There are many jettings pecs available for the bike that work as a good baseline and every bit as well as the (or better) than the JD kit. Ah well, have a play with that and have fun, it will be an improvement over stock as they are delivered rich and blubbery from the factory.
If you have any other set-up questions feel free to ask, I spent alot of fiddliing with my 300 to get it just right and may be able to save you from a bum steer in the future
I’m surprised Mick can work a computer, they were only invented in Wauchope 2 years ago
Nice ride by the way Razzle. I have a 2012 Berg and had a KTM300 so I know the fun you’ll have

Thanks STM
They are gay, you’ll be adventure riding next! Even worse you might try and trade your bike for a 250 Rhonda!
When pasting from Photobucket click on the link that says ‘IMG code’ and it will post the pic directly into the forum without the hyperllink
Something like this:
A very subjective subject. Everyone has their own way that their mechanic told them, the best mates dad used to race camels and did it this way or even they read on the internerd. I went with the way that makes most sense to me which was to ensure you bed the rings in and get a good seal before they glaze over if you ride it like a fairy as you have less pressure forcing them out onto the cylinder wall.
Either way you do it you won’t kill the bike, bedding the rings in properly will provide better compression though. I do this by going for a ride and loading the motor up in 3rd-4th gear (after warm of course). This doesn’t mean full throttle, it means loading the engine. Do this repeatedly for around 20-30Km’s where you can, even a fire trail if a dirt bike, and then just let rip.
Drop the oil after an hour or two as well to get some nice fresh stuff in there and the metal crap out. I’ve done this on a few bikes now and they’ve all been fine and all blown good compression when checked down the track. Except the Berg where I haven’t obviously measured the compression yet.
Most engines are redlined before they leave the factory anyway to test they work through the rev range. Hardly a case for the ‘babying’ method.

Good work Snowy.
How did the new 250x go yesterday LC?

The exhaust valves shit themselves
Happy belated Birthday mate
July 8, 2012 at 2:25 pm in reply to: Expressions of interest for Stockton Beach ride 28th, 29th July #225676Singles are sand. Not as deep as the dunes but a paddle will be alright in there. If transporting down the powerline track though the paddle might be a bit, errrr, bumpy!
I don’t think they’re needed anyway, once you’re up and running a decent knobbie run at 3-5psi is fine. I’m gunna still be running the mousse in mine, 13psi
I’ve now ridden both, the 350 on recently. I would take the 350 every day of the week. The 390 is a boring bike to ride.
I’m with you on the looks though, the Bergs look better.
I reckon the shootouts are pretty much worthless. KTM win alot because they have a massive budget for advertising and marketing. They do it with riders too, they just buy the best riders so they can be seen to win all the time. A good business strategy I suppose, they certainly sell a load of bikes.
The Huskies might be getting better but holy hell are they ugly. They need to sack the retard who designed them and get someone without severely imapired vision on the job and I think that would be a big help. Take a page out of Gas Gas’s book in that regard.
No matter how good the bike I wouldn’t buy it if looked like a giant POS!

This is what happens when I’m away from home:
I generally think ADV riding is for homo’s but I would gladly go on this trip, the pics look awesome, keep it up guys and ride safe.
Just looked and they are on the Peninsula Devlopment Road, Musgrave airfield and TB’s last 2 spot tracker logs shows them on the runway!! 😆
So have you sorted this out or what? It’s only a bit over 2 months away now. I’ve got some stuff going in and around that date so is it on like King Kong or shall I sit on the fence for a bit longer?
The Berg is telling me she wants to ride up those long, steep, slippery hills and roost the shizzle out of Tom!
July 1, 2012 at 7:57 pm in reply to: Expressions of interest for Stockton Beach ride 28th, 29th July #225351They do go farther South, you can do the ‘up and down’ section next to the road for a few Km’s then join in farther down, that’s where I don’t know my way real well. The tracks there are better but it’s easier to get lost and go in cirlces, I’ve only ridden in that section once with Diddel and we both rode round in circles!
We’ll have to do an exploratory ride and try and sort a loop for later in the year if you’re keen. The above tracks are still quite tiring but they follow those concrete tank trap blocks for a bit which is quite cool. Gets very spidery in the warmer months too, I made Diddel go in front and he was covered in them!!
July 1, 2012 at 6:26 pm in reply to: Expressions of interest for Stockton Beach ride 28th, 29th July #225331Ummmm….you might want to watch the singles. I know where they are, have ridden most but aren’t really sure I could lead a ride through them much less want to either.
They mostly concist of massive whoops, ranging from deep to very deep and spaced apart at difefrent distances. They are not easy to ride and don’t give you a break whatsoever, I’m rooted after riding them for 5 minutes.
If you want to take a group there I can show you a good place to start riding them, a good portion are just off the powerline track. We could even go to Murray’s brewery
