Firstly, G’day Charley,
secondly, Mick I’m hell impressed TWO Mates, you’re one up on me now.just wondering out loud Charley, that Comstar rim, will it take it? as we used to rip the rivets out of them in the drags on a CB750FII, and regularly wrecked them on the road too.

I have my own theories on the escalating motorcycle accident rate, and you’ve probably heard them by now, but after the incident with our tractor last fri, two more bad roadie accidents on the weekend around here, including one that ripped the head and barrel of a Beemer twin.
It’s getting a tad rediculous really, and people are dyng and being maimed.

I used to get it from a truck parts joint (where I get my Mobil oils too) now they put me onto another prduct “mirror finish” metal polish, it’s even better and you use SFA to get it done, BTW I’m a polished alloy sorta bloke too…..

Today another one.
Myself and one of our works supervisors were called out to an motorcycle accident involving one of our tractor spraying crews, on the way to the scene my workmate (who is the national registrar for Ulysses) told me that itās getting more frequent to see the āborn again bikersā come to grief, he said they fall behind in the twisty bits then take chances trying to catch the group again. He also told me they tend to buy very flashy bikes which donāt handle the cornering duties too well, in fact had one that was on a group ride recently was killed overtaking on a corner.
As we drove to the scene we passed maybe 30 cruisers on this backroad, all flashy and new looking, mostly two-up.
We got to the scene and three police cars and an ambulance in attendance, supervisor stated gees, theyāre quick as we got it over the radio before the ambos were called, turned out the ambo was on a trip to Brisbane and came across the scene basically before the bike stopped sliding down the tar.
Pillion was lying in neckbrace and prone, had been knocked out, wearing a open faced mirror finish helmet, rider lying on ground with torn jeans talking with police, my bloke looking like a ghost and his crew undertaking traffic control. Turns out he was finishing for the day and was turning down a side road, checked rear vision and saw the bike was a fair way behind so indicated and started to turn, next thing he knows a bike has hit the rear of his front right wheel and everything went cartwheeling down the tarmac, another car coming the other way saw it all.Facts of the accident
A lodged workzone with correct signage
Speed limited to 40 kph
Traffic controllers at either end in full visual and radio communication
Double white lines for the entire workzone
Brand new Triumph 1600, with lotsa aftermarket bling and full custom wheels
Rider and his good lady in brand spankers gear open faces and polished bootsApparently the bloke came roaring past the traffic controller, went to pass the tractor and collected it, the car coming the other way was doing 40kph and was still concerned the bike was going to hit them.
Contributing factor, apparently our operator didnāt check the indicators in the morning and the rear right was blown, so he copped a fine for that.
The motorcyclist told us he had fallen behind the group, interestingly enough it was a good 45 minutes befores his āmatesā discovered he was missing despite being 6 minutes from town where they were having coffees at the cafĆ©ā.
Iāll leave the conclusions to your good selves

Holy Moly, DRs just don’t have that happen, never not once I’ve ever heard of, although I have heard of one that wore out a topend after Oh 100,000 klicks or so.
Suzuki being suzuki he may find that another model shares the cases and major components.BC
Excellent news Mal, TB i do agree, but was going back to basics where before anything else check float level, yep ye’re right they don’t often go out of adjustment and have a teflon tip on most of the needles these days.
Also failed to remember this was a near new steed too, as for a float to be 1mm out of whack at the check point requires less than .1mm wear at the seat area, we are s’posed to replace the needle if any visible signs of wear are evident, but hardly anyone does as the pricing is prohibitive unles flooding is occuring, also you can actually lean or richen your mixture by cheating with the float levels too….Mal if it happens again on the trail just remove the 17mm inspection plug at the base of the bowl and turn your fuel tap on for a few seconds and it should flush any crap out, be careful about residual fuel and fires though…..

Damn fine idea Boony, Good P.R. can never be overated, and congrats to you personally for having the common sense to buy a steed that is perfect for the blokes in your shoes. While we give them (Banannas) a bit of light hearted grief, I would rather a bloke found his feet on something like yours’ than a WR/CRF/KLX/450 or the likes, I undertsand how the call to buy “the biggest and best” is but head over heart and a modicum of self restraint goes a long way.
Do off-road Motorcycliss actually have a lobby group in NSW? because I’m damn sure the Roadies do.

Better question would be “has anyone never seen one?”
or has anyone escaped google?
