Really wanna kick some sand into faces, in canberra many years ago I spotted a ’92 CR250 witha big bore RZ350 twin 2T powerplant, now considering a set of flatslides and pipe will give you 70 (yes read it) ponies out of a near stock RZ350, I’m a thinking this could be the ticket for you XY, as obviously piffling things like handling and turn-in are not of a concern to real men who lust after big-bores or powa as such.
And the harley that’s just Dumb Moto, your 300 would whip it’s butt, plus all that leaking oil won’t mix with the dust too well.

And i am sure it will be worthy of his intellect too TB…
So Boony and Eagle what sorta trade-ins did they offer you on this wonderous piece of technobike?
BC
Actually I wish they’d made them a few years back, my young fella woulda loved one, coulda told everyone there was 4 KTMs in the shed too…..
He comments to defend himself I’d say TB, otherwise he becomes irrelevant to the topic, which would be demoralising even for a DRZ rider who is used to such emotions…. 😆
Am surprised however this thread hasn’t become another “all about a certain KTM rider” thread…..Maybe he is worried about the Dummies…..

oh Danny boy,
KTMs R&D dept are so bloody shit bored after having found and fine tuned the perfection that is the KTM motorcycle, that they have time to design these toys to take home for the kids at xmas…..
show me one kid that wouldnt want one
they even make toys for yamaha riders that have hissy fits
Actually Mr Menace, I think the spitting market those are aimed at is self explanatory, IE: they are orange and have the brand on them, yamaha ones would be much less gaudy and come with a decent dampening system so it didn’t bounce back whenit hit the ground.

Boonster and Eagle
Bowled and caught by TB.Nice one TB, but you are obviously totally unaware of my concurrent obsession with all things rotary and orbital, esp viariable displacement orbitals, now a variable displacement 2T rotary…MMmmm
.
In fact I believe that may indeed be the one and only perfect KTM overall, and best value for dollar orange bike in the range.

Service periods?
Warrantee?
Intended use, competition MX, FMX, PE, enduro-cross?
Is it ADRed?Also looks like some sort of composite frame material too, has it still got the weak headstem and funny steering, although as you said it has a vast improvement on PDS in the rear…..
No offence Blokes but i think the same when someone calls a DRZ an “enduro” bike, to me it is a trailbike, a damn fine one at that but certainly no way a stressed, race-ready enduro mount.
At least Husky do admit to a ethical responsibility to their product.
BC
There is nothing radical in either the BMW or husky engine designs that would suggest replacement at those low hours so i interpret those “service periods” as get out of gaol free tickets for the warrantee. Now I know with roadbikes and tintops the servicing to ensure warrantee issue was cleared up years ago by the courts, and basically as long as it is done by a licenced mechanic in a licenced premises it matters not weather it is adealer for that brand or not.
I would also go as far as to suggest Husqvarna and BMW are bound by that same precedent.
The WR 2Ts are a bit hit and miss in the QA dept, good ones go forever and are awesome bikes to ride and instill a good rep, but the lemons die in minutes, and that’s why I think it’s a QA issue.

You got Lucky with the weather Robo, just a few klicks back down the road it was 40+ all day in the sun.
What do you call the track with the massive mud gully washout about 6′ x 6′ that you can’t go around, ask Grant how you can get stuck in it….
What’s to go over the Xmas break, you blokes doing a few rides?
I was thinking maybe Napalm death resort II, with better knowledge of the extensive S/T out there now we can use Grant or Greg as tour guides (that way they can be lynched instead of me…
), it is possible to do an almost from beach to Whiporee ride from what I can gather

Hey Mick used to do Long flat myself amongst others, you’re right about the cremonial burning of Jappas, used to be a tradition at many rallies, until I think some of the jappas started becoming classics themselves.
The olde timey 1%ers like the viet vets and so forth had a good code of honour, it was primarily about the ride and the road. Now I find some of the younger ones aren’t really into bikes or any particular code, it’s just cashing in on a fearsome Rep to peddle their brand of intimidation.
Have ridden with a few that my uncles and ex brother in law were part of, most of the blokes can take a bit of ribbing about leaking noisy harleys and old brit bikes, just mostly live a different life by choice.
Once had a full on no-holds barred dirty riding race with several of the Jokers ( on speed triples and late model Trumphets), next fuel stop they pulled in behind us to have a gander at the three big jappas that annilated their fastest bikes and riders, I think I got a triumph stuck in my ram-air tube that day too…. :ohmy:all respect all the way for and from them.
