Yes Rocker arms traditionally wear, how many Ks on your bike so far Mr Beemer?
probably normal, but usually the valves recess growth takes it up.BC
Hey Beemer I have seen this before (i dare say quite a few of us old Bustards have) usually means you have wear or hard facing has come adrift on a component of your valve gear. In old CB750/4s it maeant high rpm oil starvation, amd the same as the big yamaha singles.
To coin a phrase, yes I would be investigating, at least checking with some BMW people to see if it is normal.

I know what you mean Moto, your old currency got me last week, and this week it’s better, a few bux here and there, but still i underestimated it’s potential movement…still happy with the deal though.
Only bits ‘n pieces but about 1/3 of the domestic prices.BC
Anyone know anything about importing bikes from japan? while it’s slow i was thinking about buying a few bikes for the “kids”, maybe a nice RMZ450, a CR125, and maybe one of those Banshee things…

The vincent HRD black shadow was almost the pinnacle of bikes in it’s day and for many years after, but for me I’ll have the “white shadow” (sometimes called the red shadow) or the “black lightning” which broke and held the land speed record for years at 184 Mph.
Funnily enough around the same as a modern Hayabusa…..

I’m not sure that any bike manufacturer (outside of trials) had in mind what many of us do for kicks with our dependable steeds, I think they imagine the average (as Moto said) amatuer is busy racing around firetrails in 4th/5th gears with the occassional short hard track, not 60 klms of kangaroo trails through the udergrowth.
And as Tb stated movemnt to get some heat transfer going, ergo fan is good idea.I’ll have one too Mick while you’re at it, if I squint really really hard and put red glasses on mine looks abit like a BRP too…

I’d go with Moto on the average assumption, however we do quite abit of that sorta thing (Tight first gear clutch work S/T) and basically as TB pointed out “outside of design parameters”

So why the lycra suits?
to my way of thinking if there was ever a sport that had absolutely no need for aerodynamic enhancements it’s trials, are they just exhibitionists and like to get the lycra out in public?BC
Gotta love trials, so intense, so vertical, so daunting, so much skill on display.
Any Lycra body suits? up here there’s a bloke 60 in the shade who wears a lycra body suit when competing, I think it’s a ploy to get the observers to look away.
