I’ve heard the WR’s don’t handle that well on the road? Is this the same for all lighter 250’s

    Handy thread this one
As I have a mate at work who wants to get back into riding and has been asking me plenty of questions.
I have steered him clear of the heavier machines and towards the KTM/WR 250’s
I don’t think it will be long before he’ll be wanting to come out with us so a lighter bike would be the go.
He is a fitter and should be able to do all his maintenance
We will be keeping an eye on this thread.

Hmmm no one has mentioned the 310 Husky?? any reason?

Yeah someone told me to by a TTR but it weights 131 kg!! Seeing as I often ride alone and have to get the bike on and off the trailer by myself 30kg extra is a lot. I once got trapped under my crappa bc I slipped putting it on the trailer and the whole 145kg fell on my back.
Then that same day it fell over in the trailer while driving home and I couldn’t lift it up.

Thankfully I’d thought to change into a short tight black denim skirt and low V neck shirt after my ride…..needless to say I didn’t have to pick it up OR tie it down ;) ;)

But I’d rather not rely on random men driving by to pick my bike up for me

I rode a KLX250 and that was comfy but when it came to the tight single stuff it was a bit too bulky. Was probably just me though.

Cute where can I get the ‘tough bitch’ one

Personally I think the shirt needs a bit of a low V neck and to be tapered a bit….like the cute ones the Ford chicks at Bathurst wear.

I should tell you that the crappa actually broke down 2km up the road AFTER the guy paid for it

He test rode it paid for it got up the highway and it lost all power…..

So there I am at 6pm last night on side of Great Western Highway with 4 kids in the car fixing that *&i*(ing bike.

The stupid battery terminal was loose which casused a short and blew a fuse. I did take a friend of friend with me so thankfully we had the problem sorted in about 5 min. $550 did not include road side assistance!

 I see you’ve heard about my riding style  I just like to see the track from different angles thats all.

The only thing that puts me off a Yamaha is someone told me that the older models have cheap rims and crappy brakes. Seeing as I tend to um take the harder route up hills I’m worried it might be a bit delicate for me. Is this true? I could get a Husky
KTM is a possibility why oh why do they have to be such an ugly color!?!?!

What a great thread. My parents (sorry guys) where HUGE music nuts for all the stuff from the 60’s, 70’s and early 80’s. I had a record player up till the age of 16 bc thats all I needed as I only had vinyl to listen to anyway. So the body might be young but the mind is old ;)

Kiss , Pink Floyd, ACDC , The Skyhooks, The Bee Gee’s back to the Beatles, Hermins Hermits etc.

Murph. popping a tab and listening to music  love it.

But what about the folk stuff

    America?
    John Denver?
    The Seekers?
Best taken with weed I think rather than LSD

Always insure your bikes guys (although read the fine print it seems) . In a past life I used to counsel jr offenders. Yes they would get specific ‘orders’ to fill and No they don’t care if you’re home or not. The older crooks get the young ones to do the crime bc they know if you’re under 16-18 you’ll get out of it very lightly.

By the way I’ve been leaving my chinese crappa in the open carport with the carport lights on AND the keys in the ignition but its still there!!!.

Not even the crooks want that

After that wrap it sounds like something I’ll have to do then

hmmm if its that physically demanding I might give my knee a few more weeks of healing then. Still having twice weekly physio from my last riding experience :P .

    My struggle is over :woohoo:

It seems there is a complicated appeals prosses required when you want to challange a decision made by my MOF (Minister for Finance).

It involves lots of complaining (by me), showing the MOF the cost of fixing said clunker compared to possible retail value (stuff all), and finally crying (trust me guys if you cried for your MOF she would give you anything ;) ).

So the MOF has agreed its time to let the clunker just die. Strip what parts I want off it and take the rest to the Motor recylers.

I kind of lost it when I was fitting the parts I’d ordered and the bolt for the speedo just spun around in the plastic when I tried to fit a Nyloc nut to it. Not only that but the cable for the speedo was the wrong one and wouldn’t fit.

But I really lost the plot when I put the new handbars on and realised that um the old ones weren’t that bent ..no….it was the WHOLE FRONT END of the bike that is bent!!

That was it for me. I was on the phone to the MOF in full stage three appeals (aka crying my eyes out)

So any suggestions of what I should and shouldnt salvage off it? Or does anyone think they want the engine (would make a seriously high powered go cart :P )

All very handy bits too ;)

Great work guys,,, get the chinger back together and go from there OG ;)
Lots of people would have given up on it way earlier than you

    Cheers

 I wont give up on it !

My Minister for Finance passed a ‘One Bike Law’ that states, as long as there is one motorcycle under my ownership (or any of the other family members ownership…slippery bugger) no other motorcycles will be financed until the current motorcycle has been disposed of for a sum of money that the Minister finds acceptable. ;)
He added in ‘sum of money’ bc I was thinking about walking away from it. So you see not fixing the bike is akin to agreeing never to ride again.

Haven’t actually told the Minister how much it is costing to fix though ;) I’ll wait till I’ve sold it to break that news…..I’m not totally stupid

Thanks TB I might need some help with the rear plastics. My wrist hurts too much to get the rear mud guard on (stupid chainsaw).

In your grave yard of parts if you have an indicator light ??? I seem to be one short.
