I loved getting home this arvo and finding my oldest (since we where kids) remaining mate who is closer to me than a brother, sitting there drinking coffee with his wife and youngest, so I gave the big lug a man hug and listened to what he’s been up to for the last year, bloody great.
talking bikes and speedway and families and generally catching up….gees he looks old now too:unsure:

If you want the smell of R30, with the benefits of todays technology, Silkolene top o’ the line 2T oil is the best stuff out there, I only changed after getting hold of some Mobil, doesn’t smell as good, but lubricates as well and burns cleaner.

They are sittin on the ‘puter desk beside me right now, ordered yesterday morning, just after T/B announced it, put money in bank yesterday arvo, they’re here this afternoon. Only other lightning delivery I’ve ever had like that was from “small parts” in Brisbano.

What is “CASTOR OIL”. Compared to other oils. Is R30 a castor oil. Pls explain.

Fester R30 is THE castor oil, there are many others but was THE ONE.
castor oils probably offer the best lubrication in a smoker, but break down quickly in premix there are many castor based oils and synthetic castor types but R30 is still the one that smells like race day to me.

Give you a hint T/B, Michael D is exactly one month older than me and we used to be in the same age class as teenagers, and he was just a grid filler then, then I went to the castrol 6 hour and watched him come into form on a RZ500 in tacky green colurs, couldn’t believe it was the same bloke. Then IO followed his career like you would when one of the blokes you used to ride against “makes it” all the way to the top. determination, talent and brains with an excellent mentor backing him was the key. After Gardner put him down, then he trounced Gardner and never bad-mouthed him. An all round champion in anyones book.

I also love camping with the family and riding with my mates.

I love the smell of Castor based oils running through a smoker first up sunday morning in the crisp air as we’re gearing up, reminds me of my childhood.
I love the sound of a smoker on the pipe going up through the gears.
I loved the look of joy on my 8 yr old sons’ face a few weekends ago when he smashed his first knarly (even by adult standards) greasy hill.
I love the feeling of showin’ some of the younger blokes the way for 20 minutes sometime when I find the “zone”, and I love the looks on their faces when the lids are removed and they flat out admit they couldn’t touch me, doesn’t happen much these days but when it does :) .
I also love the sound of a thumper being ridden hard.

I used to love watching Mick Doohan play with the best in world then waltz away easily, cause I knew him when……

I love catching up with old mates from “back in the day” at track days.

I usually like most things about bikes and the people who also enjoy them.

Interesting Bruce. I couldn’t get the WR to turn in, and now I need to be careful of ‘tuck’ !! I’ll be dreaming of high-siding all night :(

I’ve heard quite a bit about the PDS, though I haven’t really studied it. What’s it like over smallish jumps? In what situations is it most likely to bite?

at mid-pace just cruising along it used to get me, sorta at the end of the ride when you’re getting tired and not pre-loading the rear, although when I put the trials tyre on it did it everywhere except in snotty tight S/T. MX track was a nightmare, completely the wrong bike.

beaut Motors, build quality and ergos though.

I still don’t like the way this thread is heading or where it’s been, still like the ute tisco, mines exactly the Oppo, ’01 Rodeo 2wd on 4wd chassis, chrome everything outside, big chunky 75 series on wide U.S. eagle rims, raised a bit at the rear, chipped and exhausted, setup long distance driving. Me best mate has a ’52 Dodge ute (Looks like Mater) with everything ready to go, running gear out of the latest GT, hiace front end,Drop axles, absolutely everything down to the interior, he’s just gotta get the time to restore and bolt it up………..Like i said I love a custom anything.

I had an old system many moons ago, was one of the best things you can do for on the fly fogging or light rain, an attachment came with several brands of helmets in the early 80s (i think bell moto IIIs had the studs for them as well), you just use one hand to unclip one side and it’s not hanging off yer neck waiting to snag on the next branch.

like I said, been tetering on the edge of buying some again for a while, this just pushed me to
