It’s weird that isn’t it Moto, people will stand and stare at you washing a vehicle, even offer tips, yet it’s not rocket engineering or anything, same blokes like to stand around BBQs in the same fashion just mermerised by the sight of meat cooking.
    Must be a cave thing.

I saw that last night Moto, and i agree it is a fair step forward, and to trial it in a trials configuration is good thinking, sort the powerplant out first and then the dynamics of another Chassis type afterwards.

My bigger dogs are fully food trained, meaning they only eat in a certain situation with certain commands, unfortunately my old collie died last year at 15, he was an absolute deterrent, thigh high 40 kilos no fat a body and a head like a german shepherd with total alpha personality only took orders from me the wife or my best mate, no-one else could touch him if we weren’t home and he had proven himself on half a dozen occassions including dragging a bloke legs first out of my old next door neighbours kitchen window, then giving him a good mauling for measure before the bloke got away, he got a leg of lamb every Xmas from them after that, he also taught his Great Grandson (my current Alpha -male) and the retriever bitch his ways of property protection.

Two fences, two padlocks, 6′ steel fencing on either side, greyhounds loose in rear neighbours and one side, locked shed within locked shed, remote sensor alarm in shed, cutting tools locked in cabinet or seperate shed, bikes have snig chains and kryptonite cable through wall studs good locks and embedded H/T ring in floor. Cul-de-sac and excellent neighbours, in fact my son (hes 8) rang the cops a few months back when him and his mate saw a teenager breaking into the old ducks house up the road, cops got the mongrel too…. :cheer: , reinforced the youngs lads sense of duty as a bonus
    Then there’s the feral occupants

Why would they risk it surely there’s an easier way for a scumbag to thieve than to risk my place.

Personally while i thought about Scotty’s #1 and it’s close, for me it’s this is the definitive motorcycle, built by a motorcyclist for riders.

    Yes Mr Blue,
I dont entirely agree with the list either,in my point of view the bike has to have been actually available to the average punter to get a gong.

I might add that the documentary appeared to be made in England from the bits that I saw.Read what you want into that.

As for Harley Davidson,if they had of named a Harley as no1 I would have thrown something at the tele.

I fhtye’d named a HD as #1, you wouldn’t have posted Mick, you’re a far smarter man than that… or if you had posted it woulda been in the Jokes section…

OK i lost respect for that list as soon as you put the top ten down, it is obviously a personal biased list from someone, as the HD gets a guernsey yet no mention whatsoever of any eastern block or german brands, a token Brit and sorry but the V8 Guzzi what a joke, and the Y2K yes nifty but hardly in the top ten that are actually made for real people to own.

Sorry I’m going to disagree, a farce of a list perpetuated by a self delusional author (not you Mick, although you may be, but not that I’m aware of…. :P )

If we include the cub what about the venerable MZs and eastern block Dnieper, Jawas etc.

If we include innovation there are many more better than the y2k and achieveable to actually own

If we include styling why was the 916 singled out, KAWASAKI was first with that spaceship from hell look before Ducati

If we include for spped and power what about the Kawasaki Z1000/R- Ninja series, the early brits, The later BMWs, Suzukis Katana/GSXR evolution, Hondas CB dynasty etc

If we include race replicas what about the 4 cyl smokers from the eighties and the Kawasaki H series.

BTW even back in the day the CB750/4 had a rep for having a hinge in the middle of the frame, that’s why there where many aftermarket frames made for them, so saying it was good habndling musta been from a boulevarde riders POV.

Good thread Mick, I love these sorta discussions.

#1- will be the original motorcycle, it started it all off- built by Daimler.

    Bruce- the rebellious

I agree with the CB750/4 being in the top 3, but totally disagree with the 916, it was styling excercise with good handling-true, but hardly outstanding it had far less mumbo than the others and is only desirable due to it’s desirability, I’ve ridden most of the Dukes and they are charasmatic, the 888 and 900ss mostly so for me. But the britten V2 was a far superior bike that whooped everything ass at daytona, and the honda 90 while popular doesn’t make it the best, like politicians really.
While i disagree with the Ct90/Cubs inclusion and the Duck 916, that doesn’t mean I know what I’d put in there instead, probably the DT-1 or first triumph scramblers, maybe the Laverda triple or four or six or…………………

Nah Moto just do what the boys I ride with do, find an old bloke who goes quick sporadically, has been around but can’t keep it together for long, makes you look SO SO good when you go past him…..

or find some under 8 yr olds that haven’t been to an MA session yet.
