Geoff Eldridge would be rolling in his grave if he could see what the current editorial turkeys have done to his mag , in the immortal words of his ( Geoff’s ) brother Porky , ” It was shit “

    itsshit-1.jpg

All the current mags are just advertising , every article is pushing a product on consumers , us the motorcycling public .

Don’t believe a word the fuckers print and you wont be dissapointed ! ;)

Thanks for the leading Murph & son ( Tim ) and the bit Eric did too ;) , It was a great day save for the dust and very slippery conditions because of said fine dust , I had a blast , my fitness didn’t allow me to finish the ride you guys did but I’m happy with the ride , I went onto reserve not long after leaving you guys on Watagan Ck rd so I made the right choice , we did the Helipad and down Farrels 2 to Old Mill and East to the Watto forest rd and south back to the cars , only beat Steve and Eric by 10 mins , Great day out , keen to do something similar in the future when I get somewhat fitter  .

    Happy Birthday Tim :woohoo:

    Cheers Alan

I can’t commit just yet , swimbo is in North Qld at the moment , gotta wait till she Ok’s the leave pass  , I won’t do it if it’s gunna be real hot either , I rode yesterday and was dehydrated by 11 am  .

Gazza , the pines are at the junction of Watagan forest Rd and Wollombi Forest rd according to Google maps . I know the Watagan forest rd is correct , dunno if you’ll find Wollombi Forest rd on any official forest map though . IIRC the sign post at the Junction says it’s Walkers ridge Rd .

I started the Longest Day ride back in 09 with Boris and Tom Foster and the Hartleys from Sawtell headland , I only made it as far as Bourke , my big end on the 640 Adv was making a severe racket so I pulled the pin , that was at about 3.30 pm so I reckon I would have made the corner by dark ( had the bike played the game ) no wuckers . John Liddel was my riding partner , his rear shock had blown around Narrabri so he pulled the pin in Bourke too . Luckily his other half Annette was at Nyngan with the ute and Trailer so we Limped the 200 km down the bitchy to Nyngan the next day , the 640 kept running but I was expecting it to go bang at any second .

I learned a few lessons that day .

Take plenty of water and drink as much as you can , the wind and heat dry you out more than you would believe .

Make sure your wheels are balanced perfectly , John’s rear shock died from excessive rear wheel bounce caused by an unbalanced back wheel .

Stopping for fuel at the bowser is MUCH quicker than filling from a jerry can unless you have a quick fill set up .

Eat as you ride , any long straight run gives you a chance to eat and drink.

The Roo’s west of Bourke are big fookers and think they own the road , there are some big Brown snakes out there too ,if there looks to be a big stick on the road , avoid it at all costs as it is likely to be a King Brown . 👿

I wouldn’t mind joining you guys but I think I have other commitments then .

    Cheers Alan

Must have been one hell of a weekend :cheer:

    Bol :woohoo:

If you had have seen TB in the bar Saturday at Midnight having his sixth night cap ( after about 27 tweenies :woohoo: ) and chin wagging with Craig Hartley and co like I did you’d understand why he looked like shit on Sunday ;) . I’d say he drank as well as he talked , and you all know how he can talk . . Pete the Wulf would have been feeling pretty average Sunday too , he was dooing a fair amount of celebrating the joining of the Adventure bike riding ranks . ;)

I went up there ( Watagans ) for a ride today with Crisscrossed and another mate , Jake it’s pretty wet and sloppy in places , I had more falls today than I’ve had in the rest of the past 12 months :silly: . Chris and I were both shagged after 1/2 an hour in the single track :( .

Some of the forest rds are sooooo soft and difficult to maintain a straight line on too , migth be better by Sunday , might be a whole lot worse too depending on how much traffic it sees over Saturday .

    Have fun Jake.
