In my opinion it depends totally on what you ride for the majority of the time , the Ten is great on fast opens dirt roads down to flowing twin track but too heavy for very tight stuff. The 690 is good in the tight stuff but after riding Mickps 690 I wouldnt want to ride fast dirt roads all day. Each has their place
As Boulder said a decent steering dampener is a big advantage on an Adv bike and I don’t think theirs a bike out their that has one fitted stock.

Great report Mick , I always enjoy riding our local area and Maso picked some of the best
Thanks Maso for helping out and putting together a top loop for the Old Bulls, you really stepped up mate and it’s much appreciated.

Big thanks to DJ too who stepped up when Rob injured himself on Fridays loop .
You did a great job mate and really saved our bacon

What a fantastic weekend with some great mates.
The riding was first class after the rain and the trails couldn’t have been better.
I was really nervous going into this ride as the loop I had to remember has so many intersections and I have spent the past week running through it in my head at 3am most mornings hoping I wouldn’t get 20 old bulls lost
My main concern was that ‘Trapeze ‘ , being a tight techy single , may have a log down on the day and with no other way to Glenreagh we’d be stuffed. Well that happened and when I saw the debris my heart sank , I’d just done the majority of the trail using my head and bike as a battering ram and thought we’d made it but that one tree down had taken a heap of vines and jungle with it. Thanks to Boony , Jeffro and Fordy we cut our way around the obsticle and made it to the pub
The morning group were a great bunch of old bulls who held a really good pace and smashed every trail with grins at the end, thanks for a top ride guys.
After lunch the nerves started to return and with good reason , I was a hunted man , with nearly 20 frothing fast and racing riders on my tail I stretched them as far as I could through the forest to give me some breathing space , which only amounted to a few minutes after going hard for over 1/2 hour blasts. I had a ball guys thanks.
It was great to get on the beers in the evening and hear all the stories from the day , it was a really funny night.
Thanks to my good mate STM for the usual hospitality at his house and for letting me learn and lead through part of his home territory.
As always it was a pleasure riding with all of you old bulls , can’t wait for the next OBT event :woohoo:

I didn’t get a damper in the end Eags , the Ralle Moto one didn’t fit and since then ive been too busy to look.
Could have used one lately though with the high speed offs I’ve had :p

Heres a thread from the DIY section of old bills that explains all
TB gave me the best tip of all ..
Take the tyre off both sides of the rim then push the rim down into the tyre and pull out.
Put a part inflated tube into the new tyre and fit the valve into the rim then lever on , it can only be done one way.
It takes me about 15-20 minutes to remove wheel , change tyre and refit and that includes a stubbie break
Jimmy is spot on it gets way easier the more you do.
Nick
Thanks for that tip Adam
I agree it seems like their are switch wires run the full length of the bike for no obvious reason and whoever installed my loom had no forethought of it rubbing on the frame. Even the rear brake light switchwires were run under the battery.
After finding wires rubbed bare , blowing main fuses and losing charge to my battery I decided today to rip the whole loom out and start again.

Looking trick mate
How good are those sticker kits !!

The 7 day weather forecast up here has been very accurate for the last few weeks so I’m being optimistic
