Hey Moto, did go off with a bang ? If it did, it must have frightened shit out of you :pinch:

Yes, the cover blew out and hit my boot along with a gob full of oil. I did move my leg rather fast  The spring was scarping on the casing once it popped out so it wasn’t making a good noise!

Cheers for the offer rickybobby :P I can’t take the bike to the dealer until next Sat but hope it doesn’t take too long to get sorted.

Funny thing is part of getting a new bike was to start to ride every weekend again and get some miles in. Of the 5 or so weeks I’ve had it this will be the second weekend of riding I’ll miss!

It was ripping on Sat morning though :woohoo:

Minusone – Yes, the bolt gouged the engine case causing the failure. I’m sure the bike will work fine with a simple flush and new parts but I don’t believe it’s the most sensible long term fix.

The banjo filter filtering oil to the head isn’t fine enough to catch the smallest alloy particles so they will be everywhere. When they are that fine they ingress into bearings and every nook and cranny.

The only proper option is a strip down, anything else is half arsing it and asking for trouble. I don’t want the big end or gearbox bearings flogging out when I’m a few months out of warranty.

Jesus bad luck mate  That’s a full rebuilt it reckon, shit! That fine aluminum gets everywhere

Did the clutch pressure plate bolt come loose or did it snap first?

    TB

I can’t see the bolt or spring retainer. It looks to have come loose, not snapped, and is either on the road to Laguna or floating around in the engine.

I’m actually in quite good spirits about it (don’t really know why) and as long as it gets fixed in the appropriate manner I’m sure it will be fine.

I do want it completely stripped down and every bearing replaced though. The oil looks like metallic paint and the aluminium fines will be absolutely everywhere.

I’m not blaming anyone, as TB says it’s one of those things nobody could pick would happen. It’s happened to me which is rather unfortunate given the ‘teething’ issues I already had though.

It’s had a tough few weeks though. I’ve managed to bend both radiators, rip the seat and dent the header pipe! Maybe I should learn to ride better

I had some teething issues but all good now and loving the new ride. I can ride the 570 99.99% as fast through the single track as I could the 300, most impressive for bike with almost 566cc’s!

The local guy I ride with can’t quite believe it when we come out of a section of single and I’m sat right behind him :D

New 12 Model gasgas is about 40 mm taller in the seat. I have a mate who has the 10 model GG Nambotin and he is 6’4 and and fits nicely in it. He may have bar raisers but that is it. Has KTM/Berg fixed the starter motor issue yet ?

    Ollie

No the starters are still an afterthought and are still shit. Mine wasn’t all that bad after the bedix was repolaced on it’s second ride. Plenty of others are woeful though.

I think you should be careful scotty with having an officially organised breakfast. What would happen if somebody was to choke on their bacon. perhaps for legal reasons you should say that you will point them in the direction of the buffet. :silly:

He could tell the police it was MC Chronic that organised the breakfast but as it’s early in the morning MC Chronic will be nowhere to be seen. Like a vampiric stalker of the night MC Chronic appears and dis-appears at will. Truly an enigma.

Mike has already booked our cabin up, sweet!

The biggest point to note is that the Gas Gas’ are smaller bikes. They feel smaller and have a lower seat height. If you like riding extreme shit this would be an advantage in my eyes. Also if you are vertically challenged this may be an advantage also.

If you’re a really bug unit you may find it a little cramped. A couple of years ago I wouldn’t have looked at a Gas Gas but these days they look great and are every bit as good as the other 300’s on offer from KTM/Berg.

Berg gets the CC forks, do the new KTM’s? They might do, can’t remember now.

Never tried beach riding bar the quick trips at coffs ride. So lightly pencil me in if its my weekend off i am in like flinn

This isn’t like riding up the (flat) beach. There are some decent sand hills to have a go at and some high spend tracks to burn on (at the legal 40Km/h limit of course) if you’re keen.

You’re a fussy bugger mudflap. I threw you some bacon and it took you about 5 minutes and several sniffs to eat it. Then again it was Bob’s bacon :D

I should be good for that weekend and can help with the trails. I know Pagies hill, it has taken a few but is generally okay to get up. It leads into ‘the basin’ where the turbocharged quads race each other.

At that time of year the sand will be firmer than summer making it much easier to ride.

Nice stuff Jeffro. I’d be keen for a blast up the dunes on the 570. I know my way around reasonably well and can do a mix of riding from Lavis Lane right the way up to Anna Bay for lunch and fuel and then back via Tin City and the Cigna wreck.

Let me know when you’re keen for a burn and we;ll sort something out :)

Terrain would be a mix of fast flowing whooped out singles, big dunes, the fast tracks between the dunes and ocean and some up the beach stuff for a breather (or not!).

It had a top weekend considering I was just taking my bike for a drive around the countryside and happened upon a few dudes who asked if I wanted to ride with them.

Camp drunkasf*ck was already set-up when I arrived so we decided to decided to go for a ride. Sweet trails, slippery and rocky as but good fine, how good were the pine singles??

Friday night was a quiet affair. I only had one carton of beer so I was fresh for Galeys ride Saturday. The day went without too many drama’s other than a busted radiator bringing us back to camp earlier than anticipated.

Electing not to go out for another loop in the rain I stayed in camp with LC and a few others. It was another relatively quiet night really, people came and went through the night. The only other things I can really think of are:

MC Chronic busting out some mad raps to Chrisso on the guitar and me and Menace on harmonica’s.

Sam’s drunken antics and placebo beer in beer in his hand pose.

    Bob jibbering into the camera.

Me spilling a bottle of vodka (in my mouth) after lots of beers and falling onto the tent I’m supposed to be sleeping in.

    LC spewing his hole up.

Menace pissing 850ml into a bottle in his van.

Pep falling arse over tit into the mud.

Nath pulling out the gansta poses (there is photographic evidence).

The other things that I can’t even remember.

Question: Does a turd make a sound falling into the woods if there’s noone there to hear it?
Answer: It does if the turdee is drunk and slips on the pine needles barely preventing himself from falling into the creek!

You should of had a go Menace. I rebuilt my Kato wheels and painted the hubs not long before I sold it, I found it quite theraputic!
