Oops. Just put a post on Murph’s thread. I’m really not very good at this technology stuff.

Great weekend. Always good to have a ride with the mates, and make a few new ones as well. Thanks to all concerned. I still hate dust.
I even managed to get to sleep before Kram on saturday night, which is always a big bonus!

Our reigning monarch is good fun to get on the giggle juice with, and was in fine form. Funny as.

Again thanks to all, and looking forward to the next event.

    My highlights.

Having bets on how late Kram would be to our rendevous. Turns out we underestimated him!

Great ride down to Gloucester, then over Barringtons to Moonan Flat. After that it was just painfull tar.

Catching up with everyone at St Albans.

The look on Kram’s face as he was explaining all the things we had buggered up so far with regard to our new GPS units. [no maps, no connecting screws, I would have loved to have had a blood pressure machine hooked up to T.B ]

Strucky, the master navigator. As he had a tank bag with a clear pocket on top, he was instantly voted our lead man. Good choice, as he also doesn’t kill as many brain cells on a nightly basis as Toes, Kram or myself.

Awesome scenery, great trails, just enough rain to settle the dust in places.

    Bridle Trail.

Some really open, slidey dusty roan heading towards Rylestone. Great fun.

Toes and strucky then headed for home[ thanks for the company gents] With Kram and myself heading through Elliston up to Nundle for a night at the Peel Valley Inn. Old mate did us a room and brekky deal, Better than camping at that stage of the day. Clean rooms, good food, and friendly service. Even better, they didn’t have a twin room made up, so we had to have seperate rooms. As anyone who has roomed with Kram will tell you, this means a lot more peacefull nights sleep. We were too buggered to even play up a little bit, couple of beers, tea then bed.

Home through Nowendoc, Tia , Kangaroo Flat then down into the top of the Hastings topped off a great weekend.

Thanks T.B for dragging us kicking and screaming into the new technology era, not to mention the whole weekend. Good on you mate.

Strucky, Toes and Kram for the company.

Glad to see you all again.

Just had my first look at the whole report for the first time. Without service on the etcha sketch in some of the places we were at, Kram and I were a little out of touch at times!

It was without doubt the biggest and best adventure I’ve ever had.

Little DRs did the job well.

    Exhausted.

    Company was outstanding.

Top stuff T.B, you’ve raised the bar again.

Can’t believe you blokes [ girls?] let me go out with my dress on backwards though.

    Thanks again T.B

While changing a rear tyre this arvo I had a little lever slip.
Result, broken little finger just above pre existing plate, and the end of it hanging down like a broken dick due to ligament or tendon damage. Just tried to grip a pair of bars and its not happening. Off to fracture clinic tommorow pm.

Worst part is tyre still half done.

I’m out for weekend. Sorry everybody. (really sorry) Strucky, I realise I owe you money for the room. Just let me know and I’ll square it up.

    Everyone enjoy and stay safe.

Can’t type anymore. (huh huh, couldn’t type much better before )

Crikey, I’m confused. Sheep, goats, wheelies through the carry park to get bacon and eggs in lingerie. Bloody interweb thingy is doing my head in. Sounds like fun though!

Back when I was a young apprentice my family went out to do the Birdsville track etc, leaving me at home to milk the cows. The day they were supposed to arrive home came and went. Seven days later Birdsville police rang to say they were safe, but stuck on a sand dune with the whole area flooded, and wouldn’t be moving for another week. They ran out of food etc. a couple of times in between ariel food drops, but eventually made it home about two and a half weeks later than planned.
My boss, though understanding, was very pissed off in general.

Unfortunately Kath knows this story all to well, as I was working for her Dad at the time. Therefore my already sketchy leave pass has been officialy revoked. Apparantely neither her or the bank manager could cope with the above mentioned situation, however unlikely.

I therefore withdraw from this ride with a heavy heart. I wish you all the best, apoligies to all involved.
Look forward to hearing all about it when you get back.

