Thanks Robo, I reckon I pulled it down just at the right time, was tempted to leave it as it only had 40 hrs on the entire engine, but that mongrel little rainforest S/T Craig and I tried cutting in last weekend I reckon did it, as it lost all lowend power for a while and never really came good again.

I’m felin’ better, sons almost over it, daughters just starting into the bad bit and the Mrs is a crook as, but she didn’t have many flus as a kid so this is an old one doing the rounds again so I reckon I had the anti-bodies lying dormant in me already.

Cylinders looking good now bit of a wash and clean up and she’ll be right to go.

Yep I double-checked the forum before I slipped the rubber glove into Menace and Boony, otherwise I would have stayed in “techhead” mode.

Wonder what other additives are with the castor oil?, btw I used the “environmental aspect of castor oil to shut down acouple of 2T haters on another forum this week. Friggin’ idjits “yeah we ride fourstrokes cause it’s good for the environment” Don’t give me that crap, if you want to leave a smaller footprint ride a kangaroo

You Blokes do know back in your Mums’ day castor oil was given by the teaspoon full to “loosen” things up in the exhaust area don’t you?

use too much Menace and you might loose traction in the “mud”, wear some rubber undies my friend, ask Boony he would have several pairs I’d say, hanging up with his catwoman suit and whips.

BTW the last bike i pulled down that had been running Silkolene Comp had a beaut film of oil all over the bottom end, something everyone likes to see when checking out the bottom end of their smoker.

If you want the smell of R30, with the benefits of todays technology, Silkolene top o’ the line 2T oil is the best stuff out there, I only changed after getting hold of some Mobil, doesn’t smell as good, but lubricates as well and burns cleaner.

You talking about the Pro 2 or the Comp2 Plus, Bruce?

I’ve used both Axel and they are both based on castor i believe…excellent oils.

I have a few stickers at my place I could send to you Bruce,if you get no pleasure from our shop keeper.

Thanks Mick, but what i want to finish of my “stylishness’ is a couple of full length tapered swingarm stickers where the factory ones used to reside, with this little addition I reckon the YZ will look folly Sik.

But not Horny…never horny, that is just too weird.

And you Mr Boon, would be one of only 2 to think like that, if that’s the lifestyle you live more power to you, but i think stickers promoting it may be going a little to far…:P

I’ll add my 2 bobs worth by saying Dave’s little Pro senior 50 absolutely rips and is still on the same set of rings and stator, which if you know pro seniors is saying something in itself. There could very well be something to be gained even if it is just longetivity.

Your not wrong on the Pro-senior stator issue, I used to run 250ml of DXIII + 25 ml of Two2cool in both of Brentons SX50s’ and his MA-50 cause of that reason alone.

They are hot running little buggers and because of the clutch set-up it makes it worse.

You are asad sad little Bullock Mr Menace, a bike can look “sick’ it can look “rad” it can even look “stylish” but under no circumstances should your bike ever look “horny” you need to get out more my friend..

Actually the real reason i reopened this thread was I am serious about wanting some Old bull swingarm stickers, How would i go about this?

T/B, Chris? anyone…?? (no not you Menace or you either Boony)

Someone does Fezza, it’s a Gas Gas Pampera, F injected DRZ type suspenders, easy going nature 450, and cheap as chips too.

Scott have had this issue on and off for 30 years, i refuse to buy them anymore after i forked out a motza for some early Turbo-goggles and the foam disintegrated within months and the scungy dealer refused to even look at them.

Oakley or thor all way for my goggles now, get an excellent run out of Oakley and they have excellent feild of vision, good nose protectors (and believe me i need it) and a huge range of lense’.

brucey baby, did you get the new updated set or the original ones.
the new ones look like they are only in black though?

they have nice looking pants too, cant see any orange ones though

and armour as well…..crazy:laugh:

Menace I got the updated in black & silver, but not being a fashion victim this is more my styke than colour coordination, they feel great they work great, they look ok to me as well.

I’m thinking about wearing some old blue kevlar pants I’ve had for 20 years in the cold, ugly as but very functional…..probably better than my hand-me-up pink and grey ones my daughter gave me, even less leery than my 10 yr old fox pants in CR red, with a burnt hole in one leg..

Bugger Austblue, that’s exactly what I was getting at about some dealerships out there are not worth the time of day, we had one like that up here (honda) but recently all the chickens came home to roost and they went broke.

Manufacturers recommendations are basically to keep the legaleagles at bay if something goes wrong most of the time, it’s like replacing the bottom end on your bike every 100 hours like some handbooks say ;) .

as far as feet slipping off, I did have that once on the weekend too, but it had more to do with the fact there was 2″ of clay on the footpeg from the ruts I was riding and 3′ on my boots, I felt 6′ tall etting off the bike….Oh that’s cause i was:blush:

i believe in my mechanicals being 100% right, and hate anything half-“dodgy”, this is mostly why I do my own work where i can as inverably I am let down by the standards others let themselves slip to, the dealership you took it to to be repaired should have picked the misalignment up instantly, or at least whence they started putting the helicoil insert in.

I don’t care if a vehicle looks tatty as long as the mechanicals are top-notch that’s what matters, pity more bike shop/repairers didn’t have the same pride. When you find one that does stick with them, they’re worth their own weight in KTM hardparts.

re points of data collection, Moto on a basic 2T single cylinder engine where do you estimate the critical measurements should be taken?, now i am only a layman in all of this with no formal background in thermo-dynamics so treat me as an indiot if that is warranted, but i would have thought if we followed the flame spread it would be a good indicator to begin with.
