PDS $80 to replace moving parts and 15min install time start to finish linkage hmmm $300+ 2hrs and a six pack later it still has movement because the bushes were a extra $130An “F” bush every 6 months makes up for the linkage bearing every few years for me,
but with a linkage you can also lower the bike with the exchange of one part for another Woohoo:cheer: .

all TIG, all the timeyes the collapsible needle affair, yes i had one of them which in effect made the bike slightly less prone to launching me over the bars on mid-sized sharp obstacles….slightly.
When you ride a KTM i know they are easy to sell.

Castrol DXIV for 2T gearboxes, on the 4T engine oil, if mobil make it I trust it, easy rule for me to follow.

and like all well ridden CR5s it has that “look at me I’ve been flipped at speed” look built in already.
Much better can’t believe you hadn’t already ditched the old setup, one of the trick new ones like the yamahas have look way sick too.
I like the guard very CR 500ish.

I have been assurred over the years by some very wise men that t’is better to use cheaper oil and change frequently than to use an expensive oil and change at recommended intervals or less frequently.
Sorta works for me.

it takes a pretty dedicated Bloke to kill a DRZ dead, so any word on the problem?

I agree with Tb 100 hrs of top line thrashing out of a top end is way impressive, lately I’ve been rethinking this whole air filtration aspect, years ago we had essentially sealed airboxes that where restrictive and hard to get at, but abd a big butt too, we hardly ever had any dusting issues. We used to open the airboxes up on the sides to allow better flow (ala RM125s with 2 ” holesaw holes in sidecovers at every meet)and still didn’t have too many problems.
Now many airboxes intake from right where the dust is thick and while this is great for flow and H/power does make life hard for the poor old filter. Maybe a snorkle system like some roadies have may be better, as I have lost count of how many rides I have been on where a 4T starts nor start on the starter as the valves start to recess, usually these blokes are riding mid-pack and the filter has allowed some fine fine grit through and Voilia instant top-end job.what I am trying to say is there must be a better system out there.

Not good at all, condolences to his friends & family

auto trannies have lots of heat generated through friction in the clutch plates and torque convertor as they drag a much larger and torquier setup along in all conditions now most auto trans don’t get their oil changed as often as they should without detriment so my reasoning is ATF is probably better than we need as far as heat dissapation and friction issues, the only other issue that could rear its head may be oil shearing between the gear teeth, but if changed regularly will not be an issue as autos do have this action as well.

Hey Steve I’ve used ATF type fluids in my smoker gearboxes for years, some of them love it, others get stiifer in shifting, but none have had failures on i. As it is cheap and pleantiful you can change the oil as often as you want and it comes ut clean.

Aha the missing linkage will be revealed
seriously the Husaberg is a good bike from all reports, but I would never buy a first generation design, personally the secod or third are a much better bet, but if everyone thought this way we’d all be riding hardtails with pushrods.
As for riding a smoker depends on the rider, recently while on a tar transport section a very very good rider on a 525 could not keep me in his sights through a set of twisties, which reinforced 10% bike, 90% rider.

smoking since 1969
It is incomprehensible for this to happen now.
Best wishes and RIP those who couldn’t escape the inferno.

I found the new WR450 to have a hit in the midrange and a bit doughier down low, the KTM450s I had sampled where very linear, but the icing on the 450 cakes that I have tried was the MX CRF450F (’08) a powerhuse from zero to redline, absolutely the most consistent delivery and responsive of the lot, obviously doesn’t crossover to the X model, they tell me the injected husky is a real diamond tho’
but they are all good anyway
