I used to have the best deterrent, Reggie my old 45 kilo food trained, alpha male border collie who took no prisoners, or food unless one particular word was said to him, dragged a bloke backwards out of our old neighbours kitchen window once and saved my missus from being attacked on the way home from work one night, just 2 instances of many. Unfortunately he died in ’08 at 15……. but I did get his great grandson and Reg’s former offsider is till here(big big angry suspicious natured golden bitch) and he taught them well before he shuffled off, nothing but nothing gets in our yard unless we are aware of them, the council ordered us to build a fence halfway up the yard as they said people have a right to access your front door in business hours, fair enough.
But the urban myths about being sued by a would be thief is wrong, if the dog is contained in it’s domain and someone is trespassing, game over just been involved in a case such as this last october at work, however you must allow that egress during business hours. Also have a few other deterrents and while given time and tools anything can be gotten at, mine would be fairly difficult, not impossible, just not worth the hassle, too much hard work, and as we all suspect these mongrels hate that phrase.

Caveat, about three years ago the 300 fouled a plug on a really humd warm winters day after 40 mintues in goat trail s/T, never did it again as the weather was the anomaly, even the wr450s and CRF450s I was riding with were running rough that day.the TM has crankcase induction like some of the bikes of yore in my experience they are a bit more touchy on selection of idle jet/needle combo due to the increase vacuum signal.

Yes what he says is the go
Get it sorted and you wont have the issue again
Right again Mr Blue
cant wait to sit and chew the fat with you my friend…..one day…..one day
Hey Bruce are you doing the 5 way series round when it comes to your local track this year, I will be there and would love to catch up with yaRat
Am planning to do a few local meetings this season Mr Rat, certainly after this heat has settled. 1st priority is getting the young fellas’ licence sorted, actually the STB (Border boys) were planning to do some SE QLD and NE NSW meetings as a team, so even if I’m not competing I’ll be there, just give me a yell a week in front, gunna pick yer brains on conventional forks in junior racing…….
AB aren’t you glad you got a smoker, happy days are here for you now, just ride and occassionally spin a spanner and apply some locite and Bobs yer uncles best mate

A good mate has one of these, we have modded it with a’92 xr250 rear end linkages and shock, disc brake and all, is this bad?
Powerful but slow as a queenslander on xxxx
Geoff Eldridge had one mounted in his lounge room when he died with less than a 100 klicks on it, his brother porky inherited it I believe.

Easty fixed Moto, become a permanent resident or apply for true Aussieness, and be awesome in the knowledge you are an Antipodian, who produce more world champions per head than anywhere else.
And I’m definitely sure you shouldn’t be the first Englishman MA or anyone else has dealt with, it’s just a matter of finding the right person to speak to, a decision maker rather than a fly catcher.

good to hear Strucky, hope it’s all good news when they take a good gander at it.
For everyone else arguing over whose got the biggest brain and whose opinion is rightest, I reckon it’s an individual choice riding alone, like type of bike, no right no wrong, just freedom of choice.
Godamn grumpy old men everywhere I look……….including the mirror
Set of 1-9 reg sized numbers from local whoever costs us around $10, background sheet of h/d contact in the correct colour from same place couple more $$, all done.
Used to do it every season for the kids, before that for me, only the “elite” get custom backgrounds with printed numbers and “extras”.
that’s my approach anyway
I’ve ridden heaps of times alone, but as you stated AB, measures in place to minmise the chances of encumbering myself or others with my lack of judgement, I never ride out to the spot alone, always from a camp with others, or on property and not far from the yard.
With the amount of riding mates i had as a kid, if it wasn’t for my brothers, all my off track riding woulda been alone.

Trees/posts are much handier for me, or just carve a trench with the rear wheel (club marshalls always hated that too…. )

Generally in the past AB, if it has a silencer with an approval sticker/stamp on it the Scrutineers will give it the thumbs up, I have been to other forms of motorsport where the EPA made them test the noise from the side of the track and any vehicle that went over the limits was black-flagged.
A quick test is to check the standard out online for decimal readings and use a nokia phone with the built in meter or a cheap decimal meter, I very much doubt a stock 300 system while certainly obtrusive in note will go over 86-88 DB.
I think Dave (KTMRAT) is an authorised MA scrutineering official, he’d know the rules backwards and any commons Sups you need to be aware of.

At work here we make a few of our weekend solitary workers carry PLBs, (personal locator beacons) while worth between $400-$700, this includes the registrationetc and if you activate it, the Australian search and rescue mob are immediately mobilised (after a quick phone call to a nominated rep of yours to ensure it is for real) and the beacon will enable them to narrow your position down to, yep where you are laying on the ground exactly.
Just food for thought.

What Hatto said x2
Merry christmas to all Old Bulls and their families and friends.
Stay well and safe Compadre’s and remember, 500 grams of pork crackling = 2 kilos next day.
5 stubbies in an hour does not make you king of the world, and no you cannot ride the kids MXer while “happy”, although it will make for good memories for the kids.
