Top looking day in the shed their

Can’t wait to follow the spot trackers :woohoo:
Nick
Nice one Rory , what are you riding on the safari ??
I was lucky enough to have a loan of steve( adventure Moto) s F800 for the Trailzone high country ride earlier this year and I must say I was impressed at how capable off road the bike was , although a bit too much power to traction , I got to grips with it and stayed upright !!!

Nick
Riding with your mates has to be what it’s all about and a highlight of any ride !!! Adventure riding fan or not good company on dirt bikes to reach a common goal is hard to beat

Look forward to the next one :woohoo:
Nick
Not sure Rory, I tried it at first but didn’t get on with it at all. I’m sure Chris will have the answers

Nick
The most northern Tip of Australia was our goal and we made in style with unloaded bikes ripping up some top sand twin track , Moose was riding the unladen DR like he was on an MXer and got me right in the mood for A Rip To The Tip Aussie style
The last beach in oz is a cracker , even in the rain !!

The walk to the tip was a challenge in the riding gear but excitement was running high !!

Every adventure needs some Blue Steel

It’s a great sense of satisfaction to reach a long time goal !!

…….
What a great ‘trip’ Teza , I love the old pics !!! It’s getting harder to find adventures like that now , but you lived the dream mate
.Nick
Camping on this trip was a big highlight for me , some of the locations were a surprise and it felt good to be totally self supported. The fully loaded cans weren’t as good as the Punsands Bay seafood banquet , which has set a new bar height for shell fish , but did a fine job
Punsands Bay camp

Kram with his Tent/swag/ tardis/Narnia set up

Behind one of our camps

carry gear on an adventure bike is always a challenge and being self supported you need food ,stove, water , mattress , tent, sleeping bag, pillow etc
In this ride I was looking for a good nights sleep in a dry tent but keeping the weight and size of my load down.

TB had a compact camp set up

Moose had all the gear and nearly enough seat left to ride !!!

Kram went for max comfort !!

And needed a wide load escort through most areas

The people on the other side seem a little too calm standing near the waters edge. :ohmy:PTW
who knows ???? V
I found don’t look , throttle on , clench seat with arse worked for me
Weipa was a place I knew nothing about other than it’s a bloody long way from anywhere. I have to say I really liked this town , the indigenous Murry people were very friendly and the mine that the town lived around was very impressive. They relied heavily on the barge from Cairns to bring in food and supplies and once gone that was it until the next one , no popping to the next town , their isn’t one !!
The Gulf of Carpentaria

Ships getting loaded from the mine

Waiting at a haul road to check out the dumpers

Our Donga at Weipa

My mate from Yamba that I haven’t seen in 4 years just happened to arrive in Weipa the same day as us !!

I took a picture of this sign thinking it was a joke but found out later that a croc was hanging around only 300 meters from our Donga ! Dogs disappear on a regular basis and last year a bloke walking back from the pub took a short cut and ended up with a croc attached to his leg !!!

Kram and I took a look around a replica of the 1606 Dutch ship the Duyfken and ended up spending over an hour on this very interesting ship where only half the original crew would return from any voyage.

Once we left Laura I felt I was into the Cape trip proper and was loving the fast opens roads and ever changing scenery. Visiting the isolated stations and roadhouses was a big highlight for me as was dodging the bull dust holes and huge road trains that left you in a complete dust white out , it’s a strange thing to enjoy but I loved it
Hann River roadhouse

And it’s wildlife

A road train leaning Hann river roadhouse to go and dust up some more bikers

Bramwell Station

Creeks along the way , I was very aware of the croc threat some some pictures may be rushed and a bit blurred

More later ….
Well I’ve nearly recovered from this epic adventure , I feel like Tom Hanks in Castaway getting back to the real world after only a couple of weeks away , we fitted so much in ( and not just beer
). TB did a great report as it happened so I’d just like to add a few photos of my highlights , in no particular order. The ride from Mackay to Collinsville was great fun and easy enough to get used to the big bike fully loaded. All the excitement lead to myself , Moose and Kram partying at the Collinsville pub until 1.30 only to see Kram face plant into the flower beds while relieving himself , I’m still cracking up about that one.
The Band that had us dancing , head banging and then staggering home !!

The day after ( 3 hours sleep just ain’t enough !)

More to come …..
Happy birthday Bob

See ya at the Lowanna Cramp Fest

goldfish wrote:One of the best things about travelling IMO are the people you meet along the way.AND the night we spent in Seisia we met a fantastic young bloke who is truely an inspiration to me.
Basically his story goes something like this. He’s an early 20’s jack the lad type character with his life all in front of him. Then one night driving home with his brother their car spears off the road and hits a tree. William breaks shit loads of bones and ends up in a coma on life support. At times they don’t expect him to make it. 17 days later he wakes up. He has a brain injury and can’t walk, talk, feed himself nothing. He’s like a new born baby again.
Fast forward two years and the gutsy bugger has grabbed life by the short and curlies taught himself not only to walk, talk and function again but decided to ride a push bike from Mareebe ( west of Cairns) to the Tip of Cape York.
33 stacks later we met him at Seisia just after he finished his ride and had a night out at the Fishing Club. Yes there are still signs of his injuries. He has some trouble with his speech and his motor skills aren’t perfect but his mind is as sharp as a tack. His outlook on life is just fantastic and he had me pissing myself laughing till well into the night.
For me Seisia was one best nights out on the trip. The Fishing Club had the music pumping, great grilled fish burgers, cold beer, top beach front location and plenty of laughs with four of us and William Bruce Stacey.
Kram

Great memory that one Kram
he was a very cool guy and like I said to him I thought he was really drunk when we first met the way he was walking and he cracked up laughing at that
He made our efforts at adventure seem very tame and his courage is inspiring . Also he was a piss head like the rest of us with a wicked sense of humor

Hope I meet you again Will

Nick
Funny report their Pete

Nick
