Big thanks to Scotty for what was a great weekend. The drive up on Friday morning saw nothing but torrential rain and I wondered what the trails would be like. Once we arrived and got going I realised that they were actually very good and we were in for a good weekend.

With the rain being held back for Saturday the conditions were near perfect and everyone seemed to have a ball. For a ride with nearly 50 bikes in a single group the the flow was great and there were hardly any stops at all, the ones we did have were a welcome break for most I think!

It was great to catch up with some old faces (TB’s face is pretty old) and also meet new ones such as NickJ and Bollocks and many others that would take too long to mention.

I’ll save the video of my red hot attempt of the widow maker into my collection, one to be proud of, go the smokers!! Menace is a bad man, I knew that anyway but with the beers flowing by just after 3pm it was always going to be an early night for me I suppose!!

A top effort raising money for charity, my spring break DVD is excellent but the ADV vids will go to a good home un-watched. :D Congrats to Dude for the OBT award and also to spud for his skills in making the award.

Well done on putting on another top ride weekend Scotty and thanks to all that helped and swept to make the weekend run as sooth as it did.

    Cheers,

    Mo-oh

These look cool! I have a Chimanea already but like the idea of these.

A quick question though, is the muffler necessary? I don’t have one to provide. I’m thinking it will help keep the heat in the ‘pot belly’ a little longer as the flow of air is reduced (the exhaust provides a restriction).

Come to think of it, I do have an old expansion chamber which could work. With some extra piping I could use it in the lounge :P

If you can ride I reckon a 450 is the best all round bike. It will do everything well. A 300 2 banger is a close second. If you ride road or a decent bit of fire trail the 450 is the better machine, it handles long boring shit better. If you don’t often ride the road or lots of fire trail the 300 is the better bike in terms of fun factor. It is more involving to ride and harder to ride faster depending on your level of skill.

It does wear me out quicker than the 450 too but the engines are very unable so you can have it tuned as mild or as wild as you like.

The 300 is much easier to work on in general, though I think overall maintenance costs over a long period are probably similar for both bikes.

Fuel economy shouldn’t be an issue for any bike if it’s jetted properly, the 2 bangers are more sensitive to jetting for performance and fuel economy so changes make a more noticeable difference.

You need to have a ride of the bike before discounting it. If it comes down to a newer 2 banger or an older 4 banger for the same money and you are a mid level+ rider that doesn’t ride lots of open roads I’d take the 2 banger.

    Looks very tidy!

I rode LC4Skins brothers one with the pre-conception (mis-conception) that it would be a bit, well, lame! I was however pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I wonder why we don’t see more in the bush to be honest.

I’ve prepared for Coffs by not fitting new tyres. I can’t hold onto my bike as it is now let alone with any more grip!

Will I be an outcast if I don’t consume alcohol? My body is a temple and I don’t want to taint it under the strain of peer pressure. You know how it is……

Will there be a best flip award for the Widowmaker? I could do with a prize!

Yeah, forget the Widowmaker, lots of people ride up that, I wanna see someone ride out of the gully after a bit of rain!

Murph will be in his element :P It’s definitely do-able, just apparently not by me 😆

Looking forward to this ride too, haven’t really been on here to stay up to date with what’s going on but after Menace calling me last night we are sharing a Jerry (STM must have found some new trails me thinks!).

I’ll be convoying up with Meanarse and LC4. Even thinking about a new tyre despite the old being quite good :-P

Will be cool to see old and new faces.

Yeah, Mike is good at doing that. They both punt their WR’s along very nicely indeed. Looking forward to Coffs now, next proper ride for me :-)
