A spot trail only lasts for 7 days and I think it would be hard to retrace a single track ride via spot.
I don’t turn my tracking on on a single track ride , no point really !Bundyroy wrote:Thanks again TB.When I asked how long has it been going, I meant how many years has it been held. I gather this is not the first year it has been run.
Thanks
This year is the first !
Why can’t I bring my Gps ?
I know where TB is coming from with the NO GPS thing , we had a local rider in our area attend a ride with a hidden Gps , he then shared it with a country wide riding group who used it for an event. Next thing the Gps coordinates appear on the Internet. Now the trails are destroyed from over use and hardly rideable. A great riding area ruined for locals by one guys carelessness with a Gps. Shame !
Bundyroy wrote:I’ve only just picked this up so sorry for my ignorance. How does this rally work. From what I gather there is a 7000km loop with riders starting from various locations. Is it a race? I gather the term rally means it may not be a race and also the fact that there are legal speed limits on the roads. Is there rules on how many hours a day they can ride etc? I get the impression you do it as a team, not solo. What’s it cost to enter. Is it a charity fundraiser? Too many questions.Hi Bundyroy
Its not a race
You ride from about 7am to 5 pm this is monitored via a spot tracker.
It costs $1000 from memory to enter
It’s not a charity fundraiser.
Cheers
Nick
You just love it all is what your saying hey Corey

He is a freak rider, but it still seems too fast to be true hey ?????John who is running the rally seems pretty happy with it all, so it seems to be legit
I don’t doubt if for one minute Eags, its too well run and observed to not be legit !
be really interesting to see where the rest come in hey !!
On my recent Prerun ride I did I still had the GPS log saved. I travelled 298km of which 80 km was tar with a top speed of 140kph ( up my drive on the way out of course
). My moving average was 66.8kph and I was having a pretty good go.
Dean Nuttall must have been flying or their must have been some very good surfaced sections to up the average.
One day on the high country ride our average was 38kph and we covered nearly 400km in 8 hours ?nice one Aido, sounds like it will be your birthday all week hey !!
Bundyroy wrote:Nick,I know you said the goggles have all replaceable parts. Can you get new foam parts for the bit that goes against your face and the air vents at the top and bottom. The air vent foam always goes on my normal goggles and next thing you know your eyes are dust city. The camera part certainly looks the goods, my only concern would be the goggle part lasting the distance. I’m guessing all this has been worked out as you don’t exactly have to be a rocket scientist to realise that goggle longevity is an important part of the system.
The camera screws into the goggles from the inside so once the goggles are trashed the camera can unscrew and fit into a new pair. When I bought them I was told that every part was replaceable so I don’t think their would be a problem !
