Good onya Bill, I might just day trip if thats o.k. George will be away, Alex still has a broken foot, and a broken hand, and I just won’t tell Laura!!
Can’t wait to get the “Lil punkin” out on your sweet trails mate.Great weekend, top ride reports !! Not much more I can add except thanks to Rider X,Dave & crew and especially Mick for all the behind the scenes stuff that he makes look easy. The weekend was so well organized.
Good to ride with the away crew & locals alike. It’s funny putting faces & personalities to people you havn’t met before, having only read their posts.
Thanks again folks.
MooseOh yeah, go the “Lil’ Punkin’ “
Awesome day out folks. Shame about my tyre selection and inflation issues though. I still had the Michy T63s that had been put on for our Gingers crk run, inflated to 25 lbs.If only a bloke wasn’t so lazy….
The dual sport ride should be a winner though. Can’t wait to ride with you all
Might go to the shed and do some tyre changing.
Cheers, Moose.Sorry everybody, I have to withdraw from this ride.Kath has to have an operation on Wed. so I have to do the right thing so I get my leave pass for Acca Dacca the following weekend.
When I was a kid my aunty used to take us picnicking and bushwalking in the Chichester area, so I was really looking forward to riding the area.
Oh well, maybe next time.
Cheers, Moose.Good stuff guys, sounds like fun. Bit rude when a bloke from Mangrove Mountain calls us imbred hicks though.Better go now, just got time to watch “Deliverance” before work.
Taylors Arm rocks.Big long hills, sweet leafy trails and erosion jumps that had Ol’ Burple bottoming out and clanking a lot more than usual.
Everyone else summed up well with their ride reports, and Heart attack Hill was worth the effort for the trails that preceded it.
There is just one problem. I’VE BUSTED BURPLE!!
Broken headlight, taillight, exhaust, twisted front end.
First run at hill saw me lose traction, so I went back down and let a few lbs out of my rear tyre. Second run, got so much traction that the big girl went completely over, flipping in slow motion!! Thank goodness I got up on third attempt, as I was as busted as my bike! I didn’t start to feel right till this arvo. Body just ran out of fluids I suspect.
Thanks to Corey and Nathan for the weekend, looking forward to your photos Corey.Sorry guys, like I said Santa brought me the camera at Christmas.
Thanks for fixing my mess Mick. I just wanted to be a smartass and to do a ride report with piccies unassisted. If you guys only knew the levels of my computer skills you would laugh your ass off.
Kath can’t even be in thee same room as me when I type! :laugh:I can’t believe how we’ve lucked it with the weather this hol’s.
I’d much rather ride in mud than dust anyday
Thank’s Mick for organizing the day’s entertainment, it was awesome as usual. Also it was great fun to have a run in the pack, thanks to Ollie for taking the vest off me
Great bunch of blokes to ride with, there wasn’t a huge gulf in rider speed that you sometimes get.
Santa brought me a new camera, so piccies from the day include..
Micks XR throwing a wobbly(Oh the shame of a Honda breaking down on a ride full of eurotrash.)Trailside dry out stop
Mick pinching bits off a Gasser to rectify his Honda(Oh the shame)
Ollies dodgy trailside snacks
Swans crossing goggle clean and rest stop.
Andrew on the Beemer
Stex on the Kato 450
Kram on the Husky 310
Tiny on the Husky 610
Pete having inflation problems
Rocket Rod and Stex hauling the Gasser up out of a gully
Kram’s turn
Andrew having traction issues
Don’t you just love it when you get to the bottom of a snotty hill and there is a dickhead up the top with a camera.
All in all it was a great day out in trying conditions. I loved towing the Gasser out after it ran out of fuel, while Mick went back in the bush with a tow rope looking for the Beemer with the same problem. Perhaps the Eurotrash designers need to come with us for a weekend to see what Aussie riders need in a bike. Either that or just copy the XR 600 design plans. Works for me!!
Cheers, Moose.Wicked couple of days riding. Pretty hard to beat riding fresh, private trails with your mates and kids.As usual though, the evening b.s session as funny as the riding.
It’s always nice to actually ride with the boy’s instead of just watching them tear around a motocross track.Costs a whole lot less too! The boys are all showing the signs of improvement of another year of commpetion and general skills practicing, and despite “The Rat’s” coaching they are all riding really well. Only joking Dave, they learn more from the incidental things that you speak to them about that it would make you proud, plus they are great fun to ride with as their skill levels improve. I didn’t realise how fast and effortlessly George was riding until this trip.
Thanks Mick for organizing the trip as well as cooking when I was “sociably excited” and lazy again.
I hope all O.B’s enjoy 2010 as much as I’ve enjoyed riding with you all this last year gone.
Cheers, MooseHappy b’day Kram.Hope all’s well. Hope to catch up for a beer and a jam soon.
I can’t believe how good life is sometimes, family and friends over for a great barby Saturday night, and now a couple of weeks holiday to get over it!
Thanks to all O.B,s and their familys for the company, and all the well wishers.
Better go fit some blingy bits to ol’ Burple.See attached images for tuning mods.
Fella’s, my neice put a set of spokeydokes on “O’l Burple” about 9 years ago.I’ve found the blue works best for the high speed damping, yellow for rebound, pink for low speed, red wards off evil spirits. Hope this tuning advice works as well for Mexicans like Spidey as what it does here in Godzone country. I’ve found it a big help with my riding.
I really didn’t mean to end up with a shed full like that, some of them just followed me home, I swear. By the way the yz 125 is actually a “C” model, I think they were the first production bike with a single shock rear end. The old dakdak my dad bought new(his first car) then sold it to my Grandad who left it to me when he died. Like most farm kids I learned to drive in it really young sitting on Grandads lap. That old car is a true part of the family. I must get on to restoring it, but somehow firing up “Old Burple” and going for a ride always seems like more fun.
Great weekend everybody concerned. The company is usually the highlight of O.B.T weekends and this one was no exception.Great to catch up with all again. Thanks to organizers and admin. for everything. Gotta go, Kath says its time to do the dishes. Thanks T.B
