Ok T/B now I have “feel” at the lever, probably 2x the stopping power at lower speeds, but still not enough for full on stoppies, can loft the rear about 6″ with full grip so now I’ll complement it with a CRF caliper when I find one, they slide straight onto the YZ hanger and my pads fit as well, again Ta T/B, is the best they’ve ever been so far.

Which ones did you get Patto, oh I mean Ekips…
The coloured kevlar style or the new “adventure” style, interested to see what differences there are if any, an older Adv rding mate of mine from work just ordered a pair after he saw mine and he was hell impressed with the comfort and protection..

I’ll let you know this arvo T/B, after i get the bike back together and do a backyard/drive test regime’.
I don’t care what bits are on it as long as they work well, the sum of the parts and all that, and interesting fact is that Honda pays money to Nissin for R&D so in return they get the “A” gear well before the others, good business sense that.

Saw Austblues post and was going to suggest a good W&B torque wrench, but as usual T/B beat me to it, look on ebay for second hand I’d rather a second hand W&B than a new anything else…. T/B have you ever seen anything else by them cause I haven’t yet the FIL has 3 of them and my best mate has 1/2 a dozen for his business, but nothing else of theirs?

cast soft Alumnium, I wouldn’t be game to put any heat on it, doesn’t matter, two part resin did the trick.

Sounds like a great time was had, I noticed there is a “woodwork” and other “activities” section at the bottom of the forums page for those so inclined, and while I am certainly no prude it would be more seemly for our suzuki “riders” to be chatting one another up “down there”
Sounds like a phat time was had by all……..

T/B is right don’t chase it, it may visit you. Sleep well, eat well before the ride, approach the day with no pressure upon yourself and you’ll have a better chance of it finding you.
I’ve quite a few Golden Sundays in my past, a few lucky breaks and voilia you can be a local hero for 25.6 seconds.
Once had a great ride on a twisty mountain road where i held an ex factory superbike rider at bay for 1/2 an hour, next time i rode with him I got smoked….but still there was that time, just the once and I earnt his respect to this day, before that he treated me as just another local wannabe idiot, then he rode with my much faster mate……….
factory bike tryouts for my mate ensued, pity about the drugs in his system….. bloody fool. But back to the zone, I become 100% focus, the corners are ridden before I am there, the tail of the next bike in front is just another obstacle and the bike becomes silent underneath you, just speed and forethought is all that matters, found it bigtime a few months ago with two of the faster brethren on a dirt road……by the time they had finally pulled to where I stopped, the adrenaline was gone, my engine was cool, but my wild-eyed faraway stare remained.
getting a bit long between drinks these days though…..

Reopening this thread as I’ve had the brake bleeding week from hades.
new Honda CRF M/Cylinder (thanks T/B ) installed (a known cure for YZ brake issues) line reversed to suit rear facing outlet, new lever, new carbon something orather ubeaut pads, and of a bleeding I went…..
Mmm this is working, lets unbolt the Caliper and clamp it to the rafters to bleed.. ok that’s better got some lever, let it sit so the air can get to the top and I’ll go do the dishes and put kids to bed…… 10 minutes later Crash bang, dog knocks bike off stand, fluid everywhere. No wuckers lets go again…not working this time what’s going on….at this stage it is 1.00am and I ran out of fluid.
Next day not getting any pressure to speak of, highly unamused, used another bottle.
Monday buys two syringes, and new bottle of fluid, tried reverse bleeding….Mmm half a spongy lever not good enough, lets go the other way and suck it through to the caliper… a bit better, so lets try again tomorrow evening. Gets home and realises on the first bleed I had adjusted the multi-adjustable lever to half throw… piston was only being pushed in 1/2 way… no bloody wonder.
wednesday evening, conventional bleed, fairly good, put zip tie on lever left over night = better, left another nght with zip tie= perfect.some weeks i tells ya.
My Yamaha RZ500 had it in 1985.
and some others from in my memory that have a carby hanging off the front as well, then there’s the rotary valve induct bikes that it is irrelelvant as to where the exhaust exits in relationship to the induction.

Hey Mr Rat, you’re just a big orange softie aren’t you?
Nah sometimes there’s a “bonding” if you get that Woohoo, nothing you won’t attempt, if there’s not sell up and move on, many bikes i cannot come to grips with, but a few you go “if I just moved the bars, put some new pegs on and stiffened that up it could work, my KTM300 was like that, but in the end it became apparent that alas we were never to be in sync. So I sold and moved on.
Still never have found a bike that I can float over the whoops, jump anything at any speed, or corner like my old RM, but maybe that had something to do with being 19 yr old (75 kgs and fit as at the time too  ) invincible, and most facilties still in order.
No brand loyalty here, if it works for me it’s good.

PS I hate PDS, but not KTM
Every now and then a special bike comes out and the people who own them become attached to them, The XR650 seems to be one of these bikes as every bloke I know that has one or has had one is highly fond of them.
damn a bloke I know in Brisbane damn near talked me into one last year….
And this is a feeling for a bike i understand, for me it was the 1984 RM125D off-road, and the RZ500R onroad.

That’s the thinking Ollie. exactly my thoughtsd these days, once you’re over the new bike euphoria and it’s scratched, it’s the same as the one that was 4k cheaper.
Had my fair share of newies, taken a hit on some dogs too, don’t get all that excited about the bike Par-se’ more the bikes ability.BC
