I can access TRUtv (ghastly murders etc) but not NineMSN news, OBT but not Facebook, and softporn but not B&DW………….. go figure, and our emails are scanned for content & attachments as well, which I woulda loved to see the faces when they read a couple from my wife, after our separation.

It is a good resource run by one of the lads from over at DBW, possibly on here as well under an assumed moniker.

Dear Mr Menage’ a Trios, you are indeed correct about the venerable DT175 rear suspension setup, a workhorse of the agricultural brethren, whom do not, nay need not a sophisticated rising rate absorption system as they meander from cow to cow in 1st and 2nd gears with the trusty kelpie on the rack. Yes indeed the DT175 has remained unchanged for 2 decades and the suspension is even older than that, it was the height of design in the 1970s and as it was superceded by newer systems it was deemed to be fit for purpose in the slow agricultural reliability market it was marketed into and left to it’s own devices, in the meantime the world moved on with the more “race” and recreation oriented bikes with rising rate systems, full floaters and the like, even KTM had a beaut rising rate system in the 80s & 90s, truly one of the best, then I can only surmise that a Farmer must have joined the design team and Violia we have PDS and steering more suited to slow herding of the goat around the hills, than blastig through the bush or leaping logs and washouts.
Ahh those Austrians, funny lot they are, even the farmers have honarary degrees in “Humourous engineering for the masses” or maybe even an associate degree in “Engineering to accelerate the darwinian process”

Ahh the DT probably an apt bike to compere your average KTM to as well what an astute fellow you are Mr Menage, possibly if one blindfolded a ktm rider he would be hard pushed to tell the difference betwixt the two as well once having ridden them.
You are indeed a learned fellow My dear Mr Menage’, wise beyond your calling…..

Hey Mr Rat, hopefully will get around $2200 for her, also has “badass” graphics on her as well as all the gear a wealthy sponser (a Dad of course)could throw at it.

Thanks for that, would like to see her go to a good home where she is kept warm and cosy, Young fella named her “cheetah” cause it is so damn quick.

It’s a KTM riders thing, how else are they going to get anyone to agree with them over the handling characteristics of their trampolines

Dave– “This is handling real good now!”

Rest of group-deathly silence and embarassed glances

Invisible Squirrel in Daves Mind-“yeah Dave that things handles awesome, you da man brother”

Dave(looking relieved)– “Thanks furry little buddy see you do have taste and are quite skillful yourself”

Rest of group“Dave who the hell are you talking to?” (making circular motions with forefingers around right ears and rolling their collective eyes)

Thats right Mr Rat, he’s getting the hang of the “slow” clutch, action I got him in on that early, unfortunately it’s right after that he goes berko and decides he’s a speedway star, I am trying to makes his shift points smoother and stop the overrevvin and holding one gear thing he does. Talking with a very know;edgeable man round here he dislikes the Auto-clutch classes he seems to feel that the kids go backwards when they move up to the geared bikes, and I s’pose if I was ever to listen to anyone it would be this bloke, he sorta knows a bit about such things, but I am not sure on this theory, but I have seen Brentons riding go backwards since getting the KX, far less fluid and now all over the place.

I actually sgree with Moto to a degree, compared to many overseas developed vehicles in the same price bracket the Commodore and the Falcon are not as nice to drive or as good value for money, but they are robust and sorta Australian.

What type of grease do ya use as a matter of interest? I`ve been smearing some extra filter oil on the mating surface of mine, should go the grease though I suppose:blink:
    Cheers

I use a marine grade grease on mine..water doesnt cut past it too quickly like it can with non water proof jobs??

Just to be a bit pedantic Mr Husky, while i agree marine grade grease is sound thinking, isn’t normal bearing grease a non water soluble as well, and a water inhibitor?, just thinking out loud here, cause marine grade is usually just thicker isn’t it(viscosity etc etc)

I shall add a disclaimer to my previous statement
“it should be noted that while not all Americans are dickheads, 90% of extreme dickheadness worldwide has been recorded in the USA, yet they only account for 4.53% of overall population, now of this 90% recorded said Dikheds, we estimate 20% are Members Of thumperchat, but the remaining 70% are verified as active members of KTMWALK”

One has the choice here of saying something nice and cheerful to make you feel motivated or a cheep shot…………

I’m going for the cheep shot
You ride a KTM what the hell did you thik was going to happen, a well engineered suspension system was going to protect from all those nasty bumps and whoops out there??? well no me boyo you have one end of the shock connected to the frame and the other end directly to the swingarm, Eevn Noah outlawed this on the ark after the PDS on the main gangplank, snapped back up and launched the last 2 mamoths into orbit.
