Just hate to see guys planning a ride to have it stuffed up on the day !TB or Al would have chimed in on it anyway ,,,
Sadly we are losing or already lost too many good routes mateCheers
Back to the drawing board
Wasnt sure what tracks you meant eags, lot easier to make sense of it with a PC in front of you. Damn those greenies.
Yup I think your right, past devils elbow, hanging rock and south of Mt Coricudgy to Olinda.
That bites Eags, thanks for the heads up.
Thats almost the hill end ride we were going to do :cheer: so its all good. Blackhands instead of bridle sound like a good swap to me. Depending on fuel you could even cut out the tar section from capetree.
Its about 420 ks.
Have you been out through three ways across the guts plindz? Kat sold me on that route on the St Albans over nighter a couple of weeks ago and it looks like it links up. If not it would probably make a good overnighter for another weekend, if your tent doesnt end up in the skip at woodstock you could even join in

Hey TB, spoke with wookie today and he wont be back from the Territory in time. He is out.
On the bright side though its less dust to worry about 👿

I still remember with pride the dodgy rebuild on the 302 windsor in my ZB fairlane. Had no money but no stress either. Back then a bad day was the vacuum cleaner starting up before I was ready to get out of bed  :silly:
Have to admit that nates stereo sounds just a little bit fully sick.
plindz wrote:After the “Grand Poobah” said “see who’s sitting on the sideline” i thought I’d throw this in for a starter for the Newie contingent about getting to Lithgow for the start of the nav ride. Me, Febs, squiggle & OFBM are starters and working on a ride to get there. My thoughts – start 8 bells from Edgie Maccas – 1st beer Lithgow 16 bells – see below, about 480k’s in total – 50% dirt – 50% tar
Any longer than 4pm could result in this
Squiggle & OFBM – hopefully the files work for you
Cant get GPX files to upload – HELP!!!
Linz

Called skyrider today, he is keen and pretty easy about how he gets there, Wookie is out and just waiting to hear back from Brownie. Since the bridle is out I am easy. Just add the GPX to a zip file and maybe it will upload a bit easier.
Had a look at the map today and looked at maybe heading out through howes valley as per OFMB and Kalgoola then into capetree from Glen Davies. From here you could do the morning run from the lithgow nav ride in reverse, heading up the hill from blackfellas hand. Probably about 250 ks from howes valley.

Ive not been through here but just putting it out there in case you blokes have. You could tar it from broke and enjoy the frantic bends of the putty for a bit of early morning racing
before hitting the dirt.
Or we can just follow you blokes, its not just a rumour, Im easy
the rookie wrote:Its funny I’m still at that age, but the bike has taken over the eBay spending.Dont worry rookie, I get at least one speech a week as to why dad should chip in for a new Kato 300. Amazing how many reasons there are for buying a new bike when you really put your mind to it.
plindz wrote:Hope it’s not C O D – who knows what it will look like by the time it gets to WAnope, all paid for and Im sure the the new owner will be quite chuffed. Now if only can convince Mrs Squiggle that a Super Duke 1290 makes good financial sense
Well, its gone to a new home in sunny western Australia for the bargain basement price of $13500.00, took a bit of a hit on that one.
Ordered a shiny new barrett pipe for the triumph today, fingers crossed for the weekend
plindz wrote:Hi Al
Any idea how many going from Newie ?? – rather than tie up the forum with local stuff I will pm you and squiggle with some ideas to get to Lithgow. Which bike are you taking??I cant believe I bought a tent on the weekend :pinch: – $29 at Aussie Disposals. Just gotta get it to Woodstock, I don’t care if it doesn’t make it back.
Catch up soon
Linz
Ill try and catch up with the GS boys tomorrow and see whats going on in BMW land. My PM’s are wierd, says I have one unread but nothing going on. If I dont reply just give me a call.
Oldfatbeerman wrote:I am going to ride to Lithgow on Friday 29 th , thinking of Watagans to Laguna , then via Finchly trig /Yengo to the Putty , Lunch at Grey Gums Cafe via the tar and then through Mountain Lagoon to Bilpin and then down the Tar via Bell line , just because I am a bit over the Mogo creek run and not looking to take all day to do it . Could add in a bit of dirt from Clarence to Lithgow if time is allowing .There is lots of us coming from the Hunter area , are we all riding to Lithgow or will there be some trailer Queens  ?
There are always trailer queens
Trailboss wrote:I have my doubts about the 1200 to be honest as I know that crossing like the back of my hand and the track out of there  See the best in the country fall of on smaller bikes. As for the soccer balls I reckon its worse cause of lack of traffic and recent floods. I did it last in the lux and ended up with bent side steps bouncing from rock to rock :pinch:
If you are going to ride your 800 across like the TM and Kato I won’t be on the ride cause if it goes in it would be a 2hr plus job to dewater a Triumph 800 and I have dewatered a few bikes in my time :pinch:If you are going I can supply routes so you don’t get lost on the other side
TB
Well thats hardly sporting TB though granted the Triumph is not the easiest bike for trackside repairs. Mute point though, the 300 is for trying out Hero moments, the adv is for relaxing weekends away.
Sounds like the only way to know for sure is to head and have a poke about about. That would have to be its own weekend really with time allowed for delays and backtracking etc etc
Gotta put some hours in for work at the minute but will have another look at routes later tonight and see if I can find a less controversial way to get there.
I dont want any “told you so” moments to come back and bite me and we want to be at the commercial drinking beer not looping around trying to find a way out of hillend or calling in rescue vehicles
Life sure is tough having to deal with all these dilemmas
EAGLE`02 wrote:Sorry Squiggs
I thought you guys were meaning a separate weekend ride to take on that route ??? My Bad
It would make a big weekend out of it that`s for sureCurrent reports and theories on the Bridal are not good to be honest.
Really glad I got to ride it once though, it is a cracker of a route, real pity it is closedA you were ,,,
np eags, I thought that might be the case.
Still have some deciding to do, trying to put together something interesting and still make it to lithgow without getting lost, broken or dead
Trailboss wrote:EAGLE`02 wrote:Hey Squiggle & Plindz,
Keep this thread on topic please, otherwise you will have TB goin` all toxic onya :laugh:pm`s sent on the rockfall updates btw
  Post a thread up I will sweep the ride for you guys would like a ride to just cruise along on
I don’t know about the rock fall now but, lots of action there recently and adventure forum has made it very public and the council has reacted I believe. Further more the land slip between has got much worse, I don’t know if I would be going there and I sure wouldn’t put my name anywhere near running a ride through there if you get my drift
Adventure Rider Fourm good luck reading through that
TB
Just read the last few pages as they are more current. If it doesnt happen to get to Lithgow on the 30th might take you up on that TB, I was through there in 2004, great part of the world and hopefully council will sort the track out.
The safari vid was fun to watch, lots of wet bikes and that crossing caught quite a few of them. Might be a few less soccer balls in there now if old mate got through on a 1200
