yeah,
I dont use it in my cars so bke wasnt either, just wondering…bit of wild turkey starts these ideassweet footage.
you were on your feet pretty quick.what do you get for money?
depends how you look at it. what I get is a chance to ride somewhere I dont normally go.
marked trails with sweeps to pick up those who cant quite get there.
ambulance/rescue on hand if things turn to shit
hot breakfast and lunch handed to me without anymore effoert than stand in a line. this is done by the local school and it is usually kids working at the counter.this helps local school projects
a chance to win a new bike ,as well as a heap of other prizes.
toilets
free camping,a bonfire and live band.
these people also clearup any crap left behind so that they will be allowed to run it again next year.
are reading today that its gonna cost $7 dollars/hour to park at Bondi, I dont think it is over the top. if you dont like, dont go,but dont knock people who put in a lot of their free time for our sport.I`m goin,
taking son, Old Bloke is goin too, along with some others from former workplace.
went last 2 years, talk about chalk and cheese. dusty as hell or flash floods and near darkness at mid-day. we were lucky enough to get onto 2nd loop before they closed it, was certainly a memorable ride. we managed to miss most of the carnage on loop 1 by going early.hey mal, look for us at the bonfire….
I`ll look for roys fat thumb
morgoyep,

murph does it again!!
kind of makes dogwatch alright, not that Im chicken but that looks like some hard yakka.
great terrain, photos give good indication of how steep it is.
would like some commentary on the pic of bloke going over the front of his bike.roy, why is it that when we ride together its carnage, when you lead its carnage, when I lead …very little carnage..on the same trails..hmm
to be fair these Basin rides are on another level.
Be good to read other riders accounts.no good for me either this weekend- new roster:( plus start dogwatch tonight for first time in about 11 years.:S :S

hey,
I usually go ,have done for past 5 years straight, but not going this year. Police squareheads have squeezed the life out of it.Plus alcohol bans have become a profit gouging exercise for organisers. The race is still good and is a must do for those never been but take plenty of cash. They cant stop you taking an esky of foodand soft drink YET .
if looking for a cheap camp spot , the cricket ground in town has free camping but zero amenities.plus you can watch the bus loads of police go to the mountain, from their bunker a the showground.actually this is quite interesting to see, as an absolute fortune is spent by the cops this weekend.
like I said before it is a must do for those who havnt been.morgo
hey scotty,
Im looking to ride on sunday, it will be pretty much the same loop that caused the shoulder injury in the first place.
I was going to post ride inthe next day or two once I could confirm a few things. Murph and son are off to buladelah i think, so will be looking for riders. Good to see you back in the saddle.
Morgomurph,
nice report.its good to see in print the backhand side talking I get when you ring me.
Hey Mal, he must ring you after me , because I only get the half turkey version. Murph has learned that its not such a good idea to ring my place late, especially since I work afternoonshift and the wife is not amused anymore:angry:
Anyway, murph,dont change a thing.
Morgonormally I would consider it grade 3-3.5 but the mud upped it to 4-4.5
by the way we dropped off 2 technical sections in the interestof time.the rock drop off that we have photos of from previuos rides was missed .

men,
glad you enjoyed it. I must admit I was surprised by how wet it was , some water holes I noticed still had water running into them. It was a good test for all. I just wish I had ahelmet-cam to capture all the lay-downs happening in front of me.
Scotty sorry to hear about the injury.must be a tough little bloke.didnt whinge or back off on the ride home. All I can say is bring on the next victims,I mean riders..
morgo
P.S – hey roy,how wet was the swamp in the back of the bangalows?
murf,
if you run out of parking space send them round to my street, heaps of room.
