What a GREAT weekend , a HUGE Thanks for the time and effort you put in TB ;) you rock bud ,to all the guys that did the sweeping , prerunning and all the other little jobs that are needed to get these things running , I dip’s me lid to ya’s , awesome champs ;) .

Their awesome effort resulted in our joy , the trails and roads we rode were great , I am not sure I fully enjoy riding tight stuff on a loaded bike but that would be my only reservation about the whole weekend , my body feels very second hand after two and a half days on the throttle and sitting on a WR seat :pinch: , but you get that on the big jobs . Again guys and girls , thank you all for the time and effort you put into the running of these events .

Thank you too to Wolf man and his crew for the job and back up they provide , and for the raffle prizes for us riders on Saturday night , My new T shirt fits me well :cheer: .

Lastly , thanks to all the other riders , everyone was great company and a pleasure to ride with , it is unusual in these times to find a group that is so cohesive out in the bush , every time I came up behind another rider they moved over to allow a safe and easy pass . That gets top marks from me as I want to enjoy a quick ride but do it safely so we all can go home to our loved ones with a big smile on our faces and that sort of trail manner promotes that ethic . So , great times were had by me and everyone else I spoke to .

    Cheers

Hey Sneaky, A mate and myself are heading off on boxing day for 4-5 days as well, both on 690’s.. Barringtons, across to gingers, willi willi, werrikimbe, up to taylors arm, up again via horseshoe road to waterfall way , dorrigo etc etc … we are pubbing it. you are welcome to join us for all or part there of …. only thing is the saerto may struggle but then again if your mate is handy as you say probably be ok. My mate has only just picked up his 690 and this is a test run for him. Hes a handy rider on enduro as well even though hes on old fart….pm me if your interested

Sounds Like a good ride that one Simmo , have you booked accommodation yet ? I’d have thought that pubs would be booked out around the Xmas – new year period and short staffed too . I try not to travel at all at that time of year , double demerits and clueless nongs on the road in their thousands , but if you have the time available and nothing else on … Why not ?

    Maybe , Need exact dates . ( work sucks ! )

Sheepskin Hut is a bit too nearby for an overnighter I’d reckon’ .( Can get there and back in a medium length day )

I have done some exploring around the Gloucester area with some great riding to be had around Coneac State Forest . Could be worth a further explore in that area .

G’day Junior , welcome to the asylum .

That advice on the bash plate is serious , I’ve seen the sump plug ripped out of a KLR on the trail and the bike became a write off as a consequence  , It was a brand spanker too . It was not lowered either , just used a little beyond it’s designers intention , ie , leaping off erosion mounds ( was only 2 ft off the ground max :) )

Keep the antics up though and we’ll all get a giggle eventually I’m sure .

Linz you’ll look great in those boots , I’m sure you’ll get the offer of a bed on Saturday night if you wear those , ;) no tent then  .

    G’day Greg , Welcome .

I am on the lake too , North Eastern side near the Cafe strip .

Good bikes the 640 Adv , I had one for 2 years and 50’000 km . Miss it at times .

Catch you on a ride soon with some luck ;) .

Cool , I can do 550 between fuel ups on the SE no drama’s . Premium fuel is not compulsory for my SE , but it works nicer for me with it .

WR 450’s run like a freshly castrated Donkey on 91 though , they could do with a fuel quality switch like the Katie’s got .

1 . TB , Do I need to bring my USB cable for my Montana or are all of the Garmin GPS’s the same connector for the download from the PC .

2 . How far is the first days ride to Woodstock in total ?
Is there Premium fuel available at or near Woodstock ?
How far into Sunday’s ride is the fuel stop ?
Is there premium fuel on Sundays route ?

These questions are because I don’t like using sub  Premium fuel if I can avoid it . So , I would like some info to adequately plan my fuel stops .

    Please Discuss ;) .

    Hi Al

I am just happy to get to lithgow for the nav ride the easy way if need be, check with Squiggle & crew if they want to take the “scenic” route – maybe we could plan another ride out west another time if need be for al the “secret” stuff

Have you still got the front tank you mentioned previously.

    Linz

Yep , still got the safari tank .

I am thinking that the easy route would likely be best , just so we are reasonably fresh and keen for the following day .

Might be best to just do the usual , Watto’s , St Albans etc . to Bilpin , then slab it into Lithgow along Bell line . At least we know where we are going and there should be no getting lost on that route  .

I have my own Secret track thru from Wollar to Rylstone , only me and one other know about it ……. just got to get my shit together and sort it into the Base camp soft ware from Magellan software . Either that or ring JL and have him talk me through it again from the Wollar end , I’ve only done it from the Sth going Nth the day we ” Discovered ” it .

I have it on a map somewhere about too , just can’t recall where I put the laminated map print out .

It is some public access farm tracks and Crown Land fire trails , then dirt rds through to the Mudgee rd then dirt back rds through to Rylstone . A fair bit of sand in one section through a pine forest too IIRC .
I’ll get onto it , chasing it up now .

I may be interested , depends on a few things aligning . My annual leave Holidays should start around mid June 15 , so I have that part close ;) . Money and brownie points will be the other two major possible stumbling blocks for moi  .

No issue with the bike side of things , my WR in Safari trim will eat it up with or without a support vehicle .

It would help Dave if you gave us a little bit of info , where do you intend to start from ? Which direction would you prefer to go ?

It would also help to know if you want to see stunning scenery , or ride the bejesus out of your bike , most of us have come from trail / enduro riding to Adv riding but there are 3 or 4 different types . I personally like to ride from fuel stop to fuel stop , that is the other limiting factor in Adv riding , fuel range , we would need to know the lower of the two bikes fuel range to advise on a route accurately . As seen , There are several issues to consider when asking for advice as you have done . Filling in the blanks in your profile would cover a couple of them ;-) .
