Hard to read and hard to know what to say :(

I have introduced my 2 girls into our sport and love the joy they get but dread the possibilities. A lot in life is dangerous but I think you assess the risks and play on.

    Condolences to all :(

Nice write up Nickj. Sounds like a great day with good mates. ;) Where were the Liquid image goggles? MIA?

Mate , the charging / downloading ( small rounded USB ) lead IS MIA :(

I think I left it at TBs on our last ride and he’s used it to wire the flux capacitor to his scrapheap Tenere :D :D

I must say I miss wearing them as the goggles are very comfortable and the nose shield / lantana deflector works a treat.

I’ve ordered a new lead , just waiting for Auspost now :)

After a top lunch and refuel we headed to the relative unknown , Jake had gone down a couple of the up coming trails a few weeks back but had’nt made a loop. That was our goal !!

We hit some fast twin track under the power lines and got onto Jakes unknown trail , I was mid pack with Spud sweeping , the 1st few kms were fairly average twin trail through nice country. But then we hit the gold !!! Some very fast flowing trail with perfect erosion mounds launching us forward every 100 meters , we were all having a ball and although not technical riding the track kept us alert with 90 degree off camber corners , deep sand and rolling rocks ;)

Their was a bit of mapping on route and when the map ran out I went to the latest technology to get us through and my iPhone with the Mudmap app completed out loop in style :D

We returned to Whiporie and refueled after a nice 100km loop.

Spud and I were keen to hit more singletrack on the home run but Jake (boil in the bag ) Corey ( still pissing blood) and Nate ( been too long off the bike ) were showing signs of wear and wanted a more direct loop back.

I got us into the forest and Spud took the lead :woohoo: I knew Spud had something up his sleeve , he’s a bloody trail legend round here and didn’t disappoint , singles , singles , singles all the way back to my patch  !!!! I loved the sections we were riding and couldn’t believe they were so close to home ( thanks Spud it topped off the day ;) B) )

Once back on my back door we did a mix of singles and twin trails to get to the cars then it was beers all round and a big drive home for the Nambucca boys :) .

Thanks to spud and Jake for helping make a great loop work and racing anyone available  , to Biggeral for behaving like a teenager whenever he gets on a new bike , Andy for fixing his bike ( somehow ???) and finding us en route , Corey for instigating the ride and sharing his pissing blood stories  and Nate for being as solid as ever and pushing hard all day !!

Sorry about the absence of pics and vids in this report , no excuses , we were just having too much fun to think about it :D

The ride was unplanned and came about via text from Corey demanding to be escorted around some north coast trails :P  , he soon got his dad , biggeral , and mate Nate on board.

I sent off a few last minute texts and got a lot of keen locals interested but being a long weekend and beer being the highlight it was not a surprise when only Spud , Jake and Andy fronted for the ride.

We were just about to leave when Andy noticed oil coming out of his engine case caused by his bike falling over after fueling at the servo. We got out the quick metal and made the repair. Unfortunately it turned out the case had cracked underneath too so Andy told us to get going while he tried a new repair.

It was straight up a fun hill out the back of my place and a regroup at the tower , Corey was missing ? , he soon showed up and as it turned out  after adjusting his chain at my shed we left and he realized he’d left his axle nut loose so he raced back to tighten it and we could finally get going B)

The ridge line behind my property is in 2 halves , 1 being sand dune , the other rock and red clay !!!! It really keeps you on your toes and we rode about 10 km of single track to get to our 1st dirt road. I was shocked at how the lantana and summer grass had closed the trails in and taken some of the fun out of some top trails. ( lantana man we need you !!!! ).

We stopped for a break on Mororo creek and that’s when we noticed Jakes head was a lot redder than usual :D :D , his wife was kind enough to buy him an enduro Dririder jacket as a gift but unwittingly got him the summit version for cold conditions and today was at least 26 and humid so the poor bugger was sweating buckets :D

We had to ride some wide boggy swamp to get to the next area and it was almost totally camouflaged in summer grass I went in blind , cross rutted and had a drop !!!

We got to a state forest gate and their was Andy bike repaired and ready to go !!! I was stoked , he’s a great bloke who I don’t get to ride with often enough.

Corey on the other hand found a bigger hole , filled in his dad and buried his new Klx :D :D he then left the bog ( eventually and binned it soon after with lack of front brakes !!!!!

We bypassed Andys log and hit a great single up hill , Jake was up front after I for hooked up in a fallen tree then Spud and Corey , who could sense a race close in third . It a great trail and goes for about 3 km , I kept the leaders in sight ( only just ) for about 2 km before ploughing into a heap of fallen branches and losing too much time. Spud passed Jake and Corey stuck on his tail so they were frothing at the top.

Jake took the reigns to get us along a nice singletrack , through sone dubious looking areas and into Whiporie for lunch.

    To be continued ……..

Sorry Eags , Petes bike ended up on a trailer and wouldn’t pull over 45 kmh on a straight. Boulder also ended up on a trailer with electrical issues with the Drz :(

Micks rear shock shit itself early but he pogoed into Gunning. TB did a muffler today and had the mother of all hangovers after last night :D

I’m sure there’ll be lots more stories to come ;)
