    Nice looking bike.

1 or even 3 rides isn’t enough to adapt your riding style to a 2t. It does get easier with a few rides under your belt. It took me about 5 rides to click with my 300 and then a few months to hone my skills.

In terms of power delivery you can mae these things as mild or as wild as you want, you just have to know how. If you want any help let me know, I’ve been there and done that.

Otherwise, good luck with the sale, someone will get a tidy ride :)

I’ve always used petrol and spray on air filter oil. I clean with petrol, leave to dry and then either spray the filter, turn inside and squish until even or do the bag trick (the rubber disposable gloves from Supercheap work good too for massaging in).

Petrol can be dangerous for air filters but I reckon its the older and possibly cheaper ones that suffer. I’ve used Petrol on ‘Twin Air’ filters for 4+ years across all my KTM/Bergs and never had a problem with them detoriating…..that’s not to say some other cheap filters wont though.

NoToil would be the thing I would try if I could be bothered. Twin Air or Motorex have just started advertising a similar kit.

The other thing I do is have about 10 air filters, then I only need to clean them all in one go and I’m right for several months of riding :)

As someone who isn’t scared to spend up on bike bits Razz this would be my best advice to you!

Wicked report and pics Murph, I think we all expect nothing less from you these days! Good to scene the Murphsberg still attracting their fair share of carnage!

I thought someone might have given Gazza a heads-up before hitting up a Murph ride on a PE175!!!

It was a warm day for it, I rode in Ourimbah and was cramping left, right and centre for most of the day. It’s surprising given my commitment to intense physical exercise :D

I never had a flat running Michy UHD’s for over 10,000Km’s and 2 bikes. I run mousses now though for peace of mind and not having the arse puckering moment wondering if my bad line choice is going to ruin my ride.

However they also run an air pump to assist with atomisation from the injector, not sure why.

I’m 99% sure it’s because the fuel pressure isn’t high enough to achieve sufficient mechanical atomisation. For this to happen fuel rail pressures need to be circa 30 Bar.

The waterproof case is available now for around $40 and is waterproof to 40m. Looks pretty good I reckon. See here for more details.

Good on ya Drew, she looks like a nice chick. You can join the club with Mick and TB, both of them look like they’re fresh out of a dulling banjo’s scene :D

Bring back the Japs and see how fast Holden and Ford develop new cars to compete :D It’s like watching banger racing compared to the Euro DTM cars. Ford and Holden are as bogan as the people invading Mal and Medogrockets town.

Maybe they can make a Jap car category? You know, they’re only allowed 2 litres or something to keep it competitive? They could just copy the whole 2t/4t MX theme :D :D I reckon a stock Skyline R35 would take it to those V8 show ponies.

With that said and done, anyone want to go next year? No seriously, it’s a bucket list thing, number 24 on my bucket list is to laugh at the Ford bogan’s at Mount Panorama whilst getting paralytic and spewing on Medogrockets front lawn :D

I dislike Motorex because when you compare it’s properties to other top level oils that are cheaper it comes out worse off. It’s not a secret KTM are in bed with Motorex, it’s a good oil but it has been subjected to KTM pricing strategy and its just not worth the dollars they ask for it.

As mentioned above using a $10 or $20 cheaper 4L oil represents a puny saving over a years use that it negates buying something cheap. However, there are a few oils that are better AND cheaper than Motorex, so if you’re in this camp why wouldn’t you?

There’s so much hype about oils it isn’t funny, you’d be surprised at the oils a 75MW (around 100,000 horsepower) gas or steam turbine will use spinning at 4,000rpm. The thing weighss hundreds of tons and is several metres long. It isn’t super special high grade shizz and the lube is so important to their operation they have their own lube oil pump and valve trains.

Oils are a minefield, it’s one of the areas where cost does not necessarily mean its better. Look at Penrite HPR Gas10 developed for LPG vehicles, it’s one of the best oils you can buy in just about any area of comparison. Heaps of people in the know use it and it’s not even ‘rated for motorcycle use’.

Realistically, unless you’re using snake oil you’d be hard pressed to see a big difference for a while anyway. The difference between average oils and decent ones is only really evident after 10’s of thousands of KM’s anyway, long after we have gotten rid of them (unless your TB and you just cant let Honda go despite riding a Yamaha and a KTM :D)

Manufacturers obviously know their stuff, but does that mean everything they say/recommend is with the best performance intentions of your bike? If you bought a new bike and didn’t make any changes you’d be running 14/45 gearing for ADR compliance, shocking jetting on a 2 banger, not even the best fuelling on a FI 4 banger, crappy tires, springs suited to a 13 year anorexic Asian schoolgirl and an exhaust that restricts power, builds heat and reduces throttle response all in the name of reducing noise. Not to mention air box restrictors, throttle stops, standard duty tubes, 98 RON petrol etc etc, no thanks!
