I like the GasGas 300 it’s a nice easy going bike with really usable power, and the Nambotin well I damn near spent the kitchen reno money on one not long ago, the specs are works bike stuff…

I will attest to the ACD quality, I have had ACD bashplate, radiator guards and frame guards on mine for over a year now, some very big hits have been taken with no probs and removal for cleaning is pretty easy too.

At least you’ve still got that left, think yourself lucky, last time i tried a “double peacie” over a small jump I didn’t land so well… and these days doing a decent mono takes so much concentration that I’d probably end up taking my hand off the throttle and crashing… again…
BRP looks like she’s going well, and you’ve got the big wheels back on Connors’ too by the looks of it.
You’re just a bloody big kid yerself Michael, wtg bud, and the “peacie” is so so retro….love it that you’ve still got it inyou to muck around.
Kids woulda had a ball to I daresay…….
It rained up here which cancelled our similar plans, I got dirty looks all weekend from me little mate.
School hols next week….

He is a fellow dirtbike rider who suffered a similar indiginity a few years back and it is a great resource used by many including cops.
You have our sympathy.
Ona related but better outcome, cops up here bust a scumbag with a house full of stolen gear including 1/2 a dozen bikes, and he had large quantities of drugs as well, so chalk one up for the good Blokes.

Yep they’re a great track and paddock bike in stock trim, amazing response, but get in the bush and lose concentration and I’ll quote a young mate of mine with a Husky WR250 and what he said two weeks ago after a grueling erzberg style ride “That is not the bike you want to get whisky throttle on, it will slam you straight up a tree or over a cliff, in an instant”.
And he’s right.. it has.
So much to my own disgust (with my reaction times as I get old) I’ve had to slow the engine won slightly and bring the torque up at lower mid-range sorta area, but still retaining that “Vert mono off-idle” ability, and the suspension on mine (’03 YZ250wr ADRed, from ’01 all have exact same geo) is a bit shocking in stock form so it’s been played with, and will be some more. The best suspenders are the SSS KYB that are stock on ’06 and later, even the Show/Ohlins boys are envious of it, that’s my ultimate plan to find a good set cheap….
But get out on the flattrack with the boys and the big bikes can’t hold me it turns at high seed under power so effortlessly and just instill so much confidence you hit the zone and everything gets blurry with speed and you’re one with everything.
anyway great choice of bike for anyone, but lets us older blokes revel in a bit of adrenaline every now and then…

Rod don’t worry about being an old fart on the YZ, I’m 45 and i can’t see me parting with mine EVER, there may be other bikes in the shed, but here it will remain.
What do you reckon about the power delivery, i can’t get over the instant response wether you’re at 200rpm or 6000rpm, Yamaha certain designed this powerplant well IMO.
ever need any tips on the buggers just yell I have found a few things that work well with them….
Not sure if it’s the longest or what but, he was one of Gaston Rahiers contemporaries, and the little belgian is in my personal Top Ten riders of all time list.
19 is too young to go, the sport IS dangerous, but we forget how dangerous, having said that there’s is black and terrible irony after racing like a man possessed at the pinnacle of his sport years Norick Abe’ was cleaned up by a truck on his way to the shop, on a scooter of all things…

Fathers’ day is one of the good days isn’t it?
Glad you had a great Day Michael, seems like the kids also enjoyed the day, pony exing eh? that’s the best fun racing can be.
Bruce
You’re using Motul 800 aren’t you Mr Menace?
On ring end gap, it depends on the type of rider you are, the air filtration, oil type, ring material quality all these things combine to give wear rates.
I am a bit surprised that the powervalve was that gunked up in 100 hours, the flapper on KTMs and sub-ports usually defy this for a few top-end changes, another hint for cleaning them is believe it or not CRC556 or WD-40, I reckon the hydro-carbons are the trick…
But all in all a job well done and done in good timeliness, now you can ride and ride and wear it out again…..
i’d be happy to own either, both very capapble bikes so I’m led to believe.