Just as a quick aside, Just got back from AORC round at Salisbury where I took Kath to sweet talk her into letting me go on the ride. Failed miserably. Wettest race meet I have ever imagined.
Over twenty of the pro and experts could not complete the parade lap, with the sweeps even having to help some of the biggest names in the sport!! Getting out was acheived with nearly every vehicle being pulled by either Protty’s troopy or the landowners 100 hp 4wd tractor. This was a very bad weekend to put my case to the bride, completely backfired on me! [ George got 3rd in J3!! ]

    All the best,

I’ll see what I can get away with. Possibly pushing things with The Boss though.
See you if possible all the same. Apparantely not building pony express tracks.

Nope, did this all by myself.Kath can’t be in the same room when I type.

Only took me 2 hours and 4 beers!!!!:( :(

See that, I even used one of those smiley thingamajigs!

Can’t wait. I don’t want to lead senior parade lap though. Think young George is racing, so that will make it even better.
Hope the weather is kind in the leadup to the event. We might try to get a quickshade, chairs and esky up the hill this time I reckon. Be nice to just sit down and take a breather every now and then.

Got home this morning after leaving the lads at Bellbrook this morning. It was just too tempting to come home when I was only an hour or so away.

Great ride. The first day had us through to Tabulam for a refuel at a very colourful little servo, followed by the famous Rocky river road that T.B and Nick had been raving about since their last trip. They hadn’t been wrong about it. Awesome.
Then on through farm and bush tracks to the New England hwy. Whilst geographicaly challenged at one point on a beautiful property, we spotted a Landcruiser ute with the obligatory 6 dogs chasing it heading our way. We pulled up and waited for the usual ensuing blast that usually follows, even though we hadn’t gone past any keep out signs etc.
“G’day fellas, where are yuz trying to get ta” was a much better response than we were expecting. Nick explained our goals, pointing out that we couldn’t find a crossing for the bloody great river in front of us. “Didja try up there at the end of the next paddock?” We then said that we had a look at it, but it was too deep.
He then took us to a set of rapids near where the crossing had washed away in the last flood. He waded in, in his gumboots and was prepared to start helping walk bikes across.
T.B walked his bike in first (which was pretty brave remembering oh hang on.Don’t mention the war.) With Nick and I assisting we got as far as the rim, when the current started sliding the bike on the green, slimy stones. At this stage out feet also started sliding. An executive decision was instantly made to abort!!
“No worries fellas, if you come back next time, I gotta dozer coming soon to fix up the crossin’.Come back next time and yuz can get get across no worries.”
And we thought he was going to tear strips off us like most people do. Top bloke.

Then onto Glen Innes a nice warm motel room and a night at the pub, as the forecast was for snow. Unsurprisingly no-one wanted to camp.

Slow start next morning as it was pouring rain and freezing.Old Grafton road was a great way to start off the day, with one detour on a contour mound littered hillclimb catching Richard out. No harm done though. Spent the next hour or so dodging “would be” rally drivers in some charity event coming head on at us. Frightening stuff, glad I wasn’t leading. Roadside cook up for lunch, then back up into the mountains heading south.
Copped most extreme weather all arvo, including howling cross winds, hail, (twice) Bugger the tablelands, it was cold. Then dropped onto the Armidale road and headed east. Almost immediately it started warming up. Beauty.
Top ride down to Bellbrook then, culminating in a three way Moto GP style battle the last few kays to the pub. I don’t mind riding along steady, but its always fun being first to the schooies as the end of the day.
Good feed last night, and probably only 2 or 3 too many beers etc. too many.
The others left around 6.45am, and then I packed up and headed home.

    It’s been a top ride.

Thanks to Nick and family for the hospitality, and Nick and T.B for all their usual efforts with the mapping and organising. We all know what a thankless and frustrating task it can be, and we appreciate it.

    I’ve had a ball.

Glad your going to be there Kram. When the Mayor and I got drunkenly lost trying to find our cabin last year, your laugh was our only reference point for navigation.
Even tripped over a kangaroo during our three laps of the park.
Bring it on baby, I mean your royal Highness!

Great stuff Nick.I haven’t been told I can’t go, so if you could pencil me in that would be great. The DR is currently in the shop having new springs fitted, but I still have the “Twin Towers” luggage system. Keen for a ride though.

Mick, we might as well convoy up with you guys, I’ll just have to stop at the chemist and get some brave pills.
Did I leave my kidney belt in the patrol at Kundabung?
