TB
OHHHH I CANNOT HELP MYSELF HERE….
Oh I see someones found a big useless heavy ancient hard to move wooden object in the bush.
Oh look he’s jumping it over a log too.
Just for the record I actually love KTM adventures, but it’s a KTM so it’s fair game see….even though it’s far from true, wish it was a picture of a 4t PDS though
Good onya Hatto, you’re having a go that’s the main thing
Must be a lifetime of smoking thing Mick, but I haven’t squashed a chamber since I was a tacker, I dent them up on rocks and stuff, must be a thing you develop without thinking sorta like the true big bore riders not noticing weight it’s all in the technique.
Logs is one of the things where the 2T “SNAP” is a godsend, do it right and you sail over and look like a master, get it wrong and you just look like a scrub turkey flying out of the bush…
It’s a really useful skill that young bloke has there Mick, looks like committment ++ as he approaches, pity it looks so damn easy but is so damn daunting on logs that size.
Old bikes= old materials and that beaut green crap from fuel/alloys interacting poorly.
I wouldn’t heat a late model Carby too much for fear of warpage or destroying a plastic insert somewhere.
Blowing is good, if it can’t be blown it’s in need of a little chemical help.
Heya Dusty, not overly worried about the young riders, I’m more the “instant hero” adults, loud pipes, no consideration for the environment, no due dference to his neighbours or fellow bikeriders, and this trait usually comes with personality type “INSTANT EXPERT” they know everything about everything, will never help lobby, or help fix the trails, they see, buy, and destroy that which I see as sacred.
The kid you described will grow up to be you, me & TB, gotta start somewhere, as long as it’s not hordes of young hooligans tearing round the neighbourhood all is as life should be.
I see a young bloke pushing his older minibike up the road, I grin to myself and think keep at it mate.. one day you’ll be one of us respectables.
But as Michael has stated over & over it would be great if we were progressive instead of defensive and could get conveient local riding areas opened for the younger ones.
There’s football fields and cricket ovals everywhere for those minority groups
Correction Michael, there has always been some really fast women in Narribri, Inverell & Glenn… hang oh we’re talking about bikes aren’t we????

Hear hear.
Well said TB.
And that my friends is part of what we are trying to get the foundations laid for in this area with the new movement.
Rec Rego is not a cornerstone of our plans, but it may assist
The problem for me is as the man said
NOT ALL BIKERIDERS ARE DICKHEADS, BUT EVERY DICKHEAD HAS A BIKE
we have more than our share of them on bikes, the image is what they crave, so we get tarnished with their crap.
this is why somedays I feel like saying that, however then I meet a decent enthausiast who has just discovered the passion and i change my mind.
Nah came to a different conclusion on Rec Type Rego, however we must agree undue NOISE is the single issue that gets everyone upset.
Tb in my emotions I feel similar, in fact some days i want to say
” all newcomers piss off and stop causing all these issues” but who are we to say this, everyone has just as much right as you or I, but take emotion away and go with positive logic and I am were I am on the subject.I actually would trailer my bike three kays, I need tools and spare fuel.
Mick they don’t call you the Mayor of Wauchope for nothing.

Quote:I dont think rec rego will ever happen in NSW, I think you will find that Victoria would love to get rid of it, due to all the injury claims that are now flooding in with the explosion of the China bike population. MNSW would be better off, lobbying to have ADR compliant trail bikes, looked at in a different price structure to the Hyper sport road bikes etc when it comes to Green slips.
Bring a 450cc bike in at less than say $200 for full rego and I would say you might just sway the unregoed crew that haunt the bush.Top stuff mick, much same thing in nicer slightly different wrapping
That’s the hard part to estimate, now we both know our stances on Rec rego putting that aside, what percentage of full greenslip would they stand to lose against a new market that is yet untapped?
The Vicco data may shed some light, but it is diffeicult to estimate as so many other factors will influence, like the parameters of what bikes and what they need to gain the Rec Rego in the first place, the governements advertising, etc etc
TB you miss the point most of the claims moneys are from road rash riders, it would be very interesting to get hold of the data for claims upheld for bush riding alone, I believe it would be miniscule in comparison, ergo on a pro-rata the “greenslip” for rec rego would be along those lines , now remember there is another fund for uninsured MVA personal injury altogether which comes out of our medicare levy & general insurance levies (just for you Eags, Eagle, Eages, Beagle).
It’s easy for the insurance company TB, believe me I am on the working group of a large mutual fund and this sort of thing is not about the amount, data and analysis of trends is what the insurance industry is all about, and sometimes “colusion’ under the mantle of data acquisition but weather it will harm another section of the income stream, that’s the hard part to gauge, in toehr words they can do it, do they want to do it???The insurance will be easy to work out, the insurance industry & MAA will get some data for average distance travelled per annum for a rec rider, get it underwritten and it will be proportionate of say a full rego greenslip.
Might need a show of hands in letters of support along the way lads, have 2 months to get the data and public forums/working group together and would be nice to have a real display of unity, as the working group will not just consist of pro-bike it will be chaired by a councillor, convened by the council, and representatives from RTA, SFNSW, NPWS, Green groups, Local clubs, rec rider reps and maybe MA.
So at the end there will either be a bloody broken mess or a workable model the first of its kind in the state, maybe even the country so it is important we get the balance right……Firstly let me say.
Jack & kylie are not entirely blameless, maybe woulda been a good idea to keep the open exhausts down.
There are some very factual errors, the court transcripts of the prior agreements and mediations tell more of the story and how the agreements weren’t upheld by the victims whom became the aggressors.
Telling porkies to get sympathy never works, people fall for it initially then they discover the truth, remember it takes two to argue.
There is some very good news going to come out of Kyogle council later this year, next year and I need some backing, there will be a working group of affected and interested parties started and someone has put his job on the line to get this going, have 2 months to see some results. Hopefully at the end of it there will be some firm guidelines for
Private rec use
Crown lands rec use
Parking and amenities
light competition not needing to go before the full DA process
Heavy comp meetings getting a good look in.It will be designed to give parameters to EVERYONE and once settled will be adopted as council policy for the good of all.
But again sometimes the ratbags make it harder for all, and sometimes people act as ratbags in retaliation to ratbags when they shouldn’t
