Saturday night was a pub feed and an early night knowing Moto would show up at 8 and we’d have a big day ahead.
The loop started with the confidence killer and a grovel before we got to a hill we all cleared with ease the following day , it was looser and harder and I only just made it first go !!From the top , that’s Mike at the bottom …. The white dot
The ride on Saturday afternoon continues to flow well with a great mix of very fast twin track , singles and endless hills.
Until ……Big Red !! Mike never warns of hills or any obstacle so when he stopped the
Group at Big Red and started the pep talk I think everyone’s bowels let go together.
He said it was the steepest downhill they had that we should take a lot of care on !!!! Bugger.
Nato took of like a mad man and gravity had its way with him and I followed STM over the cliff , downhills aren’t my thing at all , we don’t have any where I ride and it wasn’t long before the back wheel came over my head and I did a nice 10 foot free fall onto shale and rock !!! Picking up the Beta nearly blew a valve and I bull dogged the next section feeling about batteredOnly very few have ridden up Big Red and even Mike and Tom have only made it on the odd occasion , so of course Nato put the gas gas 300 on the pipe in 3rd and hit it hard , he had a cracking attempt as he disappeared round the bend only to run out of steam before the top. Full respect for even having a go Nato !!! Crazy hill that one !!
The second hill was a long loose rutted nightmare , I was lucky enough to have great momentum and pulling 3 Rs gear , Nato was hooked up early as Corey passed and I caught Corey soon after , a bit of yelling at him and he got hooked up on a root and stopped , I gave him a friendly shunt sending him over the root and of to the top where we pulled up side by side
This ride was awesome !!! Thanks to Mike and Tom for the weekend , as usual Mike lead us on the most challenging trails of the year , the hills are huge and steep with maximum commitment a must. It’s the only ride that gets me nervous and within minutes of hitting the dirt on day 1 we were in steep off camber terrain with a few logs to hop for good measure !!! Every ride I’ve done with Mike he throws in a real confidence killer straight away and this was no exception , we all struggled up this one and you soon realised you were back on the Sunny Coast
STM and I ready to roll
i love Mikes ride , it’s the best and most challenging of the year , the nerves are just another good part of it !!
Cmon stm your bike was finished weeks ago , you can’t get out of the sunny Coast torture fest now buddy , see ya Friday

LC could bring it up for the ride next weekend ????
After my first really decent off on my new Beta last week I had to get the monkey off my back so a solo trail ride was the go focusing on what shitty little hills I have in my back yard and as many loose downhills ( trail or not !!) I could find.
The confidence is back so bring on the ball buster that is mikes ride:woohoo:
See you all next week !!!
