SNAP!
The thing I like about ADV helmets is the peak/shady thing. Not a big fan of sun in the eyes. Now have a plate in my leg and collerbone because of a low setting sun.
Sometimes I’ll use the motocross helmet in summer with goggles or if I’m just nipping into town, sunnies.

She’s sweet. I just used the US link as the Aussie “Helmet wharehouse” site was playing up.

however the lack of a visor is a pain so I’m saving for a AGV AX-8. Though about the cheapies but quality is worth saving for.NFHU, be careful buying helmets OS. Currently if they don’t have the Australian Standards sticker they are not legal for use in Australia even though they are the exact same helmet from the same factory.
I believe the Australian Motor Cycle Council are currently pushing for oversees standards (which are more stringent than Australian standards) be recognised here in Australia. Finger crossed this will happen and we will no longer be ripped off the helmets.

LOL. Does Gary know about this???
Good report. Enjoyed reading it a couple of times.
Having done it now is there anything you would do differently? ie bike setup, routes, luggage etc?
Cheers,
NFHUBetta Bikes is in SA and is the God of bike electrics. Or s o I’ve heard.
Why not get two bikes/
I have. Got a WR450 for the trails and a bit of road and a 650 Veestrom for the roads and a bit of trails.
Some of my mates combo’s include:
DRZ and Varadero
DRZ and Tenere
Kato 300 and Kato 990
XR400 and VFRMaybe look at a Suzuki DR650 or a DRZ400. I’d go the DRZ.

Trailboss wrote:Yes we are building a WR that Steve is riding it’s in the workshop now. The XR is still getting built a mate of steve’s from the states is riding it in the APC as was always the plan. Progress has been slow with everything going on, the new wheel sets have arrived. The build for both bikes need to hit top gear soon or we will run out of time to build and test. This thread will get busy soon enoughTB
Good to hear you guys are doing the WR build. Have you got a thread started on this? I’m thinking of ADVing my WR
Watching with interest. Almost bought a sentimental tear to my eye.
At least it’s in good hands.
Better hurry up. I just read in Trailzone Steve want’s to take a WR450 on the APC
Great day. I live only an hour or so away and had always wanted to get up to it. Left early sunday morning to catch up with some mates who landed there Saturday. Didn’t know you could ride on saturday otherwise i would have done it as well. Bugger.
Dust was not too bad. at least the wind kept most of it away.
Really good WE. I think i was the ONLY person there not to win ANYTHING!
Tent wise I have a Blackwolf Mantis 2. HTF you can sleep 2 in it is beyond me as it’s pretty tight for one. I’m 6’1 and wouldn’t want to be 6’2. Very light and very strong however. Packs down to about 1/4 of a bed pillow size which I’m happy with.
http://www.blackwolf.com.au/adventure1000078/mantis-ii/Lie on a BCF self inflating matteress with a 35yo down sleeping bag. No probs here
Cooking is still being sorted out. Currently burgers and pub grub. Hopefully on the Wyanlgala ride I’ll get to see some setups before I lash out. some are pretty $$ so I want to get it right.
EAGLE`02 wrote:Anybody tried one of these little units ??
Looks ok for quick meals on the go, apparently only costs $9 at BCF with 24 tablets supplied (4 tablets boil 2lt water in 5 mins)
Very compact, weighs virtually nothing :laugh:bugger carrying that concrete paver around though;)
