I’m pretty sure he’ll be doing the same loops we did Fes just after I popped that wheelie in front of you up the road. That’s the get in close to his house.

Unless you can get a new screen you’re stuffed. I did the same and had to get KTM to order one (they actually took one out of new bike for me), depends how well you know your dealer.

Of course, this is only good if it’s a later model KTM.

TB recommends his so would be worth a go if he divulges the information. Mine are Motion Pro and I wouldn’t recommend them. That’s one of many of the list.

Do you think the air that’s being sucked in and pressurizing the fork would effect front end handling?

It will make your fork much harsher feeling. The oil in the fork is used to create resistance as it pushes through your valve, this resistance, combined with the spring (pushing the other way)effects the compression of your fork. Liquids are not compressible so the the action is very smooth and linear through the stroke.

The other element is the air gap that is run in the fork. This is the difference between the oil level and the top of your fork. The air gap provides an additional level of spring but because air is a gas it’s compressible. The result is that the air will compress as the fork moves through it’s travel (it has nowhere to go between the oil and fork tube and the pressure of the air builds (very quickly). It is this same pressure, along with the action of the spring that forces the fork to extend back to it’s normal position (rebound circuit).

The air gap should be set at atmospheric pressure, that basically means with the forks fully extended. If you bleed the screws with the forks partially compressed you effectively are reducing the air gap and the travel of your forks as the they will not want to travel back to full extension due to the vacuum effect.

Cheap fork bleeders (I have motion Pro ones on my 450 and they suck air) can act like a 1 way valve sucking air into your fork on the rebound stroke but not releasing it (pushing it out) on the compression stroke. The nett effect is that the pressure builds up in the air chamber increasing resistance to the compression stroke and making your forks feel harsh.

In summary, cheap ones will cause more harm than good, if you can guarantee decent ones won’t pass air (either way) then they would be the go.

This is my view of what happens, if you don’t like it, tough :)

Unfortunately I’m out of this ride. Shame as I would have liked to be there given the attendance list and knowing how good the riding is :(

I am gunna leave your name on the list. You have more ups and downs than a brides night dress.

True Mick but I think our good man is out of the country

    TB

Mick, you are quite correct but TB is too and I definitely won’t be there. I have planes booked and flight schedules sorted and they all say I’m not going to make it. I did indicate in my first post that it’s dependent on work stuff.

    Bummer for me :(

I understand mate and I’m not getting defensive about XR’s since I can care less what anyone thinks about me or the bike I ride and which label is on it.. What I was going on about was I need help to solve a problem.. I was trying to stop ahead of time what happened last week with my simple question about what bike I should consider when I’m ready to move on..

I have had a good look through this forum and its past posts.. There are a shit load of XR cat fight threads and it is actually pretty sad to see as this is suppose to be a mature riders forum.. As someone new it is pretty un-impressive.. Once, twice maybe three times but nearly ever single thread that discusses something revolving around an XR turns into 75% of the thread being off topic and little 16 year old posts about whose d$%^k is bigger than whose..

I’m definitely not perfect and don’t get me wrong I like having a bit of fun too but the old XR jokes are a bit old and worn in my opinion… I see it on other forums as well not just this one…

Whilst I mainly agree with you, you do have to realize that this is a public forum, free to post and you, and everyone else, subject opinions for the world to see. If everyone agreed the world would be a boring place.

I get over all the bike shit too at times, but you have to learn to read through the threads and sort the shit out from the good stuff. Your post was in technical help and Admin did come along and try to restore order. Albeit having a dig a spelling afterwards

There is a lot experience around on this forum (TB will catch up one day), you almost always get a helpful response in the end :)

Now calm the fuck down people!!!! Oh wait, I’m not Admin here anymore

The welding in pictures isn’t very complicated. Any competent local fab shop should be able to do this for you a boiler maker will just charge you more. I would source the tube and take it to them to get the welding done.

Sorry for the generic response, I don’t know where you live (guessing it’s Sydney area), if you are anywhere near the Newcastle area I can recommend some places to get work done :)

It’s a good idea Scotty, but considering there are a good portion of people who don’t even pay rego I can’t see them jumping on board.

Something would be better than nothing though.

Apparently the KX450F fork seals are a better fit for the KTM/Husaberg forks and offer less friction too for anyone else considering this.

In 10,000Km of riding I have yet to experience a flat. I run UHD tubes and wouldn’t bother with non UHD tubes for the difference in price and peace of mind.

TB saw me hit a a fairly sizable rock head on at 60+ KM/h, it was big enough to kart wheel me and the bike into the bushes. Amazingly, even for a UHD tube there was no puncture!

Geez, not that it’s acceptable for anyone to die but a 17 tear old kid, he’s hardly had much of a chance at things :(

    RIP little dude.

I just got my 200 blueslipped. I had no indicators, mirrors, stand, speedo or DOT approved tyres. I did as mentioned above, called up, stated my case and he was very helpful.

This was in Newcastle though the point is if you ask around I’m sure you’ll find someone who will help.

Guy earn phonetically speaking of course :P At least that’s how all the poms pronounced the name.

Cheers for all the replies people. I was dead set and have now found a set of 661’s for less than half the price of the SG10’s, it’s thrown me a bit, only issue is they are WHITE. I’ve got 10,000Km’s outta the 661’s so that’s not bad.
