1-absolutely most useful alrounder for everthing= my makita 14.4V ultimate cordless drill/driver bought ’04 paid $550 two 3.0 amphere batteries (originals) last a while (although starting to show age and use now)
has been used for 2 house reno’s, building furniture, mechanical duties with sockets and screwbits attached, everything, my wrists love it, i love it out torques my mates dewalt 18V that cost him more and he uses them for a living.

2- makes life so much easier on hard tasks= my hare & forbes sliding panelsaw, rebuilding a house? buy one…not building at all.. buy one anyway, and smile, get rid of your poxy Mitre/drop saws and sawbenches all now redundant then put a router table on one side of it and viola a everything workshop for the budding cabinetmaker/chippie, allround handybloke.

3-emotional favourites= My strictly user hand planes that are still part of my working tools from the rocking horse pooh #60 & a half low angle lane from 1898, my so smooth to use stanley sweetheart #7, to the almost complete collection of Aussie Pope/Falcon wood planes from the 1940s and the nightmare routing plane that only a complete idiot would try and use on aussie timbers (Duh) more than once.

4-reliability and know them like the back of my hand=the sidchrome socket set I bought when i was 15, only one socket broken and all still in the original case.

O’neal pants= rubbish we have 4 sets at home all rubbish
    O’neal boots(mine)=rubbish
O’neal boots(sons)=did well before he grew out of them
    O’neal gloves(mine)=good
O’neal gloves(daughters)=crap tab pulled off first moto
O’neal jumpers(sons & daughters x 5) various issues, piling, stitching and shape loss but colours good
O’neal helmets (Mine, sons old ones, daughters x2) all good

the reason we had so much O’neal gear was that one of the local shop/dealer used to give us a cost price deal when the kids raced BMX and my kids where sorta on a B-team sponsership deal he had going all over the country and the O’neal importers helped him out with that

for our other current stuff, Fox gear mucho betterer, Thor good, “Alloy” MX gear top of the line quality,
and Oxtar boots are wearing great on the young bloke and he is a walking destructo machine.

    great things these
I have been using filter-skins for years originally “twin air” ones they used to be cheap but once they took off the price trebled overnight, so being a pool owner of course I started using filter sox, the larger ones are the go for Yamaha and KTM, the smaller ones were good for older CR’s, the density is identical in fact if one was cynical one could suggest that they all come from the same source, but one is not that cynical……….. yet.
I don’t change my filter for up to 5 good rides when i regularly change the skins, and my rings and bores last as well if not better than most, obviously on dusty days if I aren’t riding lead I change skins more frequently than on damp rides, and I also seat my skins ehind the aircleaner to the box, allowing mo exposed filter, haven’t noticed any performance drop or the likes so it’s all good.

Hey TB the old cr450s used to crack cases as well, so you reckon it’s genetic or phophetic?

Nah seriously what sort of NMs were you laying into it to crack the whole case and not just pull the thread?

and a pic of the fix would be good, cause I do stuff like that every so often too.

and lastly but not leastly, for Big red agricultural tractor, it is actually a nice big red tractor, if one was to take up semi Adv riding that would be the goods.

In general as stated a Motocrosser will have more “explosive” response everywhere, as well as more overrev, this is becauseyou need to have instant aceleration to clear the triples with only 7 metre runup etc, the price as Moto stated is reliability and maintenance schedules. I don’t worry about peak HP, I owned a fairly modified GSXR1100 that won several of the old regional AMCN horsepower shootouts through the 90’s, and was sub 10s across the quarter yet up to 200 klicks a well tuned exup 1000 used to nail me.
response is the krey for me, I have sacrificed my overrev on the Yz for an explosive bottom and lower mid-range for clearing logs, gullies, ruts and to assist in knarly hillclimbs. As a mate who owns a TM300 said, comes off the bottom into the pipe all woohoo, then nothing. Not perfect but better than all top end
BTW the 250 smokers are rated at over 40-45 hp as well, with less revs on board.
Having said all this there is only 2 x 450s that tempt me, and the kermit coloured one is one of them

used to be if it had a motor i was there (dragcars, street/circuit cars, modified roadbikes, & dirtbikes), now just the basics in that field… back to the dirt, back to where I started when i was 4….. am now 43, when the hell did that happen.
Unlike Tiny I do not have a passion for womens Fashion, unless it is worn by the woman in question, but I do enjoy spending time with my Kids & Dogs, used to be a border collies only bloke, but now w’ere down to the last great grandson of our original old dog & bitch so have a big old Golden retriever as well as a bloody insane little “Moodle”.
My son is motorcycle crazy and next year he’s going back into Div 2 racing after a layoff, we have a stovehot ’06 KTM missile all but final prepped and ready for the season of club racing & AMcross, was going to do the series myself but was informed the class I was going to compete in has been amalgamated into the young fast people category, so bugga that, I ain’t competeing against the A graders of today, they were faster at 7 than I was at 25. Anyway the daughter was a BMX racer for years and she is also apparently making a comeback next season as well, so I get to be a flaggie there again:S and trael around the state for kicks.

But for the Good lady & I apart from the bikes we just like to do a bit to our home (80 year old railway cottage ) as we get the opportunity and inclination to do so.

I also used to hunt vermin for fun Squirrel.
22-250 varminter rifle was perfect, but these days i’ll stick to my wit as a weapon
