A plastic bag of some description and a cable tie , or tie wire

Loosely tie the wire or cable tie around the bottom of the bag or a quarter of the way up and this holds the filter up , hang it from something and all excess oil drains to the bottom

Tried this and ended up with a sticky bag with a bit of oil in the bottom , then what ? Tip it back in the bottle ? Try to re oil a filter in the bag that’s sticking together ?

I ended up in a mess with the bag which is why I went the bucket , seems ok so far but I can seem to get that filter oil stuck to everything so time will tell !! :D

Do you think that ktm have it right then Nick with the 350 in the middle, and the other manufacturers should follow suit CRF 350x

Spot on James , a 350x could be the one if set up right , I think the 450 would be better if the aggressiveness was taken out of the bottom third of power delivery but it could also be how this one is set up , it’s the only one I have ridden to compare !!

Can’t wait to see what Aaron thinks to his 300 bore kit too :woohoo:

Due to damage i changed my after market pipe (that you could put your hand in] and put the stock fully restricted one on ,I think it would solve all the things you didnt like about it, it makes the bottom third very smooth and cuts down on wheel spin on big hills but the power is still there when you want it, i reckon its just as quick

    It’s got a stock pipe fitted mate , it’s just a cranky bugger !!!!

The 450 you are comparing with is renouned for being very aggresive almost mx like, plus its an outdated model. Try a new WR 450 if you want a smoother engine.

Or you could just grow a pair, open the throttle and flap off the back of it!

:D I was waiting for it LC !!

I was just comparing what was in my shed at the time but I agree the Wrf would be a more manageable 450 in the tight stuff !!

As for flapping off the back I’ve done plenty of that with mixed results :pinch:

Gearing and a Rekluse would tame the beast I’m sure and if I owned one I think it would be a must for regular tight trail riding but then a 250 does it very with stock gearing etc , if where I ride was 50% open trails and I was racing all the time the changes would be justified and the 450 would be the pick of the two !

Rookie , did you find the 450 tiring on trail rides before you changed the gearing?

Your dead right Bol , it’s about what terrain you enjoy riding and what you do most of , I felt that it I had a switch to go from 450 to 250 depending trails life would have been perfect :D
