Have you had to rebuild the v strom engine yet with 53 tho ks
cheers toesIf you don’t know toes , ocker , he is a well above average rider and it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if he bought an R1 to cross the Simpson desert on :silly:
I looked at the strom, the klr , the transalp and the Dr650se. I settled on a Tenere but my second choice would have been the DR650 and with a few mods end up comfortable at speed. Next I would choose the klr. As Badbowie said the transalp and strom seem too low for singletrack use.And any bike that can cruise at speed seems to loose it’s capability in technical stuff !!
Good luck with whatever you choose

This guy is on fire !!!!
Well its all over and Depres wins his 4th Dakar , Coma had dramas with his bike but still managed second with Rodrigeuz 3rd.
Cyril reckons it’s his hardest Dakar yet , and that’s saying something !!!!This is how the aussies finished cut from Trailzones FB page …
Of the Aussies, privateer KTM rider Dean Nuttall put in a supreme effort in his Dakar debut to finish 40th outright in the bikes, just three spots ahead of Husaberg Rallye Racing Australia rider Dave Schwarz (pictured with the Husaberg crew), who turned in his third Dakar finish in as many attempts. Meanwhile Honda mounted Jamie Chittick completed the list of Aussie finishers, with a 54th outright placing — well done boys!

Plomer rd was the 1st bit of off roading I did when I moved to Oz and you bought the memories right back !!! I drove up Plomer rd then back along the beach at high tide , it was bloody soft and I got my landcruiser bogged in the worst section of beach. A guy about 80 in the shade pulled me out in a Suzuki jeep muttering something about bloody pommies having no idea
I bet its good to be back on the bike , even with all the aches
