later so Eagle can drool over them and add to his wish list  :laugh:Mickp

Your three finger measurement in a four finger cup made for a good sleeping tablet. It was the best nights sleep I had on the trip. I’ll bring the Turkey next time :cheer:

Some highlights:
Krusty (the ostrich) finally getting up Big Red after a couple trips over the bars

Hi Dean
My 690 runs a 2.5″ rear rim and I used a 120 Bridgestone ED78 on the rear for the Camerons ride. It worked pretty well and is probably a bit over half worn with conservative throttle use after 3000km, but still had a heavy load over rocky/gravel roads. Standard fitment is a 140 but it does not seem to make much difference, they all fit OK, 120/130/140 on the 2.5 rim.
I agree with TB about the 606 / MT21 wear & gripMick
All the best for your birthday Eags
Hope the weather is better up there to celibrate, its like the middle of winter down here

Nick
this is the esky I have been using on my bike
Got it from the wholesalers years ago when they were supplying LV light kits in them.
Squashes down pretty flat to fit in a bag and fits a 6 pack with ice when rquired.I lent one to Lotsa and its been hard to get back

Trailboss wrote:Mick I can only imagine is worried about weights after he has just welded the arse of the kato back on  :pinch:Sutto told me last week “The 690 is a good adventure bike but they cant carry the weight we do adventure riding”
I will weigh mine maybe this week if I can get time and Lefty is available
TB
After about 23k’s I dont think its too bad to have a stress crack in the rack.
The mods were to the KTM rack to fit 2 struts up from the rear peg mounting brackets and an extra brace onto the top of the tank making it similar to the Touratech 690 rack.
I seem to remember a Tenere rack having pubside repairs not long ago
As long as I dont have problems on the track

Dejay wrote:I think he’s running an E09, with all the weight and power of the might DR, we could both be in trouble!:woohoo: What tyre combo are you running Mick?
I’ll be running Bridgestones – ED77 front ED78 rear
Tryhard ran them on his 690 on the High Country ride and was happy with them, so I’ll see how they go

I thought I would weight all my gear and see just how much weight the pig would have to carry!
Right pannier = 7kg
left pannier = 7kg
Top bag = 6kg
Food tube = 3kg
water = 2kg
spare fuel =4.5kg
Back pac = 7.3 kg
Bum bag.5kg
Fuel in tank =29.7kg
Me =110kg All muscle too!!
Total 180 kg
No wonder the frames take a hammering!!
Would be interested to know what some of you guys weight fully loaded??Just checked the load rating of the rear 606 tyre = 325kg
180kg plus riding gear (say 10kg) plus bike (say 170kg) = 360kg
The back tyre is grossly overloaded when you are doing wheelies up the road Boulder

OWL 02 wrote:Just went out and purchased my 7 just add boiling water meals. I also bought an air bed. Is anyone taking a pump, either foot or 12volt.
GazGaz,
Wayne is taking a 12v blower for the air beds and I’m taking a small 12v tire compressor or maybe it should be the other way as he seems to have more use for a tyre pump 😆 😆mickp

Looking at the long range forecasts this arvo and they are appear to be getting worse for our trip
Rain appears to be a high probability in Qld, NSW, Vic & SA around that week we are planning to ride
Should put the bush fires out – it will make someone happy at least
