Now we’re onto real “watercooling”
No LC 1800hp isn’t much for that type of setup,(keith black Block?) but as TB said 12 hours in a season would fairly well pull up most dedicated teams.
Ok this heat exchanger you’re speaking of TB, what do you know of water over oil cooling systems?

I may like to discuss a couple of things here, now where does the notion a coller engine is more efficent all things being equal?
I remember somewhere, somehow a learned person explaining to me about heat retention and how if harnessed correctly in the combustion process was the makings of more power.
And if cooler is better why does the coolant pass through the hottest part of the powerplant last, surely it would be better if it went there first and equalised the heat (disappated even) the heat to the other cooler areas on the way, then to the radiators and round around.

Quote:Like what Bruce, Motocool or are you talking about valve wear, cam chain tensioners, cams, followers and shims? These and more, like energy loss through heat dissapation, corelation of oils in the heat exchange process, additives so forth.
I agree TB most good aftermarket gear is built to do a specific function and usually to a higher design standard than the OEM, you just have to look at OEM tyres to see this.

Now do you reckon this thread could evolve into some really in depth discussion on problem areas.. if we prod it and poke it enough?

You know 20 years ago i may have argued the point with you Menace, but one night around 18 yrs ago I was sickened by a group of “shooters” behaviour towards our fellow critters that ended with my fellow fox tracker/pelter (the two of us had come across these mongrels by chance) leaving the scene and me having 7 guns pointed in my direction by these dickheads. Keeping my wits and not responding the way they anticipated stopped it from being any worse, but the very next day I advertised all my guns and handed in my licence, and I told the local Sargeant why.
Never again, and very few people need to.

Ollie
Yep, first stop was to check them Ollie as i had carefully set the carburettor up on the bench with loat level etc.
Plus I believe they are the solid floats, and while they can still fail it is much rarer.Am tempted to see if a 24mm flatslide would fit in there, would improve throttle response in theory.

it worked. we high tailed it.
we must have been scaring their prey.
crazy wankers
Police matter that one Menace, they’re the ones that give everyone else a bad name, plus shooting a firearm in the general direction of anyone is plain old stupidity at it’s worst.
Attempted murder if you ask me.BC
Good call Dick and Menace, a good chance of what it could be as the tank breather was refitted by the young bloke and while he usually does a good job he is only 9.
Moto yep, that’s what the screwdriver trick is, a tap with a screwdriver handle….
BTW the porting and pipe mods have made it a heap smoother running too, highly recommend them so far, will give a report when it’s run in and he’s riding it properly
I will check that vent hose tonight, thanks again gentlemen, mucho gracias…
Bruce
First thanks Gents
Dick, yes very warm afternoon, but not boiling.
TB occassionally, but not regularly (make sense?)

True LC, accidents do happen, but my problem with rifles is tat most, even good hunters can get wound up in the heat of the chase and forget the “horizon rule” never shoot over the horizon cause a large heavy projectile can travel and have enough energy left in it to kill at several kilometres distance, or if poor choice of chambering/projectile can travel through your prey and onward, saw an experienced idiot kill a large Buck roo one night and a beautiful young Charolias bull 100 yards behind it with a 30-06.

Highly unlikely, But bow hunting is undergoing a huge resurgence, this is exactly if true what all have been fearing round this way ever since a drongo with a high powered rifle killed a family dog that was playing with two children near where we take our kids riding.
This is why I gave up hunting, too many Drongos with Guns out there, even now it’s the dedicated Drongos who perservered and retained their legal ability to continue being Drongos with guns.
this is not to say all people with legal firearms licences are Drongos.Hope ole mate makes a good recovery and they get the Halfwit who shot him.
