Any water, river or creek frontage?

    What roads it on?

I just bought the black before coming back over to Batam but only had a 2Gb card which lasted about 8 minutes. I bought a 32Gb here as well as an 8Gb for about $35 bucks. I don’t know what speed they are but the first time I used it with the new cards the replay on the computer was too rough. Every now and then it would play normally for a couple of seconds then it would go back to being jerky.

I have got it set on the same as you now MLC and it seems better for the 25 seconds I tried it.

The next issue I will have is being able to upload video, the internet service is pretty slow over here.

I took the Sandisk ultra 64gig back to the shop, as the gopro site recommended it only for the white and silver models.

I couldn’t find the models they recommended for the black, but grabbed a 32gig Sandisk extreme (80mb/sec as opposed to the ultra’s 30mb/sec) which the guy at Dick Smiths told me was proven to work properly in the black Gopro. He said he had seen plenty of problems with cards in the gopro and these were tried and proven.

I’d really like to try the Lexar professional, but couldn’t find one.

    Welcome MLC

You’re in the right place for some great riding at Bonnys. Should take up Micks offer and do some around Bago total different compare to Jolly Nose.

Talk to Rod from Mud Tar he lives at Bonnys and is all ways looking for a ride on Sundays or after work in day light savings.

    Enjoy the site

    Cheers

    Cheers mate,

As soon as I get a trailer I’ll be all over Micks offer (cheers Mick) and yes I know Rod and was tossing up calling him tomorrow, he’s a nice bloke.

Got some good responses, just need my trailer (on order) so I can go and meet them.

I am keen as mustard after last weekends ride to hit it as much as possible.

Settings sound good mate but protune requires a very fast card. You need a 45mb/s card to keep up with the buffer. It also uses a very flat colour profile so you will need to play with that in the editor or it will look washed out. If you do adjust it though you can get much more detail than the standard compressed footage. If however, you don’t want to have to mess with balance, contrast and saturation in post production then turn protune off.

Bugger…I just spent a hundred bucks on the card they told me to get (64 Gig/Class 10), but it also says “up to 30 MB/second, 200x”

Have I been told the wrong thing?

I turned protune off and it goes from 50fps to 48fps by itself, does that make any difference?

I’m filming indoors so turned it from wide to medium as well as it made the walls round

Turn protune off and you only need a 20mb/s card so you will be fine. 64 Gig card is huge so you stand very little chance of running out of card space. I use a mix of medium and wide depending on the shot and location. Narrow is not much use.

Thanks for that, I turned the protune off.

As it goes the disk the wankers sold me is the one they’ve had HEAPS of trouble with in the black gopro.

It’s even mentioned on the gopro site that it’s only recommended for the silver and white models.

I’ll just head back down tomorrow and return it, they should’ve known that much about their product.

Yes, I could probably just use a 32gig as well.

I usually do my homework a lot better than that, just got carried away a bit :S

    OK,

I was leaning toward the 2L and didn’t want something too big.

I know everyone recommended the mule, but I just spotted the 3L Lobo for 75 bucks delivered and pushed the button.

Truth is I’ve got 2 teenage boys and a missus and we’ll all end up riding, camping, etc so I can try a couple.

Few little issues, but loving it so far.

For those coke bottle heads like myself, I got Scott OTG’s (over the glasses) to wear over my perscription Oakleys and they worked a treat.

Little bit of fogging when stopped but generally all good.

Did you get it from MudNTar? I got mine there and they are a great little shop.

No, I got it new old stock from cairns for 8k then shipped it down.

Rod from Mud&Tar pre delivered it for me and the new importer gave me full warranty.

Yes they are a nice shop and good people.

So you’re running the same bike? How’s it gone for you?

Yeah, I’ll probably just go with the mule.

That Wolfman looks pretty cool but it’s a bit more pricey than I’d want to go with.

The blokes I went with on the weekend had something a bit smaller that they wore over their armor but under their jerseys.

The Camelbaks seemed pretty cheap on ebay (hope they’re not copies) so it wouldn’t be too bad having something like a small 1.5-2l as well just for half day rides.

I do use AdventureMoto, got a cool set of Klim pants at a good price there.

    Cheers all,

    Appreciate the welcome.

Mick I’ll send you a PM, and if any other locals want to get in touch please do.

I work from home and am happy to “drop tools” at short notice to go for a burn.

    Haven’t got a trailer yet…coming.
