A little while a go I was up at the pines camping area in the Wattagans.
Two guys in their monster trucks were driving over the picnic furniture and up the side of the water tank, apparently to amuse their wives and small children who were watching.
What really gave me the shits there were a bunch of dirt bikers loading their bikes watching this and they said and did ………. nothing.

It was left to me to go and give these tonka toy guys a spray and then endure the attacks from their bogan wives.
How dare I use language like that in front of their children!

    Cheers

What no time to smell the roses or investigate that interesting and occasional goat track?
    err….. scrap that idea

    You go for it!

I’ll be interested to know, if it gets cold and wet, do you sing to yourself to maintain focus within the confines of your own helmet?
Or do you scream and cuss like I do, in the hope the weather takes offence and buggers off?

    cheers

Great you have 4×4 support as it makes the riding easier and enjoyable if you can offload some items. The ute helps in collecting firewood. Wonderful experience.
With my andy bags I used a standard rack and wooden plywood sheet to bolt the bags to the frame.
I use 20 litre water jerrys as inserts and rope handle. These double as buckets / seats as well.

Here is the Ebay link to the items I have purchased.
These are simple and robust with only one beam which is too bright to used as always on running lights.
I have installed dual beams on my other bikes and these are more complicated with many parts/harness to fail (which has happened to me )

Took my helmet off and I hped it rolled all the way downt to the road and screamed. A camper heard my call an sprinted up the hill to stem blood flow and organize help. Big Thanks to Steve and clubby the campers and all the services that swung into action. Rod inserted in my leg and big apology guys for causising so much trouble

Great report as I read from a hospital bed in Orange. Broken femur near hip and lot of blood loss. Stupidly took off up a goat track hill climb while waiting for the group. Rock step sent me off on the downside as the bike then landed on top of me. I was not obvious from the road and as the bikes went past I was seriously thinking this may be the end of the line for me.

I have loaded the route on a zumo 220 and 550 no problem at all and a 60 and a 62. The zumos need a route not a track. I did the route so I know it works I tested it over and over sorry you may have operator error or Steve has forwarded you the wrong route. He was sending both routes I thought. I spoke with him yesterday and he hadn’t had anyone report problems because I asked. Did you get the route from Steve via email or have you tried to load it from my every trail account / link. If that’s the case it won’t work because it’s not complete and wasn’t made to load from that only view

    Hope that helps

I loaded it from the everytrail site which had two tracks in one file.
It had to be converted to load into mapsource and it seems to be complete.

Have you thought about adding a set of LED driving lights.
The more expensive have high and low beams and really do a good job. I have them mounted on both the Multistrada and the 690.
Small and inoffensive to mount and can packa a punch for the lower power input.

I found the everytrail link to the GPX file would not work with my mapsource program and a ZUMO.
I have extracted each day route as a file and made it compatible see attached files

Went out for Sunday ride in the Watagans with some of the boys from OE.
I have to say I am impressed with the handling of this bike. With my old 990, to keep up with the lighter bikes I had to abuse the power on the flats and hit the brakes on the erosion mounds or risk ploughing a deep trench. This bike promotes smoothness with no need to compromise in response to the terrain. Far less vibrations than the old 640 engine and quite happily cruises at 130kph + . A very tall bike which leaves me revelling in the added clearance. The broad torque sees me maintaining the one gear for 2 changes needed in the other bikes.

This may very well be a contender for the best all round adventure bike.

Did I say that I love it?

Just mounted the Happy Trails Pannier racks which are a solid and robust bit of kit. A few mods were required to accommodate the B&B rack.
    Will post a pic later.
