What’s this 100kph nancy-boy stuff, rgv250, rz350 50-75 hp pocket rocketships to 200 and yes a side wind did worry them, but probably not much more than the GSXR11.

My YZ is 105 wringing wet kerbside with blinkers and headlight, I did notice the difference to Menaces 300 back to back, which felt heavier, and carried it’s weight differently.

Are the CR ones too “easy” TB?, cause suzuki had one on early GSXRs that everyone else hated but i liked, as it didn’t affect steering too much, but still took the sudden quick little hits out. And could a steering dampner on a dirtbike help stop my stupid habit of getting thrown from front deflection in ruts?

How heavy is a DRZ any way, always lots of talk on it but whats the wet weight?

sales brocure says 119 kgs dry(i think) and they have 10 litre tanks?

just checked the web site and it says 138kgs kerb weight? what does kerb weight mean????

Boony “kerb” weight means riding weight on the road with all gear and fluids….

Or it could mean if you drop it, it is easier to lift the kerb up than the bike..

I had a roadie that weighed less than that, so i can see why you need it to shed a few kilos’

    .

By “wrist pin and bearing” do you mean the pin that holds the piston on the conrod and the sleave in the conrod?

    Yep they’s the ones,
You don’t need a vice, in fact don’t put your rings in a vice, just hand held and nail file will do, no biggy.

I once saved 20 kilos off a gsxr by replacing the twin walled, twin mufflered, catchcan exhaust with a 4 kilo handbuilt one, $900 for 6 hp , more torque and 20 kilos was a bargain, but now they come ex-factory like it.

It’s right about heat and expansion as has been mentioned, can break the rings as well if not checked. Patto the bolting down that’s for any cylinder distortion that may show itself when bolted to the cases, and seeing as they don’t machine the barrel on the cases, I have never worried or seen anyone else worry about it.
A ring can be carefully filed with a fine diamond nail file, carefully holding the ring in your fingers as close to the end as you can, and a little filing goes a long way.

I understand the “silk purse from a sows’ ear” emotion Boony, there was a DR400 from the old thumpernats on ebay a while back was ridden by some big name and only fetched a few bucks, woulda been good for parts.
What I’m getting at is there has been heaps of DRZs’ “bombed” and maybe there are some parts out there waiting to be bought …Cheap.

Good luck with it, I’m a bit like TB though is much easier to change a light bikes power characteristics than to make a heavy bike light.
